Some drug test companies are very large and they don't use the CG-719P as they don't do enough business with USCG Captains! (There's only 200K in the US!) The CG-719P form is preferred by the USCG but they will also accept the negative results sheet as long as it is signed by an MRO. This blog post goes into deep detail and should help you out! www.mmseas.com/post/how-to-schedule-a-uscg-drug-test
@@uscg_license_help yes I saw that on the Coast guard website under drug testing, cg719p document is not required as long as they have a medical review officer sign off from a certified shamsha lab
Can you please answer this question? So today I went to my local urgent care and I told him I need to get a Coast guard approved drug test it has to be Federal chain of authority. So they did collect my urine and send it to quest labs for a coast guard drug screen. I thought that you were supposed to provide the Coast guard form CG-719p to the medical review officer for them to sign also. So how do I get quest labs to get the medical review officer to sign off on the 719p form send it back to me so I can either email it or mail to the Coast guard along with my physical and my MMC application.
Great question. The CG-719P form is preferred by the USCG but they will also accept the negative results sheet as long as it is signed by an MRO. This blog post goes into deep detail and should help you out! www.mmseas.com/post/how-to-schedule-a-uscg-drug-test
Hi, I currently have a master's 25 inland, and I believe I have sufficient time at my job working on a 13 grt vessel on inland waters to upgrade to a 50 masters inland. I just completed an increase in scope course and have enough near coastal time on pleasure boats less than 5 tons to get a master's near coastal as well but I am unsure what tonnage I am eligible for. Am I eligible for a 50 ton near coastal?
Sounds like you will be able to upgrade your 25 GRT Inland to 50 GRT based on having 90 days since you got your 25 GRT. www.mmseas.com/post/how-do-i-upgrade-my-uscg-license-from-25-grt-to-50-grt Without seeing your account inside of mmseas.com it sounds like you will get a 25 GRT Near Coastal with the course you took and your description of sea service. www.mmseas.com/post/how-do-i-get-my-uscg-master-100-grt-near-coastal-license-under-46-cfr-11-428 The USCG makes you start over with your tonnage restriction every time you increase responsibility.
Hi @jakef9445 The DOT 5 panel drug tests use federally-approved laboratories to process the samples. You also want to make sure you always ask for a USCG DOT 5 panel test. Many companies will provide you with the USCG CG-719P form if they know you are doing it for USCG licensing.

Your name is on the form and then your dad would sign the bottom section on page two. You can use MM-SEAS software to create the forms perfectly and then sign it all right inside of the app. We're looking forward to calling you captain here soon!
Thank you so much for all of this information! It is so helpful to be able to see everything I need in one place. I didn't know about the TWIC exemption memo. Great info!
I would reach out to the USCG military to mariner office. This article has their current email at the bottom. www.mycg.uscg.mil/News/Article/2578919/new-courses-developed-by-the-military-to-mariner-program-and-approved-by-the-na/#:~:text=The%20M2M%20program%20is%20a,the%20maritime%20industry%20upon%20separation. If you use the help button inside of MM-SEAS software the customer support team can also get you set up with a good POC at the USCG.
You can sign as the owner of the vessel or it can be the ship’s master, owner, vessel manager or office staff for the company that owns the vessel. www.mmseas.com/post/who-can-sign-my-cg-719s-small-vessel-sea-service-form
Call Houston marine and ask for their license expert. She is only 1 of 2 in the entire US that the USCG actually classifies as an expert. I’m on my 6th issue and never waited more than 28 days.
That's awesome! They are great people. A couple of us used their books for getting our 3rds when we were hawsepiping! People who use MM-SEAS software are getting through in about 4-9 weeks with 6.2 being the average with perfect applications on their own!
Hello hope you could help me. I just got my TWIC today. Now I’m going for my MMC I did my physical and drug test. Now they are doing the background I had a DUI about 22 years ago I put it on there, would I be disqualify from getting it? Thank you for your contents.
Congratulations! The TWIC, physical and drug test are the most complicated part. You will want to fill out a CG-719C form. Put everything you've ever been convicted of on the form with as close of dates as you can put down. This blog post goes into depth. www.mmseas.com/post/which-issues-should-i-report-on-the-cg-719c-conviction-statement-for-my-uscg-captain-s-license I suggest you jump into the software and build a perfect application as well as an easy spot to ask questions from our USCG licensing specialists.
If you have previous convictions you can use the table from 46 CFR 10.211 (www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/46/10.211 ) This pdf from the USCG goes into detail. www.dco.uscg.mil/Portals/9/NMC/pdfs/brochures/Criminal_Record_brochure.pdf We're just USCG licensing experts and not lawyers so we always suggest talking to a maritime lawyer if you have any questions about convictions. The CG-719S form is for documenting sea service. You will use the CG-719C form to report all convictions as part of your application.
You have one year after you've been approved to test to take the Open Book Take Home Exam. www.mmseas.com/post/does-the-uscg-really-email-me-my-open-book-renewal-test-if-i-need-it
Great question! There are two ways to create a TWIC exemption memo. If you don't need a TWIC for work than renewing your TWIC is a waste of $125.25. You can use @mmseas TWIC exemption memo generator and digitally sign it inside of the MM-SEAS app OR You can create your own TWIC exemption memo, hand sign it and scan it into your package as a pdf. www.mmseas.com/post/how-do-i-make-a-twic-exemption-memo-to-renew-my-uscg-license
That's a great question! You would get your employer to write a sea service letter on company letterhead. www.mmseas.com/post/who-can-sign-my-sea-service-letter-on-company-letterhead Side note: You do need to be underway for over 4hr in a 24 hr period on one boat to get credit for a sea day though. Numerous Short trips of different boats doesn't count under the current USCG rules.
I would reach out to the USCG military to mariner office. This article has their current email at the bottom. www.mycg.uscg.mil/News/Article/2578919/new-courses-developed-by-the-military-to-mariner-program-and-approved-by-the-na/#:~:text=The%20M2M%20program%20is%20a,the%20maritime%20industry%20upon%20separation. Question merchant maritime center is wanting me to send in my sea service time from being in the navy so I called them an they couldn't provide me how to obtain my sea service time from them if you know how please help
I've been sent to destroy the sea. For you all complain about the blind and the deaf, but do not show the truth behind the sea, and only hide in plain sight. Then who is worse? The deaf and blind? or those that can see, say, and hear but do not reveal the Truth. The End in Near.
What if you owned several boats (7) over 22 years. I have the registration numbers from pictures, but don't have any paperwork from those old boats. Can I still log my sea time from those vessels?
Great question. The CG-719S works for all vessels under 200 GRT. You just need to type what kind of vessel it is. In your case it would be a Sailing Vessel.
Great question. All the same information applies. You can use a CG-719S if the vessel is less than 200 GRT. For a vessel owned by a university you would need someone else to sign for your hours. If you're working as a Captain than the vessel manager or office staff that manages the vessel for the university would sign off. If you are working as anything but the Captain than the Captain can also sign off in addition to the vessel manager or office staff that manages the vessel for the university.
