Human eye size factor. I've been following camera reviews for some times now. MFT has the best view and focal equivalence to the human eyes. Smart phone sensors are small. I can not stand that the portrait I took with my phone didn't look like what I see. Full frame took good pictures, but they didn't look like what I see either. MFT and APSC took pictures that are a lot more like what I see with my eyes.

Great video, and I really see what you are saying. A while ago, I visited a fair where various major brands had their cameras on show, and I could try them all. I tried the defaults of Canon, Nikon and Sony, also some outliers such as the Fujifilm GF 100. And a Lumix S1, and a Leica SL2. If found that picture quality is similar for all major brands, differences appear in lenses and handling. The one thing I learned at this fair is that the one thing the Leica SL-series wins over all these other brands is simplicity in the controls. You just get 8 customizable buttons, and that's it. Every photographer has his own style of handling a camera, the Leica adapts to everyone surprisingly easy. So while these pictures were no different than a Lumix S1, I did overall like the simplicity of Leica's camera. I did however purchase a Panasonic S1 body in the end, because it's controls are second best, at a much lower price point. And it has a tilting display, which the Leica SL3 now also has. I also got a great second-hand Leica Elmarit 24-90 f2.8-4 lens, which is better than awesome. That lens combined with a S1 is the best of both worlds for what I do with photography. Image quality and handling is superb. If Panasonic will ever make a successor to the S1 with phase-detect AF, I would buy it immediately.

Hi, you want to try the Fp, 24mp and a beast in video making and low light situations. A real gem. For me, the only problem, as you mention, is that indoors it becomes impossiblt to take photos at fast shutter speeds without getting terrible banding... However, in video, if you get banding, you can set the shutter to 360 degrees and boom... magically, banding dissappears. I found out by trying everything while shooting my last music clip, it was a great discovery. Thanks for your video and your. work. All the best

Hello bro, I want to ask you which camera do you recommend I buy, the gh7 or the s5iix? Which one is better? I really want to buy one this week but I'm confused! and watching your previous videos I felt that the s5iix was the best option but now that I see the new video of the gh7 I got more confused lol! That's why I ask you the question! thanks my friend

What are your thoughts on the 20-60 kit lens that they sell with this? Would that be comparable? I'm still learning about cameras, and if I pick up the S9, I would want one versatile lens that could do everything, and it seems Lumix is suggesting their 20-60 for that.

I used the GH series from GH 1 through GH5. Year and a half ago I switched to the S5 in the S52 and have been trying to make them work. they are both good cameras, but I still personally love the GH series and I’m planning on getting a GH 7. I do a lot of event shooting as well as commercial shoots and the ease of the menus, the size. I personally find much quicker and better than the S5 series which are bigger and heavier.

Hi, Josh! My question is: what ultrawide lens for L mount has the most sharpness? And low distortion: Sigma 16-28/2.8 Panasonic 18/1.8 Sigma 14/1.8? What is the best for photo and video in your opinion?

Hi, Josh! Now I am buying the lumix S5 II. Can you tell me in which case the autofocus would be better: s5 II + sigma 135/1.8 DG HSM for L mount or S5 II + sigma mc-21 + Sigma 135/1.8 DG HSM for Canon EF?

I worked with Panasonic for several years as consultant / sponsored photographer. One of things I learned is that with Leica a lot of the color and character comes from the glass. This is why if you use a Micro 4/3 Leica lens on a Panasonic body the color is different. In this case it’s related to the firmware in lens but with analog Leica lenses it’s all about the glass. I think if you got a Leica lens and did the test again it would be quite interesting. Thanks for the video ❤

It seems like a fun comparison to me: but seriously, do you think it's accurate? What's the difference between a 500 and a Mercedes? It's the same type of question: with both, I can travel the same road, right? But there's a 20,000 euro difference. Then, the same argument should apply to the Canon RS1 or the Nikon Z9: but speaking ill of Leica is fashionable.

Love the build. Doing something similar with my G9ii except I just returned the tilta S5iix cage in favor of the Nitze cage for S5IIX because the curved top right design of the tilta cage partially blocks the WB button and sort of forces you to use your thumb to hit the record button, which means I have to lift my palm. Plus no mounting options. If you're ever looking into a new setup for your S5iix strongly recommend the Nitze cage. It takes the best features from the tilta and smallrig cages and combines them, plus universal compatibly with all NATO clamp styles. Cheers! As a new Lumix user, Love your content. Oh, also .. I just got the S5IIX cage from Dark Power Labs... That thing is so sick, you should take a look at it.

I've shot both Leica and LUMIX and overall I agree with you - but only if you are not using Leica L mount lenses or adapted Leica lenses which have a dedicated profile for each on the SL series cameras. This is not comparable to the LUMIX or any other L mount camera (The SIGMA FP/FPL, DJI, or BMCC 6k), Leica may not have the extensive profiles as the LUMIX, but the idea here is MOST people don't need it. The user experience with the Leica SL in all of its variants (which was the first full frame L mount camera) is far beyond the S series LUMIX. As I believe you mentioned, the LUMIX S1 and S1R are comparable to the SL2S and SL2 respectively, and the LUMIX have more functions and a tilting screen - I found say, using multi-shot high resolution mode with the S1 was better than the SL2/SL2S because you could hand hold the camera where Leica made it shake resistant (I never saw any real artifacts from the few times I used this mode.) The SL3 adds the tilting screen, and a number of other modern functions that the SL/SL2/SL2-S do not have and like the entire SL line it's much more robust than the S1 series. I am interested in seeing if LUMIX actually updates the S1R or just sticks with the S5II and S9. If they do, not sure what its difference would be from the SL3 other than build, menus and maybe a few functions that would be specific to its user base. Also, for reselling and maybe switching systems you will get a better bang for your buck by even investing in a used SL2 than getting the cheaper S1R and trying to sell it later. Also, for retaining the camera for a long period of time (past its shelf life) the Leica is the better option. I have direct experience with this as I sold my SL2 and S1 at the same time and had vastly different takes. Do I agree with you that the medium format larger sensor cameras are better? I mean, sure. Technically... but the usability of the Hasselblad is SLOW, and the GFX is a mess of menu system with odd color science. I have a straight from the factory Leica S typ 007 and have used the Leica S3 and for image quality and usability I am waiting for the Leica S4 or mirrorless version (the Leica S has thus far been a DSLR type body, like the Pentax 645Z, which I also owned). I think Fuji has done a great job with the GFX, but the Leica S is giving Phase One without the cost and even at less MP (37MP for the S typ 007, and 64MP for the S3) it is the best image quality I have used. Period.

I'm an S5II user and I just bought the Sigma 50 1.4 DG DN. I've recently discovered a "bug" or lack of transparency with the S5II. The phase AF-C is not active in all shooting quality modes. In the .MP4 mode, most quality settings can apply phase detection. However, in .MOV mode, not all settings support it, especially in high frame rate (such as 120 fps). And some 4K modes, it seems somewhat random which modes implement phase detection. This is a bit disappointing, and I only discovered it when using f1.4. When using the 24-70 2.8 (my old lens), this issue was not as noticeable.

I criticized the S9 a lot, but in the end, I bought it and I like it. I think it offers the best of both worlds, although I miss the EVF. My preference is still for a tilt screen rather than a fully rotating one, or one like the A7R V. By the way, I would have liked the S9 to have 60 megapixels so I could use APS-C lenses and have smaller lenses, although you can also do that with the current S9, but you end up with 10 megapixels. I hesitated a lot with the Q3, but since I already have the S1R, Z8, and a whole bunch of other cameras, I preferred to keep it simple and go with the S9. I shot a wedding with the S9, and people really liked it. I haven't had any banding issues so far, except when the official photographer used a flash, which overexposed the top of my photo. It's a shame that the Fp L is so slow because it would have been a good alternative, but I can't stand a slow menu. (Even when the S5 II powers on, I find it too slow, so if the Fp L takes forever to display an image, it's complicated.) So, for me, the price of Leica cameras today is overrated, and I was ready to get a Q3, or even an SL3, but when I got to the store, I preferred to get a Z8 with the 50mm, 85mm f/1.2, and 135mm Plena. €6000 for the body is too expensive for me. I got the Z8 to "replace" my S1R because it's really overdue, and I find that Lumix AF is still not at the level of Canon, Nikon, or Sony. Sorry for going off-topic but between the two cameras for discreet photography, I would still choose the S9.

I really love the concept of the fpl. A super tiny camera that is modular. I want one but not having reliable autofocus makes me hesitant. What I’m thinking is someday getting a lumix camera and a sigma camera and sharing lenses.
