What still strikes me is that Murray is the one who's so raw and emotional, Aykroyd is the one who's stern and analytical, and Harold is the wry and jovial one. It's like their three Ghostbusters' characters' personalities all shifted one space over.
It's from the Ghostbusters II Electronic Press Kit, or EPK. I've cued this link to the 22:50 mark right where his interview segment begins. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Vte68NZUDY.htmlsi=t4Eh1wY6SL7ohT--&t=1370
I gave it a shot three years ago, actually. There's not a ton of footage from it out there. Maybe on the next Blu-Ray release, they'll trickle out a clip from it. I've cued this link up to the relevant portion, but you may enjoy the full video from the start for proper context. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j9G6oL7gbjk.htmlsi=EN7zjmmKnjGNm7e1&t=418
@@LextheRobot Well, it was a good try. I also found two more filming images of the scene on Ghostbusters fandom, and the dialogue in November 27, 1988 draft.
@@Vadim_Morozov That's the source for the same shots I used. I zoomed in on the footage to obscure as much of the superimposed contest rules as possible. I felt that the eye was drawn to the words too much.
Yeah, I didn't really notice how constant it was when we were there in person, but editing the video it was more noticeable. Possibly because of the repetition of the clips as I was tweaking them. I actually lowered the volume on some of the loudest and most obnoxiously sudden ones.
The odd timing of your comment is that just two days ago our carousel CD player died and I bought a new one. When I got in from work, my wife had placed all the CDs from inside the defunct one atop the dresser. Three were hers, while two of them were the soundtrack to Bohemian Rhapsody and the score for GBII. I honestly didn't even remember owning that one.
This upload precedes the release of that set by nearly (but not quite) four years. Plus I've included things like the local news segments and the commercials from the original broadcast, for proper historical context. Other than that, they should be very similar, though I haven't done any exhaustive comparison.
I did this attempt at a linear sequence about three years ago. Some were from my own collection, some were found on RU-vid, so the audio levels vary and a few dates are guesstimates. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A7Z7CsDMelQ.html
Rip John. I first saw him in Blues Brothers, one of THE most influential and IMHO best films ever. Saw a few things about him later and like many he passed before his time. ❤❤❤ To all
The movie simply could not have worked as well without Hudson. They all had that understanding- and despite getting dough they were not your average white dudes from second city- but it needed next character- all the characters had their reason for being on the crew. They ran the gamut of interesting academic to real working man and it just worked. I love the scene with Dan and Ernie getting philosophical in the car. It’s just perfect even today
I love that as an English guy sort of expect a woman in this era of her ‘look’ in the south of US to be more I dunno.. puritanical? But she’s not, she’s so so lovely and welcoming. And you can tell just like interviewing she doesn’t just love film - she GETS movies. It’s so marvellous. I’m so glad I came across these interviews
Glad you're enjoying them. Bear in mind, these are just the ones that I decided to recut for my playlist. Prowl around online and you can find dozens of the raw tapes from throughout her career. Originally, she used a single-camera setup, so the camera person would start in a two-shot, push in on the interviewee for the entirety, and then at the end they'd reshoot Bobbie's closeups to cut away to in the edit. By 1989, when she interviewed Bill Murray about Ghostbusters II, she had progressed to a two-camera setup, so the interactions feel much more spontaneous.
For some reason, the online raw tape of her interviewing Dan Aykroyd in 1984 is missing Bobbie's cutaways at the end. Luckily, this was the big Ghostbusters press day at the Plaza hotel, so Wygant had interviewed several members of the cast that day, always wearing the same outfit. I believe it was the Rick Moranis interview which appeared to have been shot in the same room as the Aykroyd, so I was able to lift some nonverbal reactions from that raw tape and keep Bobbie 'present' instead of just being a disembodied voice.
Oh I just wanna make her a nice meal and watch nice old film with her. What a beautiful sensitive soul. But not a fool by any means. No prodding- no need for hyperbole and drama. I wish we had more of that nowadays.
Just as much as I enjoyed seeing "Dickless" get plopped on by the remnants of Mr. Stay Puft, I never thought I'd get to see "Fudgie Brain" get sucked in that slime shell!
To clarify, Murray is talking about a scene in The Razers Edge, a philosophical film based a novel that Murray insisted be made before he would agree to do Ghostbusters
The video's description specifies that she's interviewing him about Razor's Edge. But the timing on things is more like Razor's Edge was already in production when Columbia greenlit Ghostbusters to be released one year later, so the "let me make this other movie if you want me for the comedy" claim is a bit of an urban myth / exaggeration. I think it was more about a distribution deal, I'll try to find one of the older sources to see what it said back in the day. Internet versions tend to get distorted over time.
@@LextheRobot so it is, but the title might add confusion. The timing of those two films doesn't actually dispell that myth at all, it would align with it in fact.
Hey its Fang again. Thanks for responding! I responded 2 times to your comment but when I come back I dont see my reply. I dont know if I am spamming you or not, if I am I apologize! Thanks! Yeah probe came in! Looks real good. My aspirator doesnt have the middle seem, so not sure it its a replacement, but from what I have seen it could still be a bacharach. I do have the red ends but they are more pink now lol. Anyway! I tried searching your channel on FB. If you have a way for me to reach you that would be awesome! I have looked EVERYWHERE for that file and cannot get any help. It would be HUGE if you find it. Also, I am super happy to give you detailed pics and measruments of the real probe. Its made of fiberglass so its super light! REALLY cool! Thanks for vids. I gave you a sub. Your sniffer looks great!!
Hey man! I really appreciate these vids. I am the newly proud owner of a special 302. Its actually 2 solid halves of a 302 put together so it resembles GB more. With a date etched on there 4 months and 2 days before GB2 came out. Pretty cool! Anyway, if you ever read this. I desperately need that file for the gauge. I'm going to do the same thing. Also, if you remember the measurements youbdid for the black plate, that would be a bonus!!! Thanks man, oh, and a real Bacharach probe, bulb and hose should be coming in tomorrow!
Hi Mr. Fang. I have an album on Facebook with pics from the making of this prop. I'll try to check there for the gauge file. Congrats on the probe, bulb, and hose. I fabricated the wand of my probe, though the handle was legit. I never was quite satisfied with the results.
In my prep for the trip, I believe I'd seen a 'filming locations' page that said it was a mile marker for the joggers to know how far they'd come. I can't seem to find where I saw that at the moment.
Good point. In the February '89 script for GBII, events would have played out like this: the busters defeat Vigo and see their likenesses in the underpainting. THEN Louis arrives via bus, making a bowling date with Slimer. He sees the celebrations, asks if he's too late, and Ray tells him he's right on time and hands him a bottle of champagne. Then Hardemeyer has this little denouement: "EXT. MUSEUM ENTRANCE - NIGHT (SAME TIME) B132 Hardemeyer staggers out of the museum covered in slime. He looks at the celebrating crowd and his eyes fill with tears. HARDEMEYER (weep?) Happy New Year, everybody! He joins in on Auld Lang Syne." Then the busters basically blackmail Mayor Lenny into paying them for both their 1984 services and 1989 services, by threatening to leave the Statue of Liberty lying on the ground right where she is.
During the end credits, Hardemeyer was seen among the crowd singing with them and I have wondered how he got out of the slime wall. My guess it when the slime was weakening as the growd was singing, it must've released Hardemeyer.
That was by deliberate design. I wanted to collect the Belushi-relevant segments from these three interviews with the actors who played the Ghostbusters. But for more of them discussing the movies, check out my full Bobbie Wygant playlist. She also interviewed Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, and Rick Moranis. Plus I've got two more interviews she did with Bill Murray.
Between this interview and GBII was Harold's bad experience with the sequel to Caddyshack. He wanted no involvement, but the studio exerted various pressures, including saying it would get made with or without him. When he was unable to get Rodney Dangerfield for it, he wanted to leave the project himself, but was told if he took his name off the picture, it would look bad in the press, so was convinced to keep his name on it. All around, a miserable experience for him. He might have said 'never again' after that, but after a lunch meeting with all the other cast and director from Ghostbusters, they reportedly went into it very against the idea, but had so much fun at the lunch they decided to work together again. Maybe for Harold it was a way to be in on the sequel from the get-go this time and not be forced into it by a studio or contractual obligation.
if you're gonna milk people out of their money just like 20yrs ago when they took the old starwars and added abit more and made us made money to see the same sh!t again they should do it with this, i would totally like to see a better version of old material that isn't even a reboot/remake as its usually proper footage, although they cut it makes sense to some extent, its a family film, why are they killing people? just like frozen empire, they need to ARTIFICIALLY inject shock value by getting garaka kill innocent people
Noooo! I was hoping at the end of this video that you would have found the basement stairwell that leads to the lab. The deleted scene shows it clearly but to this day I have yet to find anyone that has located exactly where the lab is. Have you discovered it since this video?
Nope. I seem to remember ten years ago when researching this trip, I saw a comment on a forum by a Columbia student who said that deleted scene glass door was the entrance to a steam tunnel. But what building it was in, I never knew. The lab for the ESP test is also on campus, it was a cover set to be used for inclement weather. (Meaning if it rained and they couldn't do exteriors, they could move to the cover set and still be able to shoot something.)
I`ll give Dan credit for being consistent over the years with his evaluation of this situation of his late friend John Belushi. Maybe Dan knows something about this situation that he can`t share publicly, but I`m surprised how he always gives Cathy Smith a pass for John`s death in a way.
