Just stumbled across the channel. Dan I played against your Drukhari round 1 at the NEO, thanks for the great game and being a great opponent! Hope you enjoyed the rest of the weekend
My gut tells me that theyre too expensive but i havent really pushed warriors too much. Plus my local friends mostly play VERY killy armies like Space Marines and T.Sons so every time i run them it just takes a squad of Aggressors or a doombolt and some flamers to completely wipe them out. Next week Im gonna run a no thoughts; head empty list thats has 3x 20 Warriors with T.Shroud Overlords, Plasmancers and Szeras in Awakened Dynasty for good strats. A Reanimator to help get some more warriors back, 2x Triarch Stalkers and 2x Doomsday Arks. Im hoping the Res Orbs and AoC that Szeras Gives will be enough to keep them alive long enough to at least get to the middle of the board. Meanwhile the Triarch Stalkers can both be Distraction Carnifexes and remove Cover for big damage from the Warriors and Doomsday Arks to punch up and actually deal damage at significant range.
Doombolt is the bane of my life with Tson. Somehow my friend always rolls 6s for their damage its just a pain to watch, not to mention the flamers are vile as you mentioned. 60 Warrior list is something that is on my to do list so please let me know how it goes! I like the 2 doomsday arks but not considered using the Triarch stalkers before!
@@WorHammer40k I love the Triarch Stalker in this edition. Again, all my friends run very killy armies so it's 50/50 on if they get smashed early, but they scout up 8" and move another 8+" so they can get in your opponent's face very quickly. And with the Heat Ray and it's Melta or Heavy Flamer profile they're just dangerous enough to be taken seriously which means they're either going to take the hits for your other heavy hitters, or get ignored and slap back pretty hard. Plus they're alot of fun to run alongside some Lokhusts to get the most of that -2 AP, which should translate well with the warriors.
New necron player here, would it be possible to transport a twenty necron warrior unit in two ghost arks? Or is there a specific rule that prohibits this?
The Legions grow! I love to hear a new player has joined our ranks. Basically you cant split it :( When you put a unit into a vehicle that entire unit needs to go in it. So splitting a squad of 20 into two Ghost Arks isn't allowed. Love the idea though.
@@WorHammer40k Dammit, i was trying to find some kind of loophole to make ghost arks with twenty necron warrior units viable but alas. I guess i'll just use them as dedicated support. Thanks for the feedback, love the channel.
@@smokeybanes that kind of inventiveness is the mark of a great general! GW will have to give Ghost Arks something if they want to see them in competitive lists. So maybe your idea will be the answer! In the meantime, Ghost Arks are still a cool unit that can be great fun in casual and narrative games
Congrats on 1500 subs; Ringtons sponsorship when? at 27:00 its only True line of sight if your within or touching the terrain feature ( provided its ruins ) ; only airplanes have "true line of sight" if your sight would go over a piece of ruins terrain and you aren't in it or touching it you can't shoot unfortunately. ( Came up in one of my games at NEO )
I've had lots of success with 10 man units to hold objectives and do actions at low points lists. I've found that at 1000 points just getting 10 T4 SV4 wounds that are immune to chip damage on the table for 100pts is just so much toughness that you can just be sure to keep those objectives while the rest of your army does a bunch of danage. Although I do main a Silent King + Nightbringer stat combo so my experience will be wildly different to most players.
But do they do a job 5 Immortal's can't do? Just wondering if you have compared them? Immortals are fewer sure, but they are also cheaper and T5 and SV3, and their added range will let them give effective supportive fire further away. I would think that would be more cost-effective in most cases (unless you drop them there in Ghost Arks of course)
I mainly play 2k games so 1k games is a good shout, the likely hood of something taking a blob of 10 off the field in one strike is less with the ability the ghost ark has. Great idea.
First up, massive congratz on the subs :D I hope you both had fun at the tourney, it certainly sounds like you will with the lists. Thanks for the shout out as always. I'm really looking forward to meeting you two in the real and maybe we might be teamed up or at least get to play each other.
We both had a class time over the weekend, met some great people, and played some class games. Be great to catch you in person and roll some dice together. We're both looking forward to it :)
I would of taken any tips you had! First time running them and felt like a like an absoulte fool being told that my little fellas have sustained when they charge 🤣
Congratulations on the 1.5k already that's huge!!! Can't thank you both enough for such a warm welcome and for being the inspiration for me and the lads coming down to see you and compete. We all had such a good time, although gutted I didn't get a chance to get a game against you both. Thank you also for the kind words, very much appreciated....although I know you are both very handsome gents but I'm not going as far to give you the hawk tuah treatment 🤣🤣❤️
@@Mark.Matthews it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and some of your pals, Mark! Let us know when there's something going on in Edinburgh and we'll see if we can return the favour
So - you can make a little OC bomb. 10 warrior + HQ (Chronomancer or RW is best) - then you use it in Hypercrypt. You can 3" deep strike the ghost ark, drop out the warriors which is then only limited by the 1" engagement range. Nightscythe does it 'better' - but the Ghost ark can do actions and actually help hold the objective. If the warriors live, it's going to get them back up to 10 fast afterwards.
Ghost ark with chronomancer with 10 warriors. Send it up the field disembark the warriors. Shoot and scoot back in with chrono's ability. Shoot with the ark.
0:01 Lets see: throw just a technomancer inside an ark. Keep the barge in front of your warrior line, soaks up damage and charge blocks. Only 125 points for it isn’t the worst imo
That being said, in the Awakened Dynasty detachment I enjoyed bringing two Ghost Arks and no warriors. I put a Skorpekh Lord with the 4+++ enhancement in one and Illuminor Szeras in the other. Used both of the ghost arks to clog the center of the board while Skorpekh Lord Did actions and Szeras walked up with Immortals to blast everything in the way. It was fun and would try again even with the parish nexus changes to actions.
Yea the only viable way to use a ghost ark is to have it support a big Blob of warriors but getting those gears to turn is just so much of a hassle. -You gotta make your Warrior squad which is likely going to have an Overlord and Technomancer to get it as durable as possible. -You gotta get that Warrior Blob into position which can be an absolute chore, especially if you aren't playing Hypercrypt. -You gotta bring an infantry character to start in the ghost ark to make it legal. -And lastly, you have to make sure your big ass ghost ark is close enough to give the Reanimation trigger but also in a place it can shoot as well as block a lane. So many hoops man.
not to kick a ghost ark while its down buuuuuut tank shock is only flat toughness no bonus for being higher than opponents so can't even get 11 dice it is only going to be 9 😢 heres hoping warriors get D6 reanimation on objectives next update (which that was not broken, the D3+3 was) and this baby comes back around!
@@connorolivier380 fingers crossed they do something for warriors. We still think increasing the ark's capacity to 22 models would make warriors and arks viable
🟣 slightly off topic ... The Nightscythe ... Would a Unit of 20 Warriors, with an Overlord and a Cryptek, count as the "1 Necron infantry unit" it can Transport ... Or is that 3 units? 🤔 ... ... Simon
@@WorHammer40k yes. They didn’t have a codex till third but they had rules for destroyers immortals scarab swarms and lords that were debut in white dwarf.
I honestly had never considered running a Ghost Ark before watching this video. I just started collecting necrons seriously in January but I bought my first box back in 8th edition. Before that I played the Guard, and the Imperial Guard love their vehicles so I have several Chimeras and even 2 Valkyries. For the points cost and the transport capacity it's not worth it (but could be maybe). But I really think that if they just increase that capacity, like you mentioned, I think that both Ghost Arks as well as Warriors would begin to see more play. Right now warriors are just kindof mediocre. They aren't as bad as guardsmen, or worse, GSC though. Nowlet's imagine that GW does boost the capacity to 20 warriors and 2 character units. You're running Canoptek Court and you take a midboard objective that you don't want to lose. So use the Ghost Ark to move block a lane, disembark the 20 warriors, a technomancer, and an overlord. Have a Canoptek Reanimator hanging out next to them (additional d3 wounds on RP). That would enhance the survivability of the warriors. Now it's your opponents problem. Do they just let you keep the objective, or do they dedicate the firepower necessary to take the objective away? That might allow a doomstalker to survive another turn or two. And since it's Canoptek Court, maybe have a Spider with a full detachment of scarabs for a wound sponge, screening, move blocking, and some mortal wounds as a bonus. Expensive? Yeah kinda, but i think it's less cheesy than 6 Wraits with a Technomancer. Effective? No idea. But I think the psychological effect on your opponent seeing a veritable fortress on a midboard objective can be used to our advantage. I would like to point out that 20 Warriors equipped with Gauss Reapers can ride up to a hostile objective, disembark, then unload 40 shots with lethal hits at AP-1. This brings me to my next point, which is that they could be used as an assault transport for reaper warriors instead of immortals.
@@WorHammer40k I think one of the best things about your content is that it exposes Necron players to units that they may have never considered taking in a list. I enjoy theoretical list building and your videos encourage me to try different unit combinations and synergies. I think I will run a Ghost Ark along side a 20 warrior blob with an overlord and technomancer, backed up by a Reanimator just to see how well it performs. I think the synergies of those units have the potential to make for a surprisingly resilient combination. I'll be sure and let you know what I find out. So thanks again for all the hard work your team puts into making these videos for those of us who never really grew up and still play with toys. 😆
I got a terri..i mean great list 125 ghost ark with 220 illuninor inside 150 2xspiders 95 reanimator 240 20xnecron warriors with 85 overlord 60 technomancer 140 10x immortals 55 plasmancer 70 hexmark 70 hexmark 470 the silent king 80 3x tomb blades 80 3x tomb blade Enhancements 30 sovereign coronal 20 vial of darkness 10 Sempiternal weave How good is it? ...its a list alright it certainly has units in a order
@@WorHammer40k the main idea is to use tomb blades and hexmarks for secondary while keeping warriors and immortals within range of both luminor and sk and reanimator the necron warriors also need to be near the ghost ark so it's kind of a tight squeeze meanwhile sk and reanimator stay near spiders to keeo thrm safe while they add protection this much force in the midfield should be able to hold primary and hopefully add enough firepower to support secondary
Dimensional corridor only works if the monolith was on the battlefield at the beginning of the turn. It doesn't allow you to deepstrike it and use that strat.
Back when lychgaurd were meta, I had a group of five successfully hold off a rampager knight, with the help of the nightbringer later on, but they held it off by themselves for awhile, good times.
🟣 anybody go Big on these and use 3 Units with Character support in Hypercrypt and just own all the Objectives for longer than we had any right to do so?
