@@Pastrahmy For most of the mini tours the main prerequisite is just having tournament experience. If you play as an AM you do need an official handicap less than 4 though. Prize pool varies, basically the bigger the entry fee the bigger the purse, most tournaments try to pay out at least the top 10% of finishers, with the last paid spot breaking even.
Thankyou for taking the time to post this video. I have memories the same as yours for golf courses I played as a kid and a teenager in high-school. You're correct about the passion and love for the game and what golf has given me that changed me forever.
Came across your channel in the uk today we have lost so many courses all sold for housing development least the course is still there and there hope someone will resurrect it it looks amazing and fun to play
I was so afraid they would turn this place into housing developments as well, but once the city obtained the property I gained some hope, yet to be determined what they do with it.
It went well, I had a lot of fun. 77 wasn't the score I was hoping for but I just wanted to focus on enjoying the only professional debut I'll ever get. I'll be posting a full review of the day soon, the post round interview is out now.
I had commented on an earlier video about my return to pro completion just now at the senior level. First event didn’t go well, all mental. I couldn’t shake nerves and just swing, kept holding back or trying to guide my shots. Gotta get to a point where you just let go and trust the swing that got you there.
Im sorry to hear it didn't go the way you'd hoped but even just to be out there and competing is a massive milestone, congratulations! I've found myself doing something similar in resent rounds. I'm trying to focus on my setup and just swing.
I worked at NACC from spring of 2008 until they laid off most all the maintenance staff. This would have been around the same time you were playing there. I was at Augusta Technical College earning a degree in golf course management at the time. The closing of this course changed my career path because I never worked in the golf industry ever again. I loved working on that course. It was indeed a beautiful place and we put pride into keeping it up even without the resources to do it right. Thank you for this video, it brought back so many memories of working and playing there. Also, Go Tigers!
what a fantastic story, I have walked through an abandoned golf that sat next to my golf course, but nothing like this....... and that was in the late 70's ......... keep pushing Ben, and god bless you.
This gave me so many mixed emotions! I got nostalgia from a place I’ve never been, memories of courses I’ve seen go away, sad for this course still showing its promise yet still gone, and maybe even some hope that you could possibly see it alive one day again❤
Man i ride by the course everyday and it it extremely sad that the city of north Augusta wastes money on dumb stuff everyday but won’t put any money to fix something that already exists. Thanks for the video
I played a lot of golf there over the years. It was a great place and everyone knew one another. I wish the city could somehow reopen it one day. With the River Club possibly going private in June it would be a great opportunity for the city of NA to have a true municipal golf course for everyone to enjoy and grow old with. Ben thank you for letting us relive the past.
Ben! We graduated high school together Olivia sent me this video and just want to let you know I’m super inspired by you and what you’re doing! Happy for you brother! Good luck
That brings back a lot of memories of playing that course with my brother! We were members of this course and my dad would drop us off on his way to work! We would play all day and eat in the old clubhouse and go back and play the rest of the day! We would be on the practice putting green late in the afternoon for my dad to come pick us up! So many great memories playing this course! I sure hope they bring it back!
NACC was part of my childhood too! Got my first eagle of my life there (number 3). And those mozz sticks at the kids room in the original clubhouse were 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
I couldn't believe this video. Really emotional for me. I really appreciate your feelings about this course I played it growing up in the 70's and 80's - it taught me the game and my passion for golf (really, I think I played more rounds than you). I became a golf course architect and actually got to redesign NACC in the early 2000's, I'm touched that it means so much to you. I meant a lot to everyone growing up in North Augusta. From what I see from this video, you did an outstanding job on the video game. I am also an expert on the course - perhaps the only one that knows the course better than you, both before and after the renovation. I put a lot of love and passion into the design of that course, being that it was the one I grew up on. I still have the green details (contour drawing) and construction drawings of the course. Several times I have been call out to look at the course to see what it will take to rebuild it.... It is very sad it's gone but with your video it might create some interest - who knows - please give me a call Bill Boswell 678-231-7788. This is a great video.
I moved to the neighborhood across from the North Augusta County Club in 2007 just after the Club house burned down. I became a member after that until it closed and played when I could. My kids spent many days in the pool and I fished every pond they would let me. I wish they would bring it back to what it used to be. It was such a beautiful place to be back then.
Truly appreciate your passion for this course and recreating virtually. I can’t wait to play it again that way, but after also growing up on that course, I would love to see it come back to life and play that one all over again. Had my one and only hole in one there! Again, thank you for sharing this. Brought back tons of memories of NACC!
Thank you again. You brought back so many memories, we left to joint mount vintage. That was the first down hill fir nacc, mnt vintage first then the river course. That pretty much put nacc out of business.
I can promise you did not play as much as we did growing up in the 80s and 90s parents would drop us off every day or ride with grandfather at 7 30am to the course. . We would play 54 to 72 holes, we gambled when it rained putting in the locker room to the air vents. Ms Kay worked in proshop and basically raised us out their. Jd was the cart guy and would let us pick up rang balls or take the carts underneath.
What a video! Thank you so much for sharing. I also grew up playing on this course everyday and have similar memories with my daily foursome like the one that you mentioned. I would also be interested in helping to resurrect the course to its former glory. If that could be possible.
So much detail and passion in this video. I also grew up playing North Augusta Country Club, it was the place I learned to love the game. Hopefully one day we will be able to see return to its full glory.
I absolutely love and respect how open you are being about your experiences and your feelings towards this golf course. I am so glad that you put this out into the world. I speak of my very first golf course in a similar manner. (Bluff Creek Golf Course) Only difference is I started playing golf after graduating high school and could only afford to play the 6 or 7 am reduced rates at BCGC. It made no difference. I fell in love hard. I can't imagine literally growing up with a golf course and the camaraderie that you had and having it be torn from you in an instant. Keep your head up man, you've made someone all the way up in Minnesota get in their feels about a golf course I've never even been to. I love the way you carry yourself and how well spoken and open you are, you got a subscriber for life. - Eli
Wow, this truly means so much to me, thank you for the kind words. I had so much fear that I would fall short of doing NACC justice and not portray what it truly meant to me. To hear that it resonated and connected with you is incredible, it's amazing how regardless of time or place this game can connect people so deeply.
Special place! When we would get rained out, we would go to the locker room and putt to the vents for a plate of fries. Junior Invitational, the dogfight, the fried chicken was the best ever. Sure do miss it. Thanks for doing this.👊🏽
It's not a fate I'd wish on anyones club, it's bittersweet knowing that all we have left are the memories. I feel lucky to have played it and heartbroken that it's gone.
You'd be surprised, the reason I asked was becuase so many people were saying it didn't count. I think it should, so I'm glad the internet agrees with me.
Gaining weight is hard, you not only need to be in a calorie surplus but you have to make sure you get enough protein and lift enough weights to make sure that weight turns to muscle and not visceral fat. I would say (as someone who is going through a weight loss transition) that getting in at least 200 grams of protein a day and lifting 4 days a week would be a good idea. Taking a creative supplement might also be a good idea. Most importantly, you need to find your maintenance calories you burn, for someone like you I would guess around 3000 (maybe more) and eat 500-700 more than your maintenance. You probably already knew this but if not I hope this helps! You got this man!
Thanks for the tips! I’ve heard some stuff about protein intake but I always struggle to get that many grams. How do I find out my maintenance calories?
@@benutahgolf there’s a couple ways you can do it, a rough estimate is to multiply your body weight by 15 and that’s around your maintenance, the way I did it was I have a “inbody” machine at my gym which tracks a bunch of data like basal metabolic rate (how many calories you burn at rest) etc. I try to be in a calorie deficit so I usually eat around my Ben calories within 200-300 calories as my activity would make me burn more calories naturally. I would basically do the opposite if I were you and I wanted to gain weight. So eating around 3000-3500 calories to start is a good place. Again making sure you’re getting enough protein in to support muscle building. I’ll leave a separate comment about how to get more protein in.
@@benutahgolf a good way to up your protein intake is to find a good protein powder that you enjoy. I would recommend Ryse protein (it’s my favorite). I like the skippy peanut butter flavor and the blueberry muffin flavor. Other ways to up the protein intake are pre made protein shakes (fairlife makes a great one that tastes like chocolate milk). If you’re looking for more savory applications, any form of chicken, beef, eggs (egg whites have more protein than whole eggs), reduced fat dairy, beans etc. If you also struggle to eat a lot of calories, I would cook all your food in a little more oil, incorporate some more peanut butter (or any nut butter) into your diet. These foods are calorie dense but don’t fill you up that much. Hope this info helps man! I’m just a guy going through a body change too, I’m not a doctor. If you have any worries about anything I would definitely consult your doctor. Best of luck! Excited to see your progress!
Nice life lesson. Just try it. I climbed Longs Peak multiple times 60 years ago. Always used the old Cable route on the north face as it was shorter than the Keyhole route. Loved the video.
Thank you! Longs Peak is such a wonderful place with a lesson to teach us all. Im glad you were also able to climb it, it's really hard to know what it's like to be there without doing it.
After playing some holes with you today Ben…do not quit, keep chasing that dream and the process that comes with it. Looking forward to seeing you out there again! “One Life, Roll the Dice”
Thank you for the support! It was a pleasure getting to play with you, absolutely elite call taking the 3 wood over the water. Easily the best shot of the day, theres something to be said for just playing loose and going for it.
Man, I needed this today! I'm going through the same, exact mental fight. Keep with it. There is no quit in us. Maybe we will be on tour someday and can look back at this. If you ever need to talk, let me know.
Thank you for the reassurance, it's always much appreciated. Same to you, keep your head up and keep going! Are you planning on playing any mini tours this year?
Sounds like you remember your "WHY". Now its time to fall in love with the process and all the hard work that lies ahead. Stay committed to your your direction, your trajectory and your convictions. Keep climbing and one day you'll stop, look around and realize you made it. The work and effort is what makes the view so sweet. Keep Going!!!
Don’t forget to have fun Ben. Golf to me, is more than just the score. It’s the environment, the highs/the lows, the smell of the greens. The feel of the way the club hits the ball. I hope that helps with your focus on the game
All those little things are the reason I'm in love with golf. But it's sure is a lot easier to focus on them when you're playing well haha. You're right though, my focus needs to be on fun and playing for the love of the game, not to shoot some score.
