I will just stick with steam controller og, as it seems like a better product with the track pads. I still use mine on steam and with steam deck as well.
I’ve been using iOS 18 since it came out, and it’s ok, it’s not a groundbreaking release, but I agree with you, there are some intersections and useful features. Very good video.
really wish people would stop calling this the spiritual successor to the "Steam Controller" or the "Steam Controller 2". it is neither of those and while Hori does make many excellent controllers I'm at the wait and see stage of things with this one. I personally want an actual "Steam Controller 2" from Valve themselves or heck they could call it the "Steam Deck Controller" for all I care as long as it has all of the Steam Deck controls.
Agreed, I think if valve actually created a dedicated controller with the same controls as the steam deck with buttons for big picture mode and steam overlay, that would be a pretty solid controller that would sell very well.
I suspect that we will get a US release, pretty sure Steam is a lot bigger in the US and European markets and not only does HORI have branches in the USA and Europe, but they have also released versions of this controller for the Switch and XBOX (This is why two of the remappable buttons are in an odd spot on the front, as the Horipad Pro and Horipad Plus both have audio controls there) I'm probably going to try to get my hands on one or two Steam Horipads through a proxy service, though if it doesn't have rumble like I've heard some people say I may try to make my own using an RP2040 or something (I have been using an 8BitDo controller for my Steam Deck and Steam Machine, but they don't support using the home button in macros so I can't have a dedicated QAM button)
I’d definitely agree with you there. I feel like it’s probably going to make its way to other markets. Hopefully it isn’t a huge timeline. But you’re absolutely right, you can always use alternative services to get products from the Japanese market shipped elsewhere. Sounds like a good idea, that’s true, the lack of rumble is definitely something that is a bit of a downer. Especially for the $50 price tag.
@@mzmel1 no it's not. a tablet has the capability of downloading apps and doing a lot more than just reading and sketching. BOOX makes eink tablets, but Kindle only makes ereaders.
I just got the 16Gb model & premium pen for just £190.00 inc delivery and I love it. It's definitely worth the money for me as it does what I need albeit a little slow. It's also nicely made too although i don't think it's waterproof.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying your kindle! I feel the same about mine. Definitely does what it does well! It’s definitely not waterproof though. So I’d avoid jumping in the pool lol
Hori products are good and well-designed, but something about these controllers... maybe it's too crowded with buttons. I still like my Xbox Series X controller that I like... except for the D-pad when playing 2d games.
I agree with you there, I mainly just use the Xbox Elite Series 2. I think it would be really nice if Valve redesigned a steam controller for the US market that had a similar design to the elite with 4 paddles on the back. Controllers are definitely interesting. Everyone has their own preferences for layout and complexity.
@@jackofmanytrades When my original Xbox 360 USB controller died, I bought a Steam Controller for tuppence. And that thing was just the hottest of garbage.
needs the dual trackpads and 4 buttons on the back or it's not good enough for me hahahah heck i've been using the steam deck "AS A CONTROLLER" for the games that are too hard on it if i can't run a game on deck yet i'm home then i can do the streaming option and ignore the deck screen and look at my 4k60 ultra settings game instead annnnnd yes latency is perfect for input, not so great for visuals but input is near flawless so that's what i'm gonna keep doing until there's a real steam controller 2
I agree with you there, I’m definitely more a fan of 4 back buttons. Definitely hoping to see Valve release a true successor to the steam controller for the US market soon.
Glad you found the video helpful! So the tough thing about portrait mode is that you’re pushing the center of gravity up rather high and since the iPhone is so light other than that, balancing will be a bit of a challenge. I think in general, you’d probably want to get something to counterbalance that can be attached to the baseplate. Since the iPhone is not what these things were made for. It’s always a bit of a challenge.
@@jackofmanytrades noted sir! I have plan to add some handle bar beside phone cage, I've observation and I think to balance next cage probably helping weight in balance. Well, i have plan to buy dji om6 or zhiyun smooth, but caps load it's only 300gr something. With filter cage and ssd its overload 😅
@yankarda144 yeah, absolutely. Unfortunately, no one really makes gimbals with strong enough motors specifically for smartphones. I think it’s a bit unfortunate for sure. But thankfully, gimbals made for cameras have enough power to handle smartphones in general. Albeit with some need to improvise as far as counterbalancing.
I was looking for some info on the degrees as I have a rather small room where I mostly shoot my videos. I will go with the 36 degrees, thanks! Anyone interested go to 4:35
That’s true, the iPad is well-positioned for the AI features. I only feel it would have been great if they made more use of the power throughout the OS.
I havent had any problems with mine and i love it. I charge it then keep it in my bag and it heats up to a boil in 15 min! I usually dont need it that hot though, so its even faster. Havent had any leaking, you should of called cust service , maybe yours is defective. I think this product is great for coffee on the go.
I have the M1 as well, it’s great. Everything is still perfect. That OLED screen is really the only draw for me. The new Magic Keyboard seems to be a def upgrade though. I will probably trade in my old one for $510 credit towards new one. That is the way. 😅
It’s definitely not the kind of device everyone will dig. But it’s very good at the things it does. So it’s just making the decision of it fills a gap.
It really depends on where you position your camera on the track. I have been able to use 24 ish if I have the camera as far forward as it can be. I don’t know if you can go any wider since I don’t have anything wider.
SteamOS is not a closed ecosystem, its more open than windows, safer than windows... Windows is terrible os by default and worse on a small handheld. Another great thing about the windows handhelds is the poor customer service... very poor aka asus.
hahaha what a coincidence. Just got into looking into a getting a Steam Deck, came across your video and heard my music. Awesome! So I had to give a 👍🏻for using my track in your intro & outro 😏
Liam Black, so great to hear from you! Thanks for putting your music on Audiio! I really like it! If you decide to pick up a deck, you’ll absolutely love it! So fun! 🫡
@@jackofmanytrades Appreciate it Jack! Glad to see it going to good use too! Also subbed for some upcoming handheld news in the future 🤙🏻 I’ve kinda set my heart on the steam deck but if the steam os makes it on a possible smaller third party devices this year then I might be open for a u turn, lol. I just can’t be doing with windows anymore tbh
@liamback.mp4 thanks so much! Steam OS is definitely really nice from a convenience perspective. I know Valve have plans to make it available for other platforms but who knows how long it’ll actually take for that to become a reality.
I have been using the developer beta on the iPhone and iPad since the keynote, it’s ok, not that special in my opinion, I am really happy with the calculator, so at least that’s something, other than that, it wasn’t anything special. 😳
Yeah, that’s been my experience as well. Hoping that once the AI stuff comes to my Mac and iPad that I’ll notice a bigger improvement to the experience. Either way, I’ll be working on videos showing the new OS features.
You need to go into the quick menu settings and select manual focus from there. I’ve not had to use manual focus though. The only thing I typically will use is manual keystone which can be done by holding the mute button as a shortcut.
I believe I mentioned this in the video. But no. The gimbal is made for actual cameras and so it cannot control the iPhone camera. If you need that functionality. You need to go with an alternative solution to attach to the gimbal handle.
Thanks for your hands on review of the new IPad Pro, pencil, and Magic Keyboard, it definitely makes me consider upgrading from my original iPad Air. I’m sure once I can upgrade 💴 I’ll see a big performance gain. Looking forward to seeing a long term experience follow up video. Thanks.
I’m not sure about the android app. But the Mac app allows you to change screen size and position. Anything else, you’d probably need the beam. Though I don’t have one and can’t comment on how it works.
Yes, it’s definitely going to be pretty exciting to see how plugin compatibility will work! I know there’s been lots of frustration over still not having plugins on the QC. So this will start to solve that problem.
Ultimately, it’s gotta be your decision if it’s going to fit your needs. I will say that it has been a great speaker for my needs. It gets loud, it’s durable, and has good fidelity of sound. Overall, I’d still recommend it in 2024. But I’m also not particularly in the market for new speakers either.
I think 3-in-1 are the next big thing for handheld PCs. TBH if they made a handheld PC That's just a controller, no screen, or a smaller screen for navigating menus, and you plug in AR glasses I would get that.
I hear ya there. Unfortunately it may be a bit niche for mass markets. But the good thing is that especially with devices like the Lenovo legion go that have multiple USB C ports, you can play as long as you want with AR glasses since you can charge while playing. Only thing is the form factor remains relatively large. I’m definitely a big fan of the AR glasses trend and have been using them for quite a while now.
I really think the next steps are portability and price. The main barriers to these devices at the moment are how expensive they are for such a niche area, and how difficult they are to actually take with you anywhere.
I hear ya, there’s definitely always the compromise between portability and price. I feel if we could have a foldable with detachable controllers, that’d solve the portability problem. But it’d up the price. Fortunately, with loss leaders like the steam deck, the barrier to entry isn’t horrible. But things could always be more commoditized.
It is my sincere hope that Valve is taking note of the various devices available and drawing inspiration for the development of the Steam Deck 2. In particular, I believe it would be advantageous to design the device in a manner that allows for the simple removal of the SSD, thereby enabling the installation of Windows on one SSD and Steam OS on another. Additionally, an increase in battery capacity would be desirable. Furthermore, the exploration of potential accessories, such as a case that doubles as a keyboard, presents exciting possibilities for enhancing the overall user experience.
Definitely, I think they would really benefit by listening to consumer feedback and looking at what the competition is (or is not) doing. I think the current design’s SSD is really pretty simple to remove and replace. But would be interesting if they gave a second SSD slot for us to make use of.
I was considering the Onexplayer x1 mini's design, where the SSD is located beneath the kickstand and the case appears to have a slot for an additional SSD. Additionally, having an extra slot is appealing. I admire the Steam Deck's design and hope they maintain it while making improvements.
Microsoft will launch the Xbox Handheld in a couple years, for around $350-$400, it will be more powerful than a series S, but not quite as powerful as a series x, but it will have better Ray tracing capabilities, albeit stuck at 1080p, and shortly after they will introduce the first aftermarket Xbox handled, the Alienware version, followed by an ASUS version, and probably a Lenovo version, all of which will use the same hardware specs (APU/Ram) but will have small variations like SSD size, screen size (but not resolution), panel type (someone will make an OLED), and if we are lucky, Microsoft will allow you to link your steam account and play your steam library on the console ( as long as you are a Game Pass “Elite” subscriber at the crazy $24.99/month, maybe $29.99/month ), albeit not ALL games will be compatible, just games already compatible with the Xbox ecosystem. And as a bonus, anyone who pre-orders the Xbox Handheld will get a free copy of the “Skyrim Handheld Anniversary Edition” releasing November 17, 2027, the same 10- year anniversary of its release on switch, which will include the all new DXR Update, so you can experience Skyrim the way it was never intended to be experienced…with glorious Global Illuminations at a staggering, 30fps in 1080p….most of the time…except when it crashes, or your mods break, cause they will all break…
Not sure where you’re getting these numbers from. But the A7RV can output 4K 24, 30, 60 FPS RAW over HDMI and cannot do 120 FPS at all. If you need high frame rates, go for the FX3. Though you’re still limited in terms of what you can do with RAW.
@@jackofmanytrades You were talking about A9M3 and you said it does 240 fps RAW ... And also you said the A9-III is 6000$ and A7R-V is 3900 but then you said the difference is " eleven hundred " dollars which makes either the A9-III 5000$ or the A7R-V 4900$ . Have a look at your video again. I'm not here to throw bad things at your work Sir. I liked your video and enjoyed watching it over all. Just wanted to let you know there are some small errors which you might take care of next time.
Oh yes, I apologize I was thinking of video. You’re correct. In the context of photos, you’re absolutely correct. The A9III can do a lot higher in terms of its overdrive mode (120 fps). Thanks for your comment.
I don’t think so. You kind of just get people who request gear from time to time and sometimes they’re doing weddings. Other times, personal projects or short films.
So don’t know if you realize that in the beginning you say that its a $1,100 price difference between the cameras but its a $2,100 price difference lol and I spent my budget on the Sony A7R V and got the Sony 70-200mm 2.8 ii and the Sony 200-600mm and got the Sony 1.4 and the Sony 2x converters for them two lenses and ended up getting the viltrox 16mm 1.8 for my wide angle and northern lights photography and also got the battery grip and five batteries for it to be able to get started with it for here in Alaska
I switched from gaming laptop + Steam Deck to gaming desktop PC + Steam Deck combo. I used to play on my laptop connected to the TV, but it was sooooo loud, it was really annoying, but the portability was a plus. Now I have my desktop PC, which is so quiet, plays all my games without compomise, but I still love my Deck, and I am bringing with myself instead of the laptop for holiday for example. Another godsend feature of the Deck is the quick resume. Sometimes I play on it instead of my PC, because I want the ability to pause the game anytime I want. Never thought hanfheld gaming could be this much fun.
I don't have the living space right now. So desktop with a big desk and gaming chair is out of the question. Im constantly flipping back and forth between getting an ally since I have a decent laptop, or a gaming laptop like the new Zephryus G14.
