Thanks for checking out Ben Barry Cars. I have two decades' experience testing high-performance cars for motoring magazines, most often as a contributor to CAR Magazine. I don’t like trickle chargers. Even at low charge levels they can overcharge lead acid batteries. The car will always start giving the impression that they are great but the battery plates get damaged affecting battery life. Just bought a car with an Exide battery which was always garaged and always on trickle and it started first time for 3 days but then it was completely dead. I have an expensive tester it was registering just 58 CCA instead of 680 CCA. Far better to buy an AGM battery that has low self discharge and charge it with an appropriate AGM rated charger (they need 14.8v) every 2 weeks.
Get what you are saying about the brakes. They don't bite as early and hard as modern cars but boy, when you stand on them properly, they are awesome. I like that.
I'm looking at a 996 X50 Turbo with 285,000 km on it. It's only two owners with a full service history and all receipts - about a suitcase full. I think it's worth a punt.
sir there is some problem with your channel.this is why your channel does not get views and subscribers.to get views and subscribers.your channel video seo will do.
Hello do you feel the lack of a limited slip differential when you want to maintain a powerslide? Is it progresive when sideways like an M3 E46 for example or abrupt due to heavy tail? Thanks
I bought my 1999 C4 6speed 18” turbo style alloys Sunroof Sport back seats Miltec exhaust. Blk paint Grey interior Love this car. Bore score clear certificated. Trying to ignore the chatter on socials and forums about IMS. Do love it though dream car 911 as a boy. Can’t afford an air cooled. This is still a very good 911 and think many people are beginning to realise that now.
As of Sept 2023 M2 Auto Base OTR £64890, wheels are actually £330 bi-colour, Comf Pack £730, Drive Asst £1,100(Adaptive cruise) Carbon seats etc £9095 - Manual Base OTR is £1,200 more due to falling into the next CO2 band. HTH
A fantastic video Ben, so much so that now we're at the qtr century mark, and all the haters are slimming out a bit, with the fabulous EV future we all have to so eagerly look forward to, I've just last weekend purchased a 10/97 built 996 3.4 Carrera, RHD, with 124,000 kilometres ... It's a silver manual car, so like you, I plan to have a great time tinkering and playing with it .... thanks for the great and impartial view of your lovely car.
Had mine 4 months, ordered it in September 21, so quite a wait. Mine is a tango red carbon sportback with the RS dynamic pack, that adds ceramic brakes - which have proven to be awesome. I have now covered 1,200 miles. Concur with most of what you've said, but the B&O is poor, something many people have noticed. I managed to get it sounding just OK, but with a lot of faffing around with settings. Compared to the TTRS I had, it's not as good. The turning circle is terrible due to the wider front tyres and I've had fun trying to get out of a few multi-story car parks with tight turns on the exit ramps. I've added several components of the RS interior styling pack (not available in the UK) to my car, which does lift the interior quite a bit. The drive select is glitchy on my car, something I believe Audi will have a software fix for soon? Other than the gripes, I really like it - looks amazing with the carbon additions and is great to drive, whilst it seriously turns heads. Also, so glad mine came with Bridgestones and not the dreaded P-Zeros! It is still a rare sight on UK roads, most people I talk to have never seen one before.
Are you in Europe? I’ve got an 8Y in the U.S. and the B&O sounds every bit as good as the B&O did in my 2017 S3. Pretty much the best factory stereo I’ve ever heard, although I definitely had to tweak the settings . Everyone who rides in it with me is blown away by the stereo
@@hlf_coder6272 Tons of comments online from owners on poor sound quality from B&O in this car. One guy took the speakers apart and posted pictures - utter crap inside them, cheap build and parts. Also, poor acoustics from the cheap interior of the new RS3 don't help. Turn the sound up to half way in my RS3 and the door panels vibrate. Have now sold my RS3 and made ten grand profit.
Sound wise what a tribute to the UR quattro! Tricky on the pricing I agree £60k does bring huge expectations on refinement and finish, on the flip side UR quattros were £30k new and no difference in the cabin quality to the Coupe.
Steering wheel and the the key are on the wrong side LOL. Personal the 997 is nicer to drive and look at but the price goes up fast. 966 looks to much like the first model Boxster 986 in the front to be stunning and does not impress for that reason. Thanks for the show, enjoy yr 966 as every Porsche is special from 924 to the 992.
Great overview Berry, you honestly enjoy the drive more in a c2 vs a 996 turbo? What Navi do u have, I’d like to install the it when I get my 996. No IMS issues?
Nice exterior but I feel a historic should stay that way. No hi-tech mods, leave them to the WRC brigade. They didn't have them then and shouldn't have them now..! (rant over)
