Archus got that password he opened that file that file is Minecraft source code that you could use to hack the game no one’s ever seen before or it’s illegal stuff these are the only two options he said to only look it was very bad saying even the posts were deleted someone say that someone knows
16 bytes is the output size of the MD5 hash. It doesn't matter what the actual password is if it's being hashed down to 16 bytes. I expect that this is a misunderstanding by whoever claimed the length was 16 characters when that is the length of the resulting key. Occam's razor - there's nothing special going on here.
I don't think it's weird that it was uploaded to a public file server. Conference internet connectivity is notoriously shoddy, and they might also have needed the files on a 3rd-party machine that was connected to a projector, or something like that, so it wouldn't necessarily have had access to the company VPN, etc.
No. Minecraft world's can't be infinite in size because of the limitations of the way that computers store numbers. (Java stores an integer with only 32 bits of memory) Therefore, TNT that the endermen can get to is so rare in that finite world that infinite time will not help you.
It's just Minecraft 1.0 where the build wasn't obfuscated. I was around at the time as a modder, and that was the consensus between what we believed in the modding and forge IRC channel.
at 6:12 in the quote he says "...**** will quite literally go down.", do you think the blanked out word is meant to say Xbox? this would make sense if there is sensitive xbox dev tools in the archive
as someone who speaks french, the "aurevoir" in one of the messages means "goodbye" or "farewell" faux-divinity being "fake divinity" or "false divinity"
1) 7z encryption is strong making attacks even slower 2) the password is a real randomized 13+ character (#, upper, lower) password making that multiple thousands of years strong.
If you have the original file just run it through brute forcing a 16digit all number passcode isn’t that hard if you don’t wanna run it on your pc buy a vps and let it work
I like how it's a mystery when it could've just been the random mob spawn mechanics just started putting in creepers instead of chickens, cows and sheep or zombies and skeletons
Difference in time between tweets and then change to decoy version can be because of Amazon S3 itself. Let's assume, that Notch was uploading file from Sweden (local time there is UTC+2) in 12:23, but Amazon transferred it to UTC time and deleted 2 hours, so it's became 10:23. Or there was problems on Notch's side. Or he just changed metadata on his side. I think swap was definitely made by notch)
Imagine if we revisit the minecraft cactus computer (the website that used to find the longest auto generated cactus seed) to brute force the password.
21:05 Simple explanation: One of the other devs tells Notch about people trying to figure out what the file is. They then replace it with a decoy for one reason or another. Notch then replies on social media without knowledge of the swap.
Hardest aspect of minecraft to theorize is mob farms, why do monsters appear out of thin air and sometimes armed and they sacrifice their lives, jump into lava and even try to come after even if you set them on fire.
