personally prefer gouache paint. Dilute it as required. I use a milk like consistency. You can warm or cool a black by adding a bit of red or blue. Know that pro brands are far better than student quality. Winsor & Newton is my brand.
I'll be teaching this dynamic calligraphy at the 2024 US calligraphy conference in the US in June, custom.cvent.com/EAA4A62505474983A5031C745254A893/files/0ce1a45687894f69b2813b19f6642f5e.pdf
Lovely fun as always Denis and stimulating too. If you can put out a blog/ film once a month you will soon get a following on you tube as more people watch it than the t v these days…i also enjoyed your waterford films clearly made by you. I have learned so much from you both at conferences and on calligraohy tv…Good luck with your new toy, and keep on , keeping on !🇨🇦🌹
Sadly I have stopped putting films on RU-vid as the more I made, the less logged watches and likes I got. From tens of thousands down to hundreds over the years. It seems my FB and IG followers do not login to RU-vid so cannot like or comment.
Brilliant..I did a Calligraphy course College of Art Design Technology a Good many years ago with Denis ...Gothic script.. I took my ten year old Son..Now living in Stockholm....He did a lot of Caligraphy work as a hobby after Denis teaching..as a young boy..☘
If you can, take this wonderful course. Working with a master calligrapher will enhance everything you do afterwards. The beautifully crafted videos are both historic and artistically appealing, not to mention inspiring. Learn those classy pen manipulations that Denis shines at and love what you do. I have kept all my class work and Denis’s wonderful handouts and made a book for reference .🇨🇦🌹
Just watched your video again. Inspiration for the glass I am working on. Gold leaf, and paint, loose, loose, loose. Yet steamed in thoughts of tradition, and Medieval tools. I am a firm believer in allowing mistakes to remain, and being enhanced through learned technique. I have recently made large pieces of paper decorated with thinned down chalk paint and some with powdered mica to enhance the effect. Many different colors. My friend who has met you in Minnesota was over. We worked on these together All kinds of pens were used, also brushes, reed pens, Sumi ink alcohol ink [ home made ]. Total enjoyment. Thank you for your inspiring tutorials, and dedication to calligraphy.
Sadly, I have stopped posting to RU-vid due to lack of appreciation compared to other social media. People don't sign in and comment like you have done. I'm saving recent new films to present at the 2024 US conference at Davenport, Iowa. www.calligraphyconference.org/
@@DenisCalligraphy Denis, I will follow your direction in educating us anyway I can. I am useless with technology, but can get help from family members. My goal is to always have inky fingers. All the best to you.
I guessed you could resonate on this at many levels deeper than I can. I felt your feeliings that you shared with me, among many others. All important. Thank you always, Anne.
Thank you. As noted below: Please note that the DVD disks and packaging shown here have been replaced by online access available at www.calligraphy.tv/courses/ital2poly
It would take true courage to call out the bigotry and prejudice these days displayed against Russian musicians, artists, and athletes (many of whom by the way have spoken out against the war...)
At first I thought you'd destroyed the entire piece but it's an even more clever image once the flame is extinguished. Maybe one day the world will be lead by those who actually represent the views of the people they govern. Perhaps then there would be no more war. 💛💙❤️
Please pardon me for not responding to your comments. I remain a bit sceptical of social media. But the audience was great here and their live enthusiasm helped my interaction greatly.
Love the music of the pen and feel the stokes go through my hand and up my arm. Wouldn' you just know I saved leftover Screen from our Pool Cage rescreen. Of course.
Thanks, Di! I have to admit, as an Irishman, it took me a while to understand "I saved leftover Screen from our Pool Cage rescreen". We don't have home pools here and if we did would never screen them. Even our sunscreen is not a thing as it's stored naturally- in the cloud.
Ah Denis, the more I see this, the more I hear those strokes, and so now I hear all your strokes when I see them happen.. loved this, it really is amazing.. loved it, more, more.. thank you for it.
