Just another average Joe. A jack of some trades and master of none. I will be sharing reviews of things I use and like (as well as things I don't), projects, travel, activities of another average Joe, that hopefully you will find useful and/or entertaining. I get my hands into projects, most of which I know little or nothing about. I view videos and how to sites, but as most of you know, rarely do the fixes, projects or products you get, work out as they do in the videos. I hope to video products with all of the problems that we all tend to run into that never seem to occur in the edited DIY videos or product reviews. I will edit for time or poor filming but leave in all of my project errors and mistakes so that hopefully you don't need to.
I had this issue with my first magazine. It happened when I would cock the hammer, but then drop the hammer after not shooting. Usually when the fly got away before I could line up the shot. Just someone to keep in mind when using this.
Used your technique to load for a Vigilante because I wanted more power than my Bug a salt. Wanted even more power and range for yellowjackets. Bought a Crosman 1077 with extra magazines so now I have a rifle salt gun. The only caveat-the 12 shot mags aren’t flush so drilled some holes in plexiglass, lay a paper towel on top, sit the cartridges over the holes so they sit flush. A little more challenging to load but well worth the effort.
So I have found that if you use you Vigilante in double action it cycles the bu a salt cartridge but if I work it in single action mode it doesn't sync them up as well.
I have 3 of these wadcutter plugged ones and 3 that I made by pouring silicone into a cartridge propped up on broken toothpicks about 1/2 inch from the bottom of a small souffle cup.
I don't recall off hand. I went to the sights as I did one through a battewerx milled glock slide and one through Zev. I went to the site and on the battewerx they had a slide and site specific screw which worked fine. The Zev slide I think I went to either eBay or amazon and just ordered a screw a size down from the one I had gotten from them.
I just bought the Sig Sauer X-5 CO2 powered .177 caliber semi-auto air pistol w 20rd pellet mag. It shoots pellets and bbs. (But I'm sure you knew that, lol). I was wondering if you knew if it would be any better / worse than the Shred-er?
Probably worse. For one, I wouldn't want to mess it up shooting a lot of salt through it. The Vigilante I used in several videos is showing a lot of rust in the bore. Use the Sig for the bb and pellets. Vigilante has a plastic bore. Also it is a lot of work to reload them, I just do the videos to show that you can. 🤷♂️
I guess I used about 3:1 salt to cornstarch, but I was just eyeballing it. I think I did a video afterwards where I used just salt and added a drop of water. That one worked fine too. Whatever is easy. I usually now just do the Salt and a drop of water. It is pretty fast and Dries pretty quickly.
Yeah, not my greatest of not great videos. This version of the reloads is really not practical. I made it when the vigilante was brand new and my viewers and I were kinda brainstorming different ideas to see what would work and what was practical. This worked but was a pain to do. Salt slurry seems to be the way to do it easy and fast. Thanks for watching.
😅, If I had known it was going to react like that I probably wouldn't have done it. At the time I was having trouble finding flies for the video, luckily my kids hadn't been doing their chores and I had some fly bait. 🤷♂
I reloaded using the 4:1 ratio. Baking it for 20 minutes at 200°F eliminates the need to let them sit overnight. It worked well for me. The crosman cartridges index better on the Vigilante.
I was bored. And I for lack of better terms filled mine with spit balls. Holy s*** that worked. You have to be a little more accurate. And there's more clean up. But it definitely worked.
Hi Joe, I'm afraid I kinda forgot about this, but it so happens that someone mentioned the shoutout. While the original comment seems to have gone missing, I do remember making this statement at some point. While I'm not really the type to drink coffee, being mentioned by another channel is always an honor, which I am very thankful for. It was very interesting to see the two atually sitting side by side even if I'm two years late to the party.
I totally agree. My wife had one put in about six months before the toilet paper apocalypse. I thought it was ridiculous until trying it. Then after trying , I installed one on second toilet. When the TP famine came. We were sitting pretty. 🤔
There’s videos showing how to use the normal stock barrel and just add salt and reload stickers or go cheaper and use water soluble glue and rice paper
Thanks DN Joe. I bet there are a lot of faster and easier loads now. 😁. When I made these we were all just brainstorming as it was brand new. Personally I reloaded out of curiosity and boredom during Covid. I usually just buy the cartridges from bug-a-salt. 😁🙏🏽. Now that ammunition is now available I have just been reloading 9mm. Thank you for watching and commenting. Much appreciated. 👍
Websites “rock your glock” and Glock parts. You can check the prices between both sites . I went nuts and did all but the slide itself. If I add a red dot I would have the oem slides milled . I would stay with the oem spring poundage unless you load lighter ammo. Sometimes the ammo is shat and wind cycle the heavier springs . Anyway you can’t go wrong with those 2 sites
Thank Reef. I’ll check those out. I had a spell where I couldn’t find oem parts and went with some not so great parts that were available. I guess that’s why they were available. Thanks for watching.
I believe I was just using a Lee powder measure. That would be found in an ammunition reloading store. any little scoop would do, I just happened to have those on hand. Probably cheaper to just find some thing similar on amazon. 🤷♂️
