Improvements to the ease, speed and cleanup of reloading the SHRED-ER cartridges. In this video I use Scotch Magic tape in place of tissue paper, allowing for faster application, and clean removal after firing. Allowing for rapid cycles of shooting, reloading.
Forgive the background wind noice in a few sections as I am still trying to figure out this video editing thing, I have new mics that are supposed to help but haven't gotten them to work yet :-). At least no angle grinder this time.
Please subscribe if you find this video helpful (I don't mind if you subscribe even if you don't find the video helpful.)
I would like to acknowledge the following RU-vid members whose feedback brought about this reloading session/video.

Why was there no black ratchet centre on this disc? Do you remove it for the vigilante?

The vigilante disc is one piece. So you can’t remove it.

@@justanotheravgjoe1314 I get that, but did you remove it from the bugasalt diac to put the bugasalt disc in the vigilante??

@@arinb12 Oh right, I misunderstood the question. No, I just popped it out to make it easier to reload. You still need the black ratchet in for the vigilante.. The tape method was still a mess by the way, the later versions of reloading are much easier and faster, I left these versions up so that if people were thinking of this on their own they could see how it went.

Is the bug a salt - salt that much better?

No. Not at all. I think it is a waste of money. I only bought it to compare to my Morton’s, I use it because I already bought it.

Take some painter masking tape and a washer thats the size of the cylinder and make some precuts, cause watching you struggle to seal them up is agonizing my dude lol

Agonizing for you 😁, it was agonizing for me🥴, I was doing it all for the first time on camera. It generated a ton of brilliant feedback like yours that resulted in a factory looking load, quick, clean and easy. We got it pretty good in v.4.0 👍🏽. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lm3p2AGu0FY.html

4 videos on reloading?

Actually 3. For some reason v2 uploaded 2x. Don’t know why. Version one was just to see if reloads could be done. But was very rudimentary. Version two was looking at faster reloading with scotch tape as V 1 was clumsy and time consuming. V3 was looking at a cleaned up version of the first video as I found cleaning tape residue to be a pain. All are time consuming versus just buying the loaded cartridge, but I made the videos more as proof of concept. They are clumsy as I was doing it with you on video so you can see my mistakes or areas that could be improved upon. Hopefully saving you from my mistakes.

Much more practical method. The trick is all in the “snap”. Whatever material they use to cap the holes from the factory is what you want to copy as closely as possible. Too soft and you’ll lose pressure, and too hard and you’ll have a restriction problem. Now comes the fun part. Trying different materials in each bore hole. The Bug guys had to use salt because it’s in their name and the thing they’re known for. You don’t have that limitation. Try sugar, regular, and the large grain colored cake topping type, and anything else that comes to mind that’ll fill the holes. (Sand) You can also get really serious and use any number of shotgun shell shot. That stuff comes in close to powder size all the way up to 00 buckshot that will never fit the holes. Next thing you know you’ll be using BBs, and then it’s on to an RPG. (Haha)

StevePX thanks for the input (yet again 👍🏽). I had been planning on doing a video with a variety of loads, but mostly variations on salt. I was going to try coarser grains, and maybe some steak rubs, I like the idea of sand. The shell shot for the back yard might be a bit much as far as residue, the sand would be perfect. I think salt is more practical in the bug-a-salts (2.0 & 3.0) especially for indoor use as it doesn't get sticky when wet and is safe if on foods etc. As the SHRED-ER is a bit on the powerful side and primary use is outside, these same restrictions aren't necessary. Cake toppings sound fun as well. Salt is probably also used as it is pretty inexpensive compared to some others. There is a plastic bar crossing the entrance to the barrel that will prevent larger forms of projectile like bbs. I believe it is for breaking up any possible clumping of salt while cartridges are stored to ensure good salt spread. I was also thinking of doing a cayenne pepper disc, just for fun. Not sure how I want to test that though 🤔.
