WTF! $3,500...$6,600 cameras that you are using to making videos that most slugs watch on a little tiny screen? I use an iPhone SE...$200, and I can get 15 of those things for infinite camera angles. Your waisting time and money on expensive toys instead of creating!
The FX30 is a great camera for that situation. I swapped out the EVA for an FX30 with the top handle and FX3 combo and they’ve both been complete workhorses. For me, the FX30 gives me the look I came to love with the EVA, but with reliable autofocus.
That thought did cross my mind, but I think if I get the right lenses I should be fine. I'll make a video on my findings as soon as I get the camera and Sony 15mm lens 👍
Totally understand the pain of setting up. My fiancé and I share her A7RV for her photography and my RU-vid work. We’re currently thinking about getting a second camera for big event shoots and mainly stay setup for content.
@@YourStoryStudios I really think we might go with an A7RV. It feels the most versatile and appropriate if we need high resolution photos in the scenario of doing a wedding or something editing intensive. It also has the new color technology that I prefer out of the Sony lineup. The stabilization is excellent and when we get to doing content work it has excellent video specs.
It’s definitely helpful for some situations, adding a bit more stability when comparing to handheld, but it doesn’t look much professional when showing up on set for client works, sad but true. They’re like, how am I paying so much to this guy shooting with a cushion? Optics are important too in our industry where you deliver an intangible product, like a video. What I like about it, it’s for carrying a rigged camera on the backseat of the car between locations when time is limited. Very helpful. Cheers
Overall, whenever I use this on my shoots (which is all the time), the client doesn't seem to be put off. If anything, they see something they haven't seen before and are impressed.
Poor sensor readout is not only detrimental to very fast motion and whip pans, it affects the OVERALL MOTION RENDERING negatively. The result is more jello like footage regardless of what you do. Gyro stabilization is also negatively impacted.
In terms of Lumix, the specs look good and Panasonic went all out in giving us features, but there is a HUGE CATCH. The elephant in the room that all of these Lumix fan boys and morons fail to consider is how CHEAP of a sensor and processor Panasonic decided to use. That is why it SEEMS like the new Lumix are a "good deal". The result is HORRIBLE ROLLING SHUTTER and sensor readout.
For YT you don't need fast readout. :D listen to what the video is about. He does NOT need A7S3 for YT studio and for talkinghead Lumix is brilliant, and the S9 would perfectly fit. Small formfactor, articuliting screen, variety of codecs.
Why would you switch from the a7s3? No camera under 4 grand has been able to compete with it in the last 4 years. I switched to lumix for the s5iix and regret it every single day. The sensor really does suck. TBH, I think they need an updated log curve or something. The image is aweful. For photo it’s actually amazing Moire ruined a corporate shoot for us
I'm keeping the a7s3 for my professional work, but for my RU-vid studio and podcast recording, the a7s3 is overkill. The Sony a7cii looks to be at a good price point and has the features I need. It also has the ability to bake in user LUTs, which the a7s3 doesn't have. That's a feature I'm wanting to help speed up my editing workflow. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I think I originally pointed you to the A7Cii so obviously think that’s the better option. Similar matching colour science, familiarity with their menus, not having another lens ecosystem to worry about, live-streaming capability, the AI features and I also like the lens shutter feature should you have to swap a lens out.
You did originally point me to the a7cii! Thank you for the suggestion. I placed the order yesterday. Looking forward to putting it to work and making a video about my new workflow 👍
New S5iix owner here I was also debating between the S5iix and the A7cii after I sold off all my Canon stuff I went with the S5iix because of the highly marketed the Prores, USBC recording and the price, not just the body, but the kit with the 20-60mm is a pretty big discount, in my country for Canon and Sony purchasing the Body with lens kit costs the same as buying the lens and body seperately However Unfortunately the S5iix is unable to do anything above 30FPS without cropping in, but for my needs, I needed the internal fan and better sooc colors, hence the s5iix
People don’t talk enough of the importance of having an upgrade path in your camera system. You can start either the FX30 all the way to the cinema line and beyond
You could get the amazing Sigma lenses for the Lumix. The 24mm f2 or the 24mm f3.5 should be good alternatives to the Samyang 24mm f2.8 on the Sony. And the A7CII can overheat and only has 1 card slot, so the Lumix should be much more reliable. BTW you won't get focus breathing compensation on non Sony lenses.
Good points. I saw some tests with the Sigma lenses for the Lumix and they had a lot of focus breathing which turned me off. From my research, it looks like the a7cii doesn't over heat, even though it doesn't have a fan. I think I'm willing to risk it and go with the Sony. I've been checking the approved lens list for breathing comp and the Sony lenses I'm looking at getting are on them 👍
@@YourStoryStudios I saw Matter Johnson's review of the A7Cii and he noted that it overheats almost just as fast as the A6700. You might want to check out his review.
All Lumix L mount lenses have breathing compensation (electronically), including the 24mm f/1.8. Also, you could save money and get the S5ii as it also has a fan like the S5iix.
I'm tempted to just try out the Lumix to see how well it performs... but something tells me the Sony is the right choice for me. What do you film with your Canon RP?
Do not worry about overheating with ZV-E1! Had it in 38 degree sun in Thailand without it overheating and running at 120 fps. If you just record in studio with 24 fps you will definitely be fine.
I’ve been looking at the S5iix and there’s something about the motion cadence, or the image, that looks a bit off to me. Not sure if it’s just in my head or just the couple of videos I’ve looked at. Compared to Sony footage, the motion looks a bit blurry and I don’t think it’s a shutter speed issue. Let me know if you have any thoughts.
@@YourStoryStudios the rolling shutter in the Sony is definitely faster, but as long as you don't film sports or fast action, I don't think you'd have any issues with the S5IIX. The only time I prefer to use the ZV-E1 is in very low light, because of the second base ISO of 12800 vs 4000 in the S5IIX. But in a studio environment, I would pick the S5IIX every time
@@YourStoryStudios I was originally considering waiting for the A7s IV or get the Canon R8. The guy at Digidirect recommend I consider the Lumix. Did some research and it turned out to be great value as well as having features I wanted that the others didn't have or had them at much higher priced cameras. My concern was the AF which had improved after the FW update and glass. While they don't have a lot of it, I just need the ones that I would need for youtube. Just picked up a Sigma Art 24mm DG HSM f1.4 for under $800 aud also at Digidirect. Really happy. Came from Nikon D500 and Canon 200D.
@@YourStoryStudios I only got it on Wednesday, so I haven't used it that much. From what I have used, it's been perfect. I haven't been able to flaw it it on the S5iiX in video. Photo is working fine.
Have you considered the A7C2 with its full frame A74 sensor that only crops at 60 fps which I presume you won’t use in the studio. It’s surprisingly not prone to overheating and is also good for live-streaming
So many great cameras out there! Now LUMIX have their autofocus game together I’m considering adding the GH7 to the arsenal for b cam and gimbal work duties. To be honest I wish they just held off on the GH6 a little while and put PDAF in that camera! The G9II had it not long after. Oh well.
Great video as always. In S-Cinetone my FX6 out of camera is always more magenta tinted compared to my A7S3. Appreciate you can use CineMatch but did you tweak any colour settings in the FX6 to get them to broadly match?
I’ve only really used the FX6 and a7S3 in Slog3. Then I’d match them with CineMatch. I don’t recall doing much more tweaking, but I’ll be recording a podcast this week with my 3 Sony cameras. I could possibly make a video talking about what I find!
@@YourStoryStudios that would be really helpful as you should not expect such a difference when they're supposed to have the same sensor and while 10bit allows me to match things quite well in Premiere Pro Lumetri Colour it would ne good to know if there is an obvious tweak you can make
A7RV, that is the camera I need. I have heard this in my mind a lot of times. There a lot of APSC vert affordable lenses, it's worth considering something like the FX30 or a6700. You can probably get 2 of these plus APSC lenses and still save money. 4k 60 all modes and 26Megapixel sensor, also custom luts and same Slog advanced mode of the FX6 in the FX30.
Great to see you back on RU-vid! I've been struggling with back issues as well for ages, it's the worst when it flares up during a shoot day. Might have to give the Chiro a go!
When we all work together we grow together! I always enjoy working for other productions and agencies. Great to hear you are staying busy, RU-vid is a grind! I'm currently editing a new video.
Thanks! I think I might pack up Studio Omega and set up a home gym... just seems to make sense for my current stage of life and the jobs that I am being paid for.
@@YourStoryStudios Yea, unless you are having clients over to film it might be overkill. And the nuobell adjustable dumbbells are great for a home gym!
THANK you! I searched 30min for only one shot in interview-scenario on whole youtube! :D thx !!! I was not sure if the 320mm is enough for interviews. but like your opinion: it gives more quality to the whole shot. thx. =)
The Raid: Redemption was exclusively shot on this camera...think about that the next time you think you need a better camera and thats why your shots are amateur 😅
