2 years ago I had an 870 evo 4tb fail. Was refunded within a week when the store declared it dead. Now I'm looking for an SSD to replace my last mechanical drive that started clicking (14 year old drive - did well 🥲). Not sure if Samsung fixed this though?
Thanks for the heads up! Unfortunately, I got a bad 2TB batch! Purchased in 1/21 from Best Buy for $265, had about 15gbs of music on it as a backup. And now it doesn't even up in Windows Explorer, or Samsung Magician! Now it's just a doorstop! 😡
My 870 EVO just died today. Bought it in 2021 so I guess I now know why. Although mine was just flat out banished from existence. It wouldn't show up at all in BIOS and having the thing plugged in wouldn't let Windows boot from my actual boot drive, which was a completely separate NVMe. Wild.
Thanks for sharing! ❤ I’ve also got this air fryer and found it to be great for everyday cooking. I’ve also done a review showcasing the different features Ninja provides: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y4dl3LbmaqQ.html - hopefully it’ll be helpful for someone!
Had mine a few weeks and no complaints... I did have the keys not registering but only very very rarely. I found it only happened when I was pressing the keys really hard. I now have the downstroke at 0.2 and the upstroke at 0.3 and its never happened again since.
in playing competitive games its the not good enough for any keyboard, and that's the last thing you want, and it happened way to many times to me hence I had to send it back!
@@solzzy I think you must have had a faulty one or you had it too sensitive. as i say two weeks in and play competitive valorant every day and not had a single issue.
If I bought one of these Samsung solid state drive in 2024 will I have these issues? Got a nice rig and I wanted to add some solid state drives to my pc in the built in bay. So i put 2x2TB of them in the mounting bay. Says it comes with a 5 year warranty.
Hello , great video ! Does VRR and HDR still work using custom resolutions? Edit! did you set this up in Nvidia control panel or CRU? Please share how you got HDR working :)
@@bkjgvjggh7654 Don't worry too much. A certain percentage of electronic boards just fails. A small percentage. I watched many repair videos now. Many times it's one single capacitor that makes a short. I think I have identified in my case that the 5V rail is shorted. I had not enough time to do more up to now but in the next month I will hopefully have time to find out exactly where the short is. Most important: Always have a backup of the important data on your SSD. Because I had a full backup of about one month back it was not that bad. But still, the bureau-crazy with Samsung made me nuts. I didn't get the warranty that I should have got. This makes me very mad about Samsung. Other Samsung devices work great. Ok, with the Galaxy S3 was also a desaster. Samsung had to quickly produce the S3 Neo and sell it for a cheap price to not get a huge customer complaint wave. But the Galaxy S8 still works, since maybe 6? years. Good timespan for a mobile compared to others. The Samsung TV also works flawlessly.
hi there all , I bought 2 of these 1tb drives for my laptop and desktop pc. I have been using them since 6 months. And they are working great. No issues so far, whatsoever. Its now easy to use my old laptop and desktop with speedened boot times and accss to files. Looks like samsung rectified all those issues which were there from the past. Kudos on that for samsung. Go for it and you will love it and thank me later, if you remeber me.
I bought the AW QDOLED last year,I wish if I had waited for 42” LG.I am used to 4K and I can easily notice QD-OLED’s lower resolution, also I really don’t like Ultrawide and despite what some people said I never got used to it.ultrawide screens are too short and letter boxed and you get much less screen real state. also the black coating Samsung used in QD-OLEDs suck,no deep blacks unless in pitch black room.the LG 42 16:9 is definitely the superior display.
there both good I guess if more competitive gamer then the qd oled, the colors are realy nice on the qd the reds really pop, I contacted dell and go the AWF vairiant now! just as good!!
@@solzzy Alienware is 1440p and doesn’t look sharp, yes colors are good but so are colors of LG.I play AAA single player only and don’t really enjoy Alienware’s short wide form factor.I also bought a 4090 so 1440p is bottle necking it.and like I said because of the coating they used blacks aren’t nearly as deep as on LG. for me 16:9 over Ultrawide any day.I actually hate ultrawide!
bought 2 pcs 2TB from Lazada and just by copying a 400GB of data i notice it slowing down until it dies (disconnected). when formating it will take years maybe to finish it.
I just bought samsung evo 860 last JAN 17, 2023 now it died, cant even detect at my pc tried my old hdd and it work perfectly in my current pc guess this SSD died
For anyone else dealing with this problem in 2023 / 24, first try to change your cables, starting with your SATA Cable. I had this issue and turns out I was using a sata cable from an old build that was NOT a SATA3 6Gb/s cable. When I did my new build that is the ONLY cable that I brought over from the old PC as my new Motherboard and Power Supply came with SATA cables that were designed specifically for SATA3 6Gb/s. Also update your drive firmware via Sata Magician and reboot. If these two changes don't fix your problem, buy a better rated drive and get Geek Squad or a local company that is certified to do data recovery to go ahead and duplicate the data while the SSD is somewhat operable. Good Luck!
I've been running several Samsung 860 and 870 EVO in different systems for years and all have been rock solid. It's possible that there was a bad batch, but overall these drives are the best you can get for the price. Look up the reviews for other brands of SSD, there are horror stories with all of them, with much higher failure rates than the Samsung products.
Same here, but Samsung is known for changing the components of the product after a year from release (good reviews), they start using cheap slow components without any announcement. This is a scam, they should give a new batch that has a newer component a another name, something like 870 EVO V2 so people know this isn't the same product that they are seeing on the internet reviews.
sorry but about your data your fault entirely and deserved it... whether the disk has issue or not it WILL fail it is bound to whether in 2 years or 20 but it will so backup backup backup
When dropping a thousand dollars on a display, I'm having a hard time justifying going with an ultrwide like the Alienware when you can get the C2/C3 for similar pricing. Especially since it seems to handle custom resolutions without making everything look like shit.
Should I buy an 860 or an 870? I'm looking for the one that will last longer. Or do I still run the same risks with the 860 since they are from a new batch and are not comparable to the ones that were made 3 years ago.
nope. 860 is affected too. best is not to buy any samsung ssd for now until samsung fix the issue. the latest 990 is also suffering from this issue too. my guess is this is an hardware issue, little to no caused by the firmware. possibly defect NAND batches.
I bought twelve Samsung 860 EVO 500 GB and 1 TB in 2020. All of them work perfect three years later, not one single issue with them. The best SSD's you can get.
Thanks for letting me that valuable thing "Don't put any important on these". I ordered 2 of these 870 evo 1TB ones on amazon for both of my laptop and my workstation 😞 Not sure which manufacturing lot ones will I get. Hey, couple of questions if you can clarify, appreciate that. 1) Any idea of 2023 batch lot failing too? 2) are other brand SSD more reliable than Samsung EVO? Which ones? Barracuda metal ones were much much more reliable than these. Finally, God bless me & my data.

need to upgrade firmware when you buy these drives. Most people simply install and never do anything, failure occurs. Also, most people running these drives on windows 11, not a good idea, best to run linux distro for longevity of m.2 and 2.5 drives .
