Thanks for your videos, man! I bought the 42 lg c2. I got tired of waiting for the Alienware to come in stock! 21:9 aspect ratio is amazing on this TV. You get the best of both worlds.
@solzzy
@solzzy 2 года назад
yup your not missing anything gaining more real estate, its a great TV for gaming and content, 21:9 is 3440x1440 and 3840x1600 or if you want an even wider ratio 32:9 try 3840x1080 :)

When dropping a thousand dollars on a display, I'm having a hard time justifying going with an ultrwide like the Alienware when you can get the C2/C3 for similar pricing. Especially since it seems to handle custom resolutions without making everything look like shit.

I mean I'm no expert, but an actual 4K TV is always going to look more clear even when lowering the aspect ratio down to the 3440X1440. But, truthfully, I don't think clarity is the issue for most people. The majority of people know that the 4K TV is going to be sharper no matter what. It's about the QD OLED versus regular OLED. I mean if we're talking about console gaming, it's not even a question, it's the C2 seeing that the Alienware only has HDMI 2.O which means it does not support 21:9 for consoles so all console games will have black bars Plus nothing will go over 100 Hertz... So people thinking about using this for consoles this shouldn't even be a consideration. Can't really get it accurate representation through the camera obviously, but from what I'm seeing the Alienware's colors are more vibrant. I wish we could have seen a few different scenes in different games.

I have tried to match the colours on the c2 and increasing the colour depth and changing the gamut will get it quite similar, Video coming soon!! :)

Ur indeed no expert. Nor am i but a 4k tv will not look sharper at 3440x1440 custom resolution than a 34inch 3440x1440 monitor. Even when running at its native 4k resolution it simply will not look as sharp as this monitor. Just because its 4k doesnt make it sharper. In fact the monitor in this video is quite a bit sharper than this 4k tv. For gaming this tv lags behind this monitor (except for consoles ofc).

@@branchprediction9923 I am no expert for sure, and never said I was, but gaming for a long time from CRT days, and as a avid gamer for immersion, and competitive gaming LG for my eyes is my choice, for gaming pc/console as long as you have the system to run it, (or you could even drop down the rez if your system cant cope as the TV has an amazing scaler)and for media consumption the LG all day, And this TV does not lag behind against the qd-oled not one bit, not sure how you came to that conclusion, and in what sense you mean, I tested both for for quite sometime now, and LG feels better! might be a different story with the QD-OLED TV but that's 55in. not saying the qd-oled is bad, for my use case and a lot of others, but no matter what you get there both great, just don't get both or one will get more love. btw there is no sharpening adjustment in the OSD for the qd-oled, because of the gsync module, and it is set at there own default level, which is a shame, I will add a few more game comparisons i.e. warzone, destiny 2 etc..! on Monday, the compression of RU-vid and watching through your screen, really does not represent very well the colour brightness sharpness of what I see, so I can tell you guys as much as I can but I'll do my best!!! :)

I appreciate the effort, I really do, however I watched both videos and these comparisons are a bit all over the place. I know you're just reporting what you're experiencing first hand, but some of it goes very much against the technical specifications of both panels and what respected reviewers have so far reported, so I think it's worth pointing out. Brightness, for one thing, in both SDR and HDR should be considerably higher on the Alienware. Does Squad even support HDR? Is there an HDR setting / calibration menu in the game's settings? Otherwise you're just watching SDR content in an HDR container, which is generally not ideal and can lead to skewed colors. Maybe try a game that has a proper HDR mode, like Cyberpunk 2077. You should see a noticeable difference in brightness between the two panels. 700-800 nits on the C2 vs. 1000 nits on the Dell. Input lag is another point of contention. You're saying that the C2 feels snappier and I have no reason not to believe you. Higher than expected input lag is one of the reported shortcomings of the Alienware after all, however at 9ms vs. the 6-13ms (depending on the resolution and refresh rate) of the C2 ... we're talking about a 3-5ms difference at worst, which would be extremely hard to notice. You might argue that it matters for competitive online fps gaming, but everyone that's serious about it (like me) wouldn't really be interested in an OLED TV or even the Alienware. They'd be looking at 240hz+ 1080p or 1440p monitors with even lower input lag, so the whole thing is a bit of a moot point and not something I'd consider a purchase making factor. Resolution is one aspect where the C2 can't be beat, having a 4K panel. So if a higher pixel density is important to you, then you can't go wrong with the LG. Just know that it will be harder to drive because of it, so you better have a beefy GPU. Same goes for fexibility. The C2 can do it all, the Alienware is a PC monitor first and foremost. So if media consumption and console gaming isn't something you prefer to enjoy on your (OLED) TV in the living room, or if black columns when watching 16:9 content on an ultrawide monitor bother you, then C2 is probably the way to go. However, if you're mostly looking for a PC monitor, for PC gaming and general desktop use (programming, CAD work, web browsing ...), the Alienware might be the better choice. No ABL to speak of, which is something that unfortunately can't be said about LG TVs, and a panel that's supposedly considerably more resistant to burn-in, hence the 3-year burn-in warranty from Dell / Alienware. Anyway, I think most people would be happy with either, just some things to consider. Comparisons of this sort are very hard to do, just look at what's happening with the Samsung S95B vs LG OLEDs, where even professional calibrators are having a hard time coming to a consensus. For everyone interested in the C2 vs. Alienware debate, watch out for HDTVTest's upcoming head to head. Thanks for the videos!

You can see how much the C2 loses color to try to get the extra brightness out of those white sub pixels.
@sto_yt

It’s because of the angle and camera. Doesn’t look like that irl. It doesn't "lose color"… the Alienware is just very red toned. The C2 has more accurate colors. And as I said, you can’t judge it from a yt video, the colors look way better irl.

Just the PPI alone is a win for me. I just got my 42" C2 after debating if I should in fact go with QD or OLED... C2 is actually available and it's a UHD display so I can jump from 1600/1620p, 1800p or 2160. 1440p for me in 2022 is just a no go. I thought 42" would be big but actually it's pretty damn perfect and 21:9/24:10 is perfect and black bars are a none issue because they are static black. So far I'm loving the 42" C2, it has it's small issues as it's not really a monitor but over all this is bliss and HDR, colors, crispness on this are mind blowing. I know there is FOMO when it comes to new panels like QD OLED and the S95B but I'll be keeping the CX/C2 for a while yet.
