Thank you. You never really know do you how it will all turn out. I just hope it all comes together Are ypu sewing anything or doing any crafts at present?
@@victoriamakes Yes actually I am working on several different quilts. And I recently bought a dress much like the one you just made for a pattern to make myself a dress using a different fabric
Loved your video, I’m tempted now to get out my sewing machine to have a go, I’ve not used it for about 40 years. All my old sewing patterns are from the 70s, will need some resizing lol. I used to make all my clothes and I loved it, I’ll need to have a look. I love your chatty style and showing each step of your progress, brought it all back to me. Looking forward to seeing your other projects. Thank you 😀
How fabulous I bet you have some amazing patterns have fun looking through them and deciding which to sew. That's really exciting let me know what you make 😀
@@carolynsuedickens wow Thank you very much I thought they must be rubbish and maybe give it up but I’ve been so fortunate for people to find me lately which has given me some confidence to do some more Thank you I’m so happy people are saying they are liking what I do having fun and learning along the way let me know what you make and any tips you have have a great day
New subscriber here. I really enjoyed your video and I am inspired to hunt out some pretty duvet covers to try new patterns with. I am also tall, so lengthening patterns has become a way of life. I usually use the lengthening line on the pattern otherwise it can throw the proportions out.
True that's what I've done with other patterns before it is the best way thanks I must remember Im getting a bit dippy lately 😀 Any pattern recommendations you've made please?
Love the dress. I have been thrifting fabric from opportunity shops (charity shops inAustralia) for many years. I also deconstruct clothing to remake into something else. You are very easy to listen to ❤️🇦🇺🦘
Wonderful! I'd love to go round your Op shops. What have you made lately, and have you tried any other types of fabric items? I'm thinking of doing something with quilts if I can find one
Hi I always sew the top in one got setting in the sleeves and then sewing the side seem of the bodice and the sleeves in one go. Much easier than trying to sew the sleeves into the armhole good luck
I was so surprised to see that your sewing machine is set up opposite to any other machine I’ve seen. A special order? Good idea to use up pretty tablecloths and serviettes. Very pretty.
That’s lovely! The calm way you speak, and the patience that you take with your sewing reminds me how much I loved it. I think I’ll get back into my wonderful sewing habit it again! Thank you for such an inspiring few moments in my day.😊😊😊
Yes I did some sewing as a teenager and now I have found it again many many years later hehe, I’m loving it and can recommend it for anyones wellbeing I’m learning as I go along so love it when people give me advice and lovely feedback which helps me Enjoy your sewing journey and Thank you for your lovely comment 😘
If I were you, and for comfort’s sake, I would increase the width of the sleeve because it appears to be a bit tight. If you do this, you would also need to increase the side seam of the bodice the same amount. You might also take up the lower part of the bodice seam if the bodice seems too baggy. I love the print on the duvet cover and the check goes well with it.
I also have been using duvet covers and sheets for some time and have noticed there are very few nice designs in charity shops compared to a year ago. One of my granddaughters ,who is ,12, a big girl for her age , proudly said to an admirer of her new dress last year " that's my duvet dress my grandma made ".
Your video popped up in my feed this evening, and I really enjoyed it. I have made the Dottie angel dress out of a duvet and used another for a waves and wild dress. Love your chatty style. Thanks xx
Tencel fiber is somewhat comparable to rayon. Both are classified as “regenerated cellulose” fibers that are created by dissolving wood fibers with a chemical solvent. Even though Tencel has a natural origin, it is still manmade. The fiber is classified as neither “natural” nor “synthetic.”
So pleased I came across your post as I really enjoyed watching you make this beautiful dress, it looks fabulous 😊 I also love the colour of your kitchen walls, do you mind sharing what colour it is. I’m feeling inspired to get my sewing machine back out again 😁 thank you for taking the time to share your experience
Hi Thank you, Im so glad you liked it. the pattern is a great one, isn't it? I'm starting another dress with this pattern for autumn shortly will do a quicker video for it Thank you for the compliment I painted the walls with Farrow and Ball Lulworth Blue although it needs refreshing now as its been about 4 years Thanks 😊
Ah thanks that's very kind of you to leave a comment. You never really know how things will turn out, but yes, I'm really happy with these so far ☺️ Hope you watch my other videos, there all a bit different in styles. I now need the confidence to wear them!
Thank you. I'm glad you've said this as I've had a few music suggestions/ comments and so I will take off the music, which would be easier for me too, so this is great news
New subscriber here,I really enjoyed your video Victoria.I have been considering making a similar style dress so you popped up on my feed.I was looking at Toast dresses which have the same loose style but the prices were eye watering so I am going to try and construct one using the patterns in The act of sewing by Sonya Philip.I’m now going on a duvet / tablecloth hunt 😊
Sounds fun hope you get lucky and spot a good design. there are some lovely patterned duvet covers out there so much cheaper than a toast dress Happy sewing
Thank you I'm going to make more now. It's about trying the pattern out and if you like it then you can make more I'm loving my sewing journey learning along the way and with so many lovely people willing to advise me with their tips and suggestions, the process is much more enjoyable. Happy sewing
Hi Victoria, well done the dress looks lovely. I bought a quilt only yesterday to make myself a wrapover skirt and matching top. So I was delighted when I came across your tutorial. I'm just starting sewing lol and I'm 60 lol never to old to start learning something new. Lol anyway thank you for your video it inspired me to definitely give it a go. XxKathleen
I’m upcycling a man’s shirt into a woman’s shirt. I got one for pennies at a thrift shop that’s the last stop before the landfill sold at pennies per lb. It will be my toile. Once done, if it works out and fits well, I have a much nicer men’s shirt of high quality cotton to make one I will want to wear. The nicer shirt costs me $2.50 so it will be a huge savings over a women’s storebought shirt.
Yes I’ve seen lots Of shirts too Lately and wondered if I should make a project Out of mens shirts our charity shop sells them for around £3-£6’each so not Such a bargain as yours hope your project Comes out lovely ! 😀
I'm sorry I had to quickly change it, as two of the tracks after uploading were changed due to some copyright issues unknown before to me and youtube uploaded it at a standard volume which must be higher than I usually use hopefully next video will be better for you May i ask was it the volume or style of.the music 🎶 you didn't like?
Personally I prefer videos without music…I watch videos to watch you..and your makes, not to listen to music,l can do that any time! One lady who is doing very well is ..Marion’s world..she is excellent,in what she makes and no music at all! I think people appreciate that so much, reading the comments they do..l do wish you well in all you do, and look forward to more of your videos, with very low music,or none at all! Xxx
I am making a toile with some fabric suitable for a petticoat , I am not a dressmaker at all trial and error with me (more error lol ). Love watching this video
Thank you so much hoping you will watch next week as I will be uploading next week another dress make -this dress I’ve jus t finished today is a mixture of fabrics I love it hope you all do too
