I admire by all of your video. And love planting tropical fruit trees in my backyard but I learned that is not easy here in Phoenix Arizona. So am also dreaming to buy a property at Florida. Any suggestions for plants lover like me, where and how to start?
Hello. They sell small wire mesh little trash cans at the dollar store. The dollar tree. I make a top out of mesh or a plastic plate. Cut a slot on the plate or the wire mesh that you cut for a top. Put the can on the mango from the bottom and then slide the cover on with the stem going through the slot and then plastic zip ties. I did this on my lancentilias and haven't lost one since. The cage isn't heavy. Was so happy when it worked. Good luck and like your channel.
@pumas696969 Fertilize every two months if possible. I water daily in summer and every 2 to 3 days in winter, depending on winter temps. I use VIGORO Avacado and Citrus granular fertilizer from Home Depot. As to how much I water, that is a difficult to answer as it depends on planting method, soil, temps etc.
Does it easy to taking care in Phoenix, AZ? Does it need shape in summer and winter time? I just bought one, still in 15gl pot, want to put it in ground. Thank you.
My tree is a monster now.. the fruit is ultra delicious.. and I like that it stays green instead of breaks color. I just mailed 10 lb to my son in Vermont..
@@richardsquires1726 wow. That's great. I decided to add mahachanuk into my garden because of the shape of fruit and colour as seen on RU-vid. I have a few other verities too. All are still small trees around 2 feet tall.
Hi, im just curious I got the same mango tree 4 yrs old grafted but they are not producing fruit yet. Can you help me what kind of fertilzer do I need to use? Thanks
Hello. One of my lancetilla mangos was attacked by squirrels through the net mesh. Caught it in time and picked it and let it ripen on the counter and it was very good! So much better then last year because it matured some. Kinda like a kent mango but sweeter. Some parts very sweet and unique. Going to put it in the ground and keep it now. Very big mangos! Now with good flavor. After the squirrel attack I went to the dollar store and bought some office wire mesh trash cans alitter bigger then the lancetillias and made a like bird cage around them. They are safe now and now more squirrels. This mango was getting a bad rap and Im happy I kept it now. I think next year will be even better! Dont give up on yours to soon. Ripening enough is the trick with alot of mangos.
@icya5844 The tree is doing good. It has some water shortage so new leaves are small in size. I will fix the water on my next visit. I just posted an update of Florida mango orchid. You can see the tree in there. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video - very impressive wall of mangos 🥭💪🏽 I was wondering about planting a Glenn mango (3gal) near my wall that faces east and shields from west. Do you have the mangoes facing east?
@CleanestGreen I posted a full June garden update. There is a short clip in there for pineapple Pleasure. The tree is doing fine. It is growing very slowly. This year, initially, it had 4 mangoes, but it dropped 3. Now it has one big mango only. I will try to post a video on the tree.
@@TheNaveed787 *I remember Alex talking about a dwarf tree mango with fruits similar to that, as well as (Himsagar & Mulgoba). Wish I knew more & had a better memory, lol. but to me it looks like Himsagar on dwarf rootstock. Okay get back to us. Was it grafted? is it possibly a seedling that didn't get grafted?*
@Pay-It_Forward It was bought from the nursery as a grafted tree. That is what the seller told me. I will look at the trunk and see if I can see the graft. I should be able to taste it in the next 2 to 3 days.
Very impressive collection - your mangos are much larger than mine at this point in the year. Are you located in Phoenix where it's a bit hotter than the suburbs? I assume you don't provide warmth for this many mangos in winter!
@TouchGrassGardening Thank you. Yes, I am located in northwest Phoenix. Correct, I do not cover, nor do I provide any warmth for the mango trees. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@ricksmith1574 Sugar loaf is doing great. It is still in 15g pot. It fruited last year this year it skipped flowering. For it to grow more it needs to either go in ground or 25+ gallon pot. The taste is A+. Very unique taste and flavour. I am sure you will like it. I will make a video shortly. Good luck with your tree. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@jeff6899 Can you please further explain your question? Are you asking how the fruit last longer on the tree? or off the tree? Or if I preserve the fruit to last multiple months?
I'm in AZ. north Peoria. Is it OK to prune now? I have a coconut cream mango that has been in ground about 10 years. I haven't trimmed it. It grows very weepy to the ground. I even strap branches to a structure I have built around it. Branches still curve to the ground. It's loaded with mangoes so I'm not sure if I should trim it now or wait until I harvest.
@ja4luke In Arizona, we have a very short growing season, especially after harvest. I always prune as soon as possible around April 15th. So starting Alpril 15th as soon as any branch drop flowers or drips fruit, I go ahead and prune it. For trees that are not holding fruit or I want them to skip, I prune immediately after April 15th. But this is just my process. This process gives the prune branches maximum time to grow and get mature enough to flower and hold fruit next summer.
what is your fertilizing “routine” for mahachanok, with what do you fertilize and when for a whole year?, and what about watering, I live in a very arid and hot climate, 42 Celsius to 49.
@@TheNaveed787 Some advice put the Valencia Pride in a bigger pot because its a grows vigorously. My valencia pride is taller than my house and electricity pole.
