Not the best route but mom really wants the best for her kids. She doesn't want them to have to live where they live and work as she works and to her, an American husband for her daughter would ensure a different lifestyle, quality of life, for her daughters and generations to come. That's the hope at least. I know she isn't trying to be a weirdo, culture shock indeed but remember not everyone lives as you do.
I've lived here two years and visited on a couple of occasions prior. You accept it as is. No western preconceived ideas, take it as it is and it's great! No problems. Never had any grief of any sort. Living is cheap, crime is negligible. Burocracy is a little annoying but just sit back and all comes good. Never had food poisoning, surprising really considering the storage and hygiene,but all is fresh not stored. I can not see me returning to the UK considering the ease of living here. Take this for what it's worth, you form your own opinion.
