It just started doing it out of nowhere about two years in. To this day we have no choice but to just deal with it or Fork over the money for a whole new outdoor unit because no matter who comes out to look at it, LG refuses to follow up with the repair
Have you ever had any resolution? We have a 3 head unit that is almost 3 years old started doing the same thing. It started as an occasional “bark” when the solenoid shut off.
So, what ever came about the issue with the condenser? Was it a leak or a bad relay? Just wondering for future issues I may have on mine. Have a 4 zone w/ a 36k condenser.
It still has yet to be solved we just kind of dealt with the annoyance Last summer while I repeatedly tried to find an LG person to actually follow up with the repair. I am long out of my warranty now so this repair will be out of pocket. Everytime I bring a new contractor around here, they tell me that LG is unresponsive with the local rep and no one from LG will speak with me because I am just a homeowner
I have your solution. I was the contractor in Detroit that was dealing with the same problem. It looks like LG came up with a solution. Please comment back and I can explain
@@Green95Hoe Your video actually triggered my supplier to really push LG to do something. They actually knew the problem. They call it the choked goose syndrome. They shipped our local supplier a new EPROM chip and that EPROM chip plugs into the board that the hot gas solenoid plugs into. That seem to solve the problem. It’s been two days and the noise never came back and it definitely would have made the noise by now. The customer even says the compressor runs quieter. Good luck
@@hvacmike1 this is amazing information. You have no idea how happy I am that you have shared this. It also explains why LG was trying their hardest to avoid fixing my problem last year. I'm still under warranty so I will report back the day I get this sorted out.
@@hvacmike1 so I'm on yet another year of chasing this problem. I tried bringing another contractor in but now LG is giving them a runaround and they don't seem too eager to help me either. Nobody at LG will talk to me because I'm just the homeowner. Any chance you know the part number of that eprom chip or know how I can buy it? It's maddening how hard it has been to get this thing serviced.
I am a hvac contractor in Michigan. I have the same problem going on at a customers home. We installed a lg with 3 heads and a branch box. We changed the condenser and the branch box. The hot gas solenoid still shatters just like your video. Everyone is stumped. I’m getting no help from lg. did you ever get this resolved.
I did not. I kind of gave up trying to solve the problem after the season ended because LG stopped responding to my contractor. The system has no problem pumping Heat, but in the next couple weeks I will need air conditioning again and my plan is to reach out to an LG Diamond certified contractor. I am still under the warranty period so perhaps I can just get a whole new outdoor unit
You are so right. There is always that cringe moment when it just grabbed 20 feet of windrow and you knew it was going to happen. It was always just when the knotters tripped too. Worst dam time. We still do this every season too but the weather seems to mess with the crops year after year. So much fun.
Sometimes I wonder if The Original Wiggles should do a musical and comedy adventure Christmas movie A little similar to this Ernest Christmas movie but like maybe next year 2022 Maybe but you never know 😉
Hi ! What is your outdoor unit model ? I have a MU5M40.UO2 and I have the same issue + very noisy compressor. You can have a look here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cFbhgbV_oNE.html or my other videos on my unit behaviour. I found that those clicks are related to the hotgas valve relay. This seems to be a protection against too low pressure in the system. Nevertheless, your unit is less noisy that mine (lucky guy :))! Did you face other issues or have new solution than adding refrigerant regarding this hotgas activation ?
It a LMU540HV. So not long after I uploaded this I put in a service call and they said I was down 7lb of refrigerant. It was recharged and the system worked nice and quiet for the rest of the short season. This spring I fired it back up and things worked well for half the summer. Gradually the system started becoming less efficient and was not blowing as cold air as usual. Today I can tell you that the relays will hammer again unless I have all heads on at the same time and set for the lowest temp. Clearly a leak in the system again but have been hesitating to get service back because I know this time around I am going to have to pay a lot more. I watched your video and its the same exact sound. Sooo much louder in the house though.
@@Green95Hoe Thanks for the answer ! I think I am good for a refrigerant check-up as well. If you have some time to upload some other vids in heating or with more load, I am interested :) Still to compare the noise of our 2 models (very similar, same compressor, same 2 fans, same hotgaz, etc...).
Dude, great Tahoe!! Sorry, can you help? After repair of engine - on the small rpm under load - shouting off(( Compression is good, light is good, fuel is good(( whats the problem? Sorry for my bad English...((
Service tech added refrigerant, and we were good for a while but it seems to be doing it occasionally again so I fear there might be a slow leak somewhere
Brings back fond memory's. As a kid I would bale with1954 jd 430 and t24 baler with the Wisconsin motor. always had spare sheer bolts in the tool box. my dad worked and at age 8 I would go mow/rake/bale during my summers off from school. best times of my life.
I appreciate the comment. Yeah this was made long ago but we still make hay every season with this equipment. You are right about the shear bolts. Of course if we were baling good hay instead of grass, it would probably go a lot smoother.
Nice work and looks good. I just put an lq4 with the 4 L 80 transmission into my 99 Yukon Denali still in the process of getting everything together and running. I have a 6 inch lift with a 3 inch body lift on 37 inch tires. Will be switching the front and rear diff to 4:10 gears soon just working on all the wiring and pinouts right now. Will be upgrading the cam and cylinder heads and dropping an electric fan to
Nice! I kept my Shamrock on one of Parker Boat Yard's moorings Summers of 2015 & 2016 - loved that area, especially in Autumn when the bugs (and most of the people) went away and the weather was cool and dry. You guys look like you're having fun and keeping a good attitude - I know firsthand that sometimes working on boats (and particularly engines) can be frustrating and take the fun out of it. Be well, Brother.
