Completely agree. I've had Catahoulas for decades, another strong willed dog. I'm getting my first Rottweiler in May. She'll be getting a good dose of puppy socialization classes, but that's just one tool of many that will start off a lifelong program of training and socialization.
You should take any dog breed to puppy training classes. Even if you already know all the commands and the training it's great for your puppy to socialize with other dogs also it helps them obey commands in a more chaotic environment with distractions than say a calm environment like your backyard.
Oh yes!!!!! I was taught years ago by an experienced Rott owner and trainer to look for a puppy class with a very experienced trainer. A young, inexperienced trainer does not have the ability to truly understand canine body language. And does not necessarily know the typical behaviors of certain breeds (Boxers box, Rotties are really vocal, Pitties play rough, etc). And experienced trainers are much more likely to focus on how to teach proper training for behaviors and leas time on out of control playtime.
