I’m a late-blooming masters runner who hopes to inspire you to move!
If you’re not a natural-born runner, join the club. Before the Chicago running scene and a back-of-the-pack runner inspired me to lace up, I didn’t run at all. That changed one magical day in the Windy City, and years later, running is what keeps me going. On this channel, I share my personal marathon stories and what I’ve learned to become a better runner and happier person in the process. If running is of any interest to you, I hope you’ll join me on the channel as a subscriber. I have many stories, adventures, and tips to share! Start with my channel’s debut video, The 2023 Chicago Marathon Reckoning, to get the backstory. Watch my videos in order or check out the playlists for a more fulfilling experience.
I will do my best, but at this point, it would be nowhere near a 3:50 marathon, even with all my training. I would have a better chance at qualifying for Boston!
I did not realize that the time standards had changed for Chicago, good to know. And as we agreed, it is you vs you, show up, do your best and try to beat your previous time.
Thank you so much for believing in my ability. I have to tell you, I’m quite certain that I am not near a 3:50 performance, but this knowledge will not prevent me from training to be prepared to do my best on marathon day.
I'm still so proud of you, outstanding friends you have.Great job, please continue practicing makes perfect outcomes. I love your energy and great motivation .
Great job on those 5ks! The 5k distance is hard! And you’re right, there are many variables that can effect a marathon race. You’re on the right track, keep training and trust the process.
Amazing video! Thanks for sharing! I’m reminded of this quote: : “Shoot for the moon and even if you don’t reach it, you’ll still be among the stars”. 🙂 We both have some lofty goals and I think we will give it our best. The marathon journey is a special one and we each have different reasons for pursuing it. In the end, it will all have been worth it.
@compassionatepeercounseling, thank you so much for watching and commenting! I wanted to keep Bea’s story alive, and I am so glad that she was open to sharing her story, wisdom, and health tips with others. We are all so fortunate for that.
@RookieRunnersPod, I am so happy to hear that you watched and enjoyed the interview! Bea is indeed an inspiration. She makes me feel that I need to start practicing my push-ups this weekend! I had an intense running and stretching session today, so perhaps push-ups are in the cards for tomorrow! Thanks to Bea for putting the thought in mind!
This lady is wonderful. She is so smart and shows that while aging does affect you it doesn’t mean you give up. You must still live with purpose and continue doing what is best for yourself. She should be the poster for longevity and success in life.
Glad to have the opportunity to run the bridge with you. You did an amazing job for your first time at this elevation. 12 miles + Strides afterwards is super impressive. Keep up the great work!
Love, love, love seeing you in the comments! Thanks for your critique. It means a lot as you are a running inspiration to me and one of the reasons why I kicked off this renewed racing journey later in life!
You did a great job on your first 5k, despite the heat and it WAS hot. Glad I was there and we got to meet up. My race did not as planned either, but was a good effort based to weather conditions. Keep up the great work, the best is yet to come!
Thanks so much for the encouragement! It was a great event, and I feel stoked for more training this summer! Congrats on your performance as well in the sweltering heat!
@HammondPrice, you NOTICED the polka-dot dress! Totally ’40s, yes! Thanks for watching! Seeing you in the comments is fantastic. I’ll keep posting for sure!
What excellent experience, too own something so precious, from a great actress you care so strongly about, memories and pictures will last for decades, such a blessing to spend time with your mother.
Great workout! The 400M is one of my fav speed and endurance work-outs. This was also my racing distance as a mid-distance runner/sprinter in High School. One thing to keep in mind is that the recovery period between 400s is just as important (usually 2 minutes depending of fitness). Keep up the great work!
