Not sure if anyone else has commented this, but for future if you're in there again, those trans cooler line clips can be installed in the female side prior to installing the male connection, then the male just clips in past the clip and you're done.
i saved for 3 years to have a car, started when i was 12 years old, when i heard that engines fire up for the first time, my face hurt the next day from smiling so hard and long.
Any place that programs or tunes ECU’s should know that the first thing you do is put the car on a stable power supply before doing anything. That was an unnecessary headache. I program tons of new modules, used modules, and do updates on modules to fix issues for things in service bulletins. You’ll hardly ever have an issue if you take precautions and follow the proper procedures.
That little scan tool will suite a DIY’er well. It’s Autel software with a different name on the tablet. It will be comparable to an OE scan tool on most GM vehicles.
Soldering doesn’t suck. It’s quick, easy, and reliable. Those solder seal connectors are trash. I’ve cut into some of the ones I’ve found on wires that have been repaired with them and I wouldn’t trust those things on any wire. Either solder them or use some non insulated butt connectors with heat shrink.
Man I will say your right, washing my car can be super therapeutic and makes me so giddy inside like a kid, seeing it super clean. Definitely makes me fall in love again. Then driving it after working on it with no destination in mind, is what I live life for 😝
@@JoshVanVeld Yep…GTR brakes improved so much with the 660. You just have to change it every 6-months or after every track day. Tested it on my Land Cruiser and I could not believe how much better the brakes felt.
@@rocketmail125 Oh haha I thought there was a 760 I hadn’t heard about! The Amsoil racing fluid might not be quite as good as the Motul (I haven’t compared the specs in a while) but it’s definitely capable compared to street fluid.
@@JoshVanVeld I use the Amsoil signature oil and used Amsoil for my trans and diff service. That signature oil has really excellent reviews. No I made an index finger typing error. LOL
Little late to the party. But the poor drivability can be dialed with a better tuner and lots of street tuning. You’re not going to get perfect. If I remember correctly you went with a twin disc and I’d imagine you don’t want to step to a taller rear gear or have your first gear ratio swapped to a gto 2.97. Doing the ladder would perfect low end drivability. At the cost of basically a second k tec ls7.
The tuner watches the channel now (said the first start video randomly popped up in his feed) so hopefully Goldie gets the love she deserves when ready for the final tune.
Congrats, another great (and well edited) video. I can't wait for the exhaust leak reveal. The knocking you're hearing may likely be the floating AP Racing rotors. Mine do same.
Love your series here on Goldie! I could have sworn I saw your wife's Durango on Scrap Life Garage! It was at Copart. All together, and he mentioned that it was a theft recovery. Sorry to hear about that. New subscriber--we're actually pretty close numbers-wise with subs! Good luck with your channel! You're going to do well!
Thanks brother! Always cool to run into a fellow RU-vidr, I wish you the best success! I haven’t been following Scrap Life Garage closely but that would be cool if our car showed up on that channel. He blew up fast and for good reason!
@@JoshVanVeld Thanks! Yeah, great projects on that channel! I’ll be following you. You’re a great storyteller with great content-everything you need! Take care! Happy 4th!
Man, I just found your channel watching this video, almost spit out my drink at the "RTV" bit....I just had a project and my tube of RTV exploded out the back end all over me HAHAH.... All men go through this!
Dude...what pushrod length is in there? Did you even measure? You're cammed...the OEM pushrod won't likely work, although your lift is .590 IIRC which is stock lift numbers. You should at least check wipe pattern on the valve tips. Stock PRs suck man, as do the rockers (and lifters/trays) and are in dire need of an upgrade. Couple of hundreds bucks for piece of mind is worth it IMO.
The pushrods are aftermarket, provided by Katech with part of the “diy kit” they put together for me since this was my first time assembling a motor. They also measured them for me. 👍
Great videos! No doubt I too have had all the same frustrations, let downs, and mistakes being a hobby/DIY/self-taught mechanic. Having that final end result where it just comes together and things finally work is the best though. Your videos are inspiring so keep 'em coming bud! I also really miss my old Code Blue and remember some of those same tribulations like replacing the battery...mine also didn't have a handle and it took me a solid 30 minutes and bloody knuckles to get it out.
Maybe that's why those other guys did it but I blew mine up out of sheer stupidity and laziness. Also, it may be the shrooms that are tripping you out and not the RU-vidrs.
This is my first time seeing your channel and watching your videos, I'm very glad youtube recommended this video to me! You definitely deserve more subscribers and viewership as the quality is really good. I can tell some good time definitely has to be taken to do a lot of camera work, different shots/angles during the assembly process and also the voice narration is very good. I personally really enjoy how its a little bit of a mix between ASMR as sometimes you let the narration lift off or pause for a second to let the viewer hear the raw audio at times. I will definitely be watching more in the future!
Thank you! The hope is that most people aren’t conscious of any of the production elements but when somebody does notice and enjoys that aspect of it I take it as a big compliment!
@@JoshVanVeld Well it wasnt my first thought watching the video, I didnt really have much thoughts I was just very focused on the video and enjoyed it a lot. Then thought about why I enjoyed the video haha.
@@fyfoxx Haha that makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to write me a comment, it’s like getting a post card would have felt in the old days. Totally makes my day!
the coolant spill could have been avoided if you turned the bottle with its mouth upwards. that way you prevent the air from being trapped inside the bottle.
get a head band flash light, will ease all jobs for you in car services. I can't live without mine now. Actually have two for when one gets discharged I can use the other while it charges.
Gabe the trained tech uses one all the time. Have you found one that doesn't generate a lot of heat? Gabe is very heat-sensitive being from the Midwest.
@@JoshVanVeld actually, no. I accepted the heat as a friend 😁. And I'm in Brazil, a lot of heat around here. Unfortunately there's no moment I use it and don't sweat the forehead.
@@JoshVanVeld yes 😆. Congrats again on the journey. Having a z06 and being able to take care of it home is surely a dream come true. I'll be there some day. Now I do it with an e92 m3.
It wasn’t in my book so I’m not worried about. It appears there is some debate about whether it actually does anything. I think the strong argument against it is that none of the service manuals even mention it, but if I had it to do over again I’d at least consider it 😅
break in is NOT 500 miles. factories only say that so they"re not responsible for damage. true engine break in is 3-5 wide open throttle pulls and an oil change immediately after. always use a zinc additive when breaking in parts
Love the videos. They are so relatable. I've just finished a crivette rebuild and had similar but different struggles along the way. All worth it in the end. Will subscribe
The Cliff Hanger!!!!!! I can't take it! I have to know! I've been pulling for you to get this done and have enjoyed it sooo much. If something really bad come from an exhaust leak, I will be heartbroken for you. You have to get this done and back to the track and defeat it. There can't be an unhappy ending to this!
Been re-watching your videos and something caught my eye this time through. I have scars on my hands/arms from people who trim zip ties like you did on your shoulder belts. Get some flush cuts, your hands and forearms will thank you!
@@JoshVanVeld You see them more in aerospace but they are absolutely worth it. Re-watch stands up for sure, I jump around a little to see what kind of products you use (was digging into the harness bar) but all your videos are great stories instead of a how-tos. You are like the Mr. Rogers of C6 corvettes/wrenching.
