Thank you, very informative. The only thing I noticed is that the edges of the panels do not align at all, you can clearly see that these are two pieces of wood.
I have a dead space in the corner of my kitchen with no acess back there how can i fasten my butcher block in that corner if i cant get to it from the bottom its a 24x24 space will my butcher block be fine not fastened down in that corner? All info and help is appreciated
Old trick to use a long piece of straight wood, in pinch a two by four, measure back from the guard to the blade and use that measurement to clamp that edge of the 2x4 from the end where you want to cut. Once clamp down and double check everything start cutting with the handsaw guard up against it and push across keeping sure keep against the makeshift track. Pretty straight cut every time
I followed this video but did not realize there were different kreg pocket hole screws for hard woods. Do I need to be worried that I used the “wrong” screws. I’ve already used dominoes and glued them together
Yeah. I think the biscuit machine is cheaper. You might be able to use a plunger oscillating tool if you have that. That's what I'm gonna try I think. Maybe there's an attachment. The screw jig I've seen pricey but I think you can search on here a DIY pocket jig. The screws you might be able to use decking screws. The only other thing is a circular saw and a guide rail track which you can DIY that too.
I doubt the floor poly is FDA-approved for a food surface. Need to check before you chose. Watco® Butcher Block Oil + Stain is specially formulated for use on wooden butcher blocks, cutting boards, salad bowls and other wood applications which require a food safe finish. Easy to apply and maintain, it is nontoxic and safe for food contact when fully dried (meets government standards of 21CFR 175.300
What should I finish the bottom of a butcher block counter with before install? I’ve been using a food-safe product on the top but have noticed some warping. We are getting ready to install the block on its forever home but I want to make sure I seal the bottom properly first.
I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great ru-vid.comUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.

WTF -- NEVER use polyurethane! You're exposing every piece of food that comes into contact with that to toxic chemicals, especially as the surface ages or gets nicks and cuts, and the finish starts to shed. What in the hell is this "expert" thinking???
