Accidents happen! Here's a quick tutorial on how to restore your butcher block from a knife ding or a hot pot burn and erase most marks! BONUS: Watch until the end for stains!
1. Sand out with 100 grit to get through your original finish coat.
2. Use a 200 grit on a sponge pad until you can't feel the mistake with your fingertips.
3. Last use a 320 fine grit for a smooth finish.
4. Then reapply the same finish oil.

Why would you use anything that isn't food safe?

Have you ever used Odies Oil on your counter tops? I’ve just received the birch counters and I’m about to finish them with Odies Oil and Odies Wood Butter. Seems like a much better and good grade finish for kitchen counters.

HI Alicia - Share more info and we'll see if we an help. Which direction is it bowing - toward the base or away from the base? Would you consider your room to be high humidity or dry/low humidity? Was the bottom side and edgges finished with the same stain and poly?

I guess you weren’t paying attention to the narrator. Scratches and dents are part of the use, it’s patina. If you’re going to use a butcher block you need to expect the wear from use. Duh.
