Thank you so much. I replaced the backup camera on my 2014 Sonata GLS today. Your video was very helpful. I even got the Crome off without breaking a clip. 👍👍
Excellent video! Took me 45 minutes to do this from start to finish, though I only re-sealed the camera housing. My backup camera was going in and out. Turned out to be moisture after rain. I sealed the housing with petroleum jelly, though I suppose I could have used silicone. I watched the video, wrote out a summary, and assembled the tools. I'm handy, but NOT a mechanic-kind-of-handy. You'll want: Screwdrivers: Phillips and flat. Socket Wrenches: 8mm and 10mm. A driver/drill will speed this up A LOT (turned my torque way down to put plastic screws onto the backup lights). I used a wire brush to scrape off excess corrosion on the camera body. REMOVING BACKUP CAMERA Pry open pull tab. 2 Phillips screws. Pull to unsnap clips. 10 black, plastic pressure screws. Loosen, then pull. Pull off FABRIC cover. Unplug tail lights and center power Remove backup lights (8 and 10mm) 4 Nuts. Black for each tail light. Silver for chrome strip. Remove backup lights. (clipped in) Pull off chrome strip. Clipped in. Remove Camera Bar 2 Black clips. Squeeze and push through. Remove 2 screws to release camera. Silicone or Petroleum Jelly to seal camera housing.
I’ll add to what everyone else is saying, this was great. I needed to replace the camera to get it ready to sell. Never done one before but after having to drill out some rusted screws, it all went smooth. Thanks!!!
What a complete joke from Hyundai! There has to be a way easier way for them to put that camera in a manner that makes it way easier for us to replace, but of course not, how would they then be able to charge us a crazy amount to do it at the dealership!!! Great video, lots of help!
THANK YOU so much. This saved me a world of crap. I watched your video all the way though the first time, and the rewound it and paused at each step. I removed one of the license plate lights to get some more clearance for the wires. It took me around 90 minutes. My daghter says it looks CRISPY...
It has been some time ago, but it took me a very long time to figure out how to get that rear trim piece off without breaking anything I'd have to buy to replace. Once I got it off was when I decided to make the video. It was probably several hours to accomplish, but doing anything the first time takes longer and with this video to aid & guide it should take less time unless you run into something else unknown or something rusty that just refuses to give. I need to do this again, but where I live is currently having daily triple digit temperatures and I can't justify being out there right now. Maybe in a month or so.
This was very helpful. Mine was more difficult all the screws were rusted and I had to drill them out. End of the day got it done and all works great. Thanks
great video. I have owned 15 or more astro/safari vans since 1987. they are a pain in. the BUTT to work on. we just got a 2002 and it is missing the grab bar. my head hurts thinking of goin through all of this for two nuts.... thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video i just got a sonata 2013 and i ve been having issues w cruise control now watching this video i feel confident enough to fix it myself Thanks again Lol its already 2020
Thank you! Very helpful. I would like to add that the new headlight assemblies (2005 Sonata) that I bought were so far out of alignment that the light pattern was way too low and severely cross eyed. The amount of turns required for the smallest movement was daunting and could take hours - I shortened the process tremendously by removing the assembly and used the Phillips screw that looks like it holds the adjuster gear in place and made full turns with the screwdriver directly. Some of the adjustments required 20 or so full turns. I would then install and check alignment and estimate how many more full turns were necessary and then remove the assembly and do it again. I found that turning counter clockwise raised the light and on the other adjustment, moved it too the outside.
Video was just what I needed! Got replacement at JY, tore up dash on donor van because I didn't know what I was doing - replacement part laid around for over a year bc didn't want to do same on ours. This video gave me what I needed to know to get the air bag out and then it was a breeze to replace the handle. Thanks!
I just got my hood struts replaced! It really was easy as lifting the tab and pulling. Installation was just shoving it in reverse order of taking it out. Thanks again for this video!
Thank you, thank you! This worked beautifully for me. The whole fix took about 10 minutes. The only thing I did differently was to spray the connections with contact cleaner. I also took the time to log my radio settings before I disconnected the battery, but when I reconnected it, everything was there including my phone numbers.
Just fixed my cruise control using the steps in this video. Takes maybe a minute to do it. I will say that I did it first and my cruise started working when I turned my car on. However, about an hour later when I turned my car back on it had stopped working. Re-did the steps and it started working again. Any idea how to make this a permanent fix?? Also, for other viewers info, I did these steps while my car was on and had no issues with the airbag or anything. I found that you don’t have to disconnect the battery.
This worked perfectly on my 2011 Hyundai Elantra. Thank you so much for sharing this video! I haven't had cruise control for a couple of years, and I have a big trip coming up so I wanted to get it fixed. Your video just saved me a couple hundred bucks at the mechanic.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. The left side of the controls started to act weird and suddenly they stopped working. Following the instructions here I was able to fix them. The steering wheel is a bit different than the one in this video (the whole at bottom is missing) bet everything else seems the same. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the help! If this doesn’t work for you, I found the solution for this problem! It’s posted on this link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n3_Jwo77pBc.html I installed the new part today and it works flawlessly. Just thought I’d help
