What about leaving a bit of the sprue on the end of the fitting and drilling a hole big enough for that to fit inside of? Obviously, that would require enough space on your part (radiator in this video) to for the bigger hole but it seems like doing that might eliminate some steps and could make for a stronger connection.
@MKCAUTOMODELWORKS
@MKCAUTOMODELWORKS 27 дней назад
Hi CKDezines...Yes that's a good point! Something I didn't mention in my video. For sure in some cases you can do with the standard fitting but I have found most of the time I do need to use the custom wire fitting to make things work...cheers Mark

Hello Albert...No worries!...I will answer this the easy way....yes, yes and yes...One of the advantages of the xtreme metal is that it much more durable than alclad II paints. But even if you use Alclad II, once you get the clear color coat on its as durable as any lacquer...cheers Mark

Mark, she looks really good. Nice to have it completed and move onto something a lot less challenging. I have just finished refurbishment of the JPS Lotus 72 and consequently do not want to deal with pin-strip decals for some considerable time. The next kit for me is the Tamiya Lotus 49B. An older kit but looks pretty straight forward as far as assemble goes. Enjoy your seummer. Dave.

Fantastic! I've been an aircraft modeler for most of my modeling life, but I've recently begun building more cars/trucks. I purchased some Detail Masters braided line and compression fittings but haven't tried to use them as yet. Really didn't know how to be honest. This is a great tutorial. I wonder if your Top Studio brand is available in the USA? Peace and love.

@MKCAUTOMODELWORKS Месяц назад
Hi Bookads...Thank you for your comment...yes while I am no expert on airbrushes...you best bet is a 0.5 needle for those car body paint sessions ...anything smaller is best suited to fine details. I did originally owned a cheap no name knockoff and simply could not get along with it. In the end I bought a Iwata HP-CR Revolution. The second I started to use it I fell in love with it...and being a 0.5 needle works perfect for cars. Anyway that's what I exclusively use...no doubt others out there but I think you wont go wrong with something like that...do check out my two videos on that airbrush...ok good luck... cheers Mark ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XLNNKE5bdpY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--78NeE6YUrY.html

Mark, nice to see the RE-20 nearly complete. I like the chrome heat foil in the engine bay, I should have done the same but I am not taking it apart now. I am resurrecting a JPS Lotus 72 at the moment as the orginal decals displayed horrible 'silvering' on the carrier film. The colour of the after market decals are incorrect as they are a mustard colour and should be gold as they were during the 1973 session. And they are VERY delecate, the pin-strips constantly tear and the JOHN of John Player Special disintergrated on one side of the corkpit bodywork. I had to paint it on by hand. Looks okay considering but that will be the side facing the back of the display cabinet. All the best, Dave.

Yea, all your work is gorgeous. And your right. Some kit manufacturers. Seem to only manifest a pile of expensive crap. And when you ask them why. They answer with, you must be a beginner. Any thing to blame some one else. It’s even worse when they run the injection molds to the absolute end. Money has become far more valuable than any sense quality or even a moral obligation to the customer. As they keep raising the price per kit. To cover there depletion of consumer confidence in the product. All that’s left to be said is, remember when? Yea there not around any more. They use to be the best. Yea they just went to shit. They use to be really good, but there not even around any more. So goes there epitaph.

Really enjoying these builds and the extra detail is great advice for the next time I build this. I built it about three years ago and the two pieces that I have so much difficulty with are the two pieces of rectangular white bodywork either side of the cockpit. Once I had installed the enormous yellow chassis piece from underneath, it was either already warped or splayed open just enough that those rectangular pieces were not wide enough to connect from the monocoque to the yellow bodywork. As I am sure you will, I highly recommend a test fit☺️☺️👍👍

Mark, I think we have to put the challenges of this kit assembly experience down to 'character building'. Interesting that you had problems with the vertical alignment of the rear wing support. The vertical orientation went fine for me but the horizontal alignment was out, as in the leading edge of the wing not being parallel with the rear axle. I'm looking forward to how you deal with the throttle cable. Cheers, Dave.

Hi David, Yes "character building" is a good way to look at it I guess. Some models have you beat...not beat on this yet but its close!! Anyway trust your new build is going well....keep me up to date with that...talk soon...cheers Mark
