@rontannehill9679 I wish I had more insights here, but I am down in Houston, and rust frames aren't very normal unless you are closer to the coast. What I have seen online, though, is folks applying protective coastings on the underside annually and having good luck with that. I figured that would be kinda standard practice further up north for most cars, but that's kinda out of my wheelhouse. Everything else has been holding together great though.
I recently picked up 2014 GX460. Just starting to decide on lift and mod. I was wondering how bad those heavy tires further wrecked the already poor gas milage?
@Dzazter Thanks for the comment. I've actually only noticed a pretty small difference. Maybe ~5%? I noticed way more difference in braking distance, though. The GX460 (imo) already felt like it had sensitive brakes. Now, it feels like it still has sensitive brakes but a longer braking distance.
@@NVSTRZ34 Appreciate the reply. Funny you say that. I was just looking at a brake kit from Stoptech and some stainless steel brake lines. I think Im going to go with 265/70 17 K02 for tires. They seem to be the only ones I like that come in C load rating. Yours was looking really good in that vid. Did you ever get he bumpers?
Are all 2013’s immune to the oil gallery gasket issue? Is that confirmed because I see conflicting statements online and can’t seem to find an official answer from Nissan or Infiniti anywhere. Are we sure the 2013’s have this issue fixed?
@npprom I've now seen conflicting statements too. I would say 2013's are probably not immune. If 2013 owners are saying they are having issues, I would assume it happens to them too. Maybe some of the failures just come with time and would make sense that we see more years as the 370Z platform ages.
Hey! So I know my 350z HR needs gallery gaskets but I was wondering if it’s possible if my intake cam sprockets need replacing too I have a p0011, p0021 and p0300 car runs very rough for the first mile and then it seems to clear up also has a very hard time starting sometimes. Are these symptoms related to gallery gaskets also or should I also need to replace my intake sprockets?
Excellent video! I love the way you explain the problem, what it takes to repair it, and what else you may as well address while you're working on the engine. Very well done sir!
My Dec 2023 GX 460 pulsates when the break is lightly pressed in slow motion either forward or reverse gear, Bob Johnson Lexus in Rochester, NY says there is nothing wrong with the SUV, everything is as per spec and this is a design problem from Lexus. Wonder if any others have the same problem, I never had this issue with the three 4Runner Limited's that I owned in the past. There is no vibration while breaking at higher speeds, issue is only at very low speeds like when you move slow in bumper to bumper traffic with break half pressed. I feel the pulsations on my legs and arm rest, there is no vibration on the steering wheel.
@dont9549 I've noticed my brakes are SUPER SENSITIVE. Pulsating brake pedal is normal (in my experience) under slightly higher than normal braking instances as ABS kicks on.
Middle of summer 90 degrees in new england... AC full blast at idle got to 192ish steadily on a g37S same thing but I have the mishimoto thermostat so it might help.. I heard it lets it open at a few degrees cooler
@tedlu008 Have kept an eye on all things mentioned. No repairs necessary since this video (including the very small KDSS leak). Just oil changes and also chose to do a diff fluid change.
The fact that they’re telling you to fix it is crazy. Most stores will tell you that if you tried to fix/service any warrantied product on your own, it voids the warranty because only a “certified technician” can work on it. I personally think that they should’ve granted the warranty right away. What else is the warranty for?
At the time when prices were raising like crazy? Yes. Now... I believe I mostly got lucky on the KDSS leak. It hasn't really been an issue thankfully. Would be more cautious now as KDSS issues can be expensive.
@postskeetclarity They are dropping fast. Unless something crazy happens, I suspect that they will keep going down. Doesn't change my plans on owning mine for quite a while though.
Yo i just got a 2015 Nismo Tech with 66k and mannn I'm absolutely loving this car!! Also, is it bad the car hits around 220 oil temp? Its always about 100 plus in my area atm lol
The reason a fully functional alternator would fail to "CHARGE" a dead battery... is because the battery is discharged too low. When a battery is discharged below 2 volts... too much of the electrolytes are chemically bonded to the Cathode Plates. The more a battery is discharged, the more energy that is required to debond the electrolytes off of the Cathode Plates, so they can dissolve into solution, & bond to the Anode Plates, rebuilding the battery's Electrical Potential. This is why dead batteries need a Boost Charge from a high (60 - 150 Amp) battery charger to debond the electrolytes, & then switch to a low (1 - 3 Amp) maintain function to keep the electrolytes bonded to the Anode plates until the battery's Electrical Potential is stablized. Once the cathode plates have been desulfided... the battery will leak down at it's normal rate, holding its charge for the normal period of time. The reason alternators typically fail to achieve this, is because most of their power output does not pass through the battery, & what does pass through, remains relatively constant & does NOT get regulated down to a low 1 - 3 A trickle charge. A 60 Amp alternator stays running at about 60 Amps... a 130 Amp alternator stays running at about 130 Amps... etc., with only about 10 - 15 Amps going to the battery. Now on newer cars that are equipped with a battery voltage sensor on the negative terminal... the ECU does regulate the amperage passing through the battery. When the battery is fully charged... the ECU will regulate the current to 1 - 3 A, only allowing a trickle charge to enter the battery. When the battery has very low voltage... the ECU will regulate a boost charge into the battery, allowing most of the alternator's current output to pass through the battery, & progressively step down that Amperage to a 1 - 3 A trickle charge. Note... vehicles that have these type of charging systems need to have a Battery Reset Function performed, when a new battery is installed, or the ECU will not properly regulate the recharge cycle of the new battery. This is because once the ECU gets use to boost - triclkle charging an old battery... it will continue to charge the new fully charged battery this way, causing it to over heat during the boost charge cycle & causing permanent sulfication on the plates... thus shortening the battery's lifespan.
Looks great & I love the chop, great job. License frame says Westside, which I assume is Westside Lexus in Houston? Which shop do you use? Looking for a competent shop myself
It was Westside Lexus in Houston. Highly recommend Duggys Garage in Houston. I have another video on this channel featuring them going over my GX. Excellent customer service. 🤝
My GX JUST hit hit the lot as a trade in. This was right at the beginning of Covid too so quality pickings were thinning by the day. I tried to do a once over but admittedly didn't have the experience covered in the video. Luckily, everything has been operating smoothly though.
@@NVSTRZ34Thank you for this information. I’m trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger on a 2017 GX Executive trim with 155,000 KM (97,000 Miles). The dealership provided all the maintenance records and all the maintenances were done on time. The dealership said it’s CPO but seeing all the issues you reported on yours I’m a bit hesitant.
Me who works at autozone watching this.Trying to see if an agm batteries are worth it.And actually u could’ve had ur battery charged at Autozone instead of going through all that hassle
Very good review about this battery, I got mine brand new for 100.00 bucks including shipping, in ebay I believe I was lucky to got this price, so when I watched this video I go quickly and I bought it… If I do not watch this video I never probably buy this battery …good review plus you have a new subscriber…
I appreciate your insight. 2013z (stock) 21000 miles. Excellent sports car so far. Had the gas gauges issue with a service light. Fixed by pulling the fuel level sensor on the drivers side, shook it and reinstalled with some gasket lube. 3 days later the service light is off. Thx for the video. We'll see whats next 😅
Just FYI, this issue is also prevalent in the VQ40DE in the Nissan SUVs. But, you can't buy the gaskets from Nissan. You have to buy the entire rear cover. There are aftermarket options for gaskets, however. The VQ40 gaskets are not the same as the smaller engines.
its funny cuz on my g37 the hood struts were broke when i bought it. luckily rockauto had some and was fixed in two days. good vid man, glad to know about the CSC failure.
The timing cover can end up leaking on these. It leaks oil. The front bumper cover and basically everything from the front of the engine has to be removed.
Have 5100s on my tacoma on all 4 sides with OME springs up front and an add a leaf out back. Budget friendly, great suspension set up. Kings are superior, but for the price difference, I'd rather use my savings for lights and such.
You should maintain your battery with a trickle charger or a solar panel to trickle charger battery when you're not using your car make sure all your accessories shut down shut down everything
U didnt have to go through that, they shoukd ve honor the warranty. That was a horrible. Not everyone has acess to trickle charge especially in major cities
