I started uploading weekly vlogs when I moved from LA to London for a year in September 2016. I now work full-time as a change management consultant in NYC, but in my free time create videos about my career, travels, and anything else that strikes my fancy.
I want to say we did like $300-500 but I can’t remember exactly! You could bring US cash and exchange a couple hundred at a time, I didn’t see too much of a difference in exchange rates throughout
I know the video didn’t show everything, so what would you say your favorite cuisine was. I was looking for a lot of the typical dishes and eateries, because although I’m familiar with places in the area, I know there’s always new places to try. I know the $145 is not for everyone, but I do appreciate your perspective as well as local vloggers, and I enjoyed seeing the various places you ate at.
Love the content! I’d love to learn more about how you found balance over the years with consulting - as well as how you brand yourself/ how you’ve found a focus area at work to ensure you’re not doing a bunch of random projects/ pursuits & how you’ve ensured growth. Thank you🙏🏻
Been following this vlog for close on 10 years. Really been a pleasure following your journey and being inspired each time. All the best with the sabbatical 💕
Hi, I just subscribe to your channel. I as well just finished my masters in logistics supply change management from Embry Riddle. It’s been a month now and I am currently on the market looking for a job. But I do have a business which keep me sustaining until then. I’m not panicking just ready to get in my field, but I understand that this is common for graduates , thanks for sharing these great tips to help us through these times.
Do you still plan on living in the city while family planning? :) Happy you got this break! I've been working in consulting for about 9 months now, and I'm grateful to get a one week vacation.
Hi there, I'm currently working as a technical writer and got a chance to work as a Senior Analyst Change Management. I'm not sure whether to step in this domain bcz I have worked in different jobs, and everyone's saying management consultant job is hard. Can you shed some light on this pleaseee ❤
i tried to message you on you Instagram but the link doesn't work.. is it possible to receive a digital copy of the spread sheet it would save a lot of time.. thank you so much for you work great video!
We opted to stay at one spot for the most part, and just moved the last two nights (one night on Vieques so we could do the kayaking, and then one final night near the airport). I think it’s preference in terms of airbnb vs hotel. We had 4 people so it just made more sense for us (and we made sure to find a place with free parking)
I admire people who have clear goals and plans. Your career journey inspires me. I am happy that you’re taking the break. Looking forward to the Korea vlogs.
2 years ago I faced a similar predicament after starting my grad role at Goldman Sachs. I wasn’t finding the work meaningful or fulfilling and pivoted into the tech industry to work at Microsoft. I was put on instant gardening leave and I had a 6 week gap to re-evaluate my priorities. It gave me the opportunity to start Techpods, spend time with family and think about my medium to long term goals outside of my career. It sounds like you’ve put in a great deal of thought. Hope it provides you with the same opportunity!
Hey Kchoi! Congrats on your journey! I've been following you for a while, but this is my first time dropping a comment. I can totally relate to your experience. I spent six years in the corporate grind, doing PR and marketing for Tencent and NetEase, pretty much around the clock. When the pandemic hit and everything got topsy-turvy, I decided to hit pause and embark on a journey of self-discovery. I quit my job and became a freelancer. I landed in Dali, a tranquil spot in southwest China, and enjoyed a blissful year on sabbatical. Then, I jumped into the crypto rabbit hole and spent nearly three years as a researcher. It was a wild ride, but deep down, my love for film and drama never waned. so I take another break and I'll be starting at NYU Tisch this fall (I even had this daydream of bumping into you for coffee in New York!) I guess we deserve a break after putting in the hard work, and sometimes, the journey itself matters, just like a marathon. also a marathon runner, Your Paris marathon sounds like a dream. Enjoy every moment of it!
i have a much more fractionned career i started as a lab technician but never got a permanent job in that field so after 10 years of trying i shifted towards cybersecurity aaaaaaand once again im in between 2 jobs right now (basically im unemployed ahah) anyway i hope these 3 months will be beneficial to you and i hope you will have a great time to reconnect with your roots in Korea! (watching from france ahah)
Great to hear you're taking time off with a sabbatical, as someone who is in a similar situation (10 years in corporate). I'm currently in the middle of mine (although I resigned from my employer and am travelling through SE Asia at the moment basing in Bangkok). Also a runner, so its great to see you run Paris. As an Aussie who spent time in London its always great seeing your Europe videos. Hopefully you'll be able to post more while you're travelling, Cheers !
Love how organized and dedicated you are with your priorities in life short term & long term! The sabbatical will be great especially with summer season coming up 🙌🏼

Wow that was unexpected, but great news for you. Seems the perfect time for you to have a career break and do some 'me' things. Hope you get everything you want from it and looking forward to seeing your content especially from Korea a place I've always wanted to travel to.
As someone who is a similar life stage, I really appreciate the perspective of both structure and freedom that you are approaching this situation with! I’d love to hear more about the tactics you are using to work through the “HOW / WHAT do I ACTUALLY want the next stages of my career to look like”!
You have always been an inspiration and you continue to inspire. This video comes exactly when i needed as I am planning to take a break from my work. I wish you a great time in your break from the corporate job and I wish you all the best.
I think the points you made were good. You are definitely an American, because you use 15 words where 5 will do - even at 1.2 speed I was surpised how few points you made and how little was discussed, you convey about the same a Brit does with 1/3 of the words. Not trying to be rude, obviously a cultural difference. Do Koreans have the same verbose talking style?
