I have been mulling this over in my mind and now to see it in action it is super exciting. I especially loved when you put three in a row making a full on train. I am curious though, since you knew the trike that was going to be following, why did you not create the bracket to keep the front fork of the rear trike the same height off of the ground that it would be if it were connected to an actual wheel?
Whats the best set up for a duel chain trike in a mountainus region? Is it possible to do rear wheel drive with duel chain? What are the pros and cons with converting a duel chain trike to electric i guess is what i would like to know if anyone has any knowledge on that
God my home state has turned into a gentrified shithole. Before all the Californians this sort of asinine contraption would (rightfully) be met with mockery and contempt.
I found an older sun seeker from a friend and I put a bafang Bbs02 b mid drive motor which works great. Just hit 2500 miles on the motor and still runs strong. Only thing I need is the rear frame and axle assembly with disc brakes on both sides which is hard for me to find for a sun seeker x3ax trike. It has some bad bearings in the frame for the rear axle which also locked up the axle to the bearings prevents me to disassemble for matinance or repair. Love the channel and love to have a quad for casual/commute with high speed for all purpose riding since bicycles and tricycles are my main transport.
I put a motor on my trike because I got tired of the constant SEVERE cramping pain in my legs after a ride of any appreciable distance. I put a bafang 750 on my terra trike, I love it. I have a throttle on it because it saves my knee. I usually only use it at starts and steep hills. Thinking of putting another motor on either my Ryan vanguard or my tour easy.
I currently have a 5 year old terratrike rambler with 8 speed cassette and front 2 speed set. Normally ride 5-7 miles daily for exercise with about 800 miles for the rear. Considering adding a mid drive for hills etc. . Would you have recommendations for efficiency and cost?
Price wise and for ease of install I would definitely recommend a Bafang mid drive motor. They are easily installed with a kit and offer a throttle and pedal assist. The kit we have used for the rambler before is this listing here - www.utahtrikes.com/PROD-11620440.html -
I have a 72 Volt HV kit on my recumbent trike because it is heavy, especially with the battery weighing 27 pounds. I have very steep hills in my area, so the motor is a must. I only have one rear gear because with over three thousand watts, gears aren't necessary, and I usually use power level 2 out of 9 unless I'm going uphill, then I might use power level 4. I make an effort to fly under the radar and keep my speed under 20 mph to satisfy the legal aspect but could easily hit 45 + mph.
Would a class three motor give you more range if you kept your speed down and how does a class three motor vs two or one motor do on torque when say crawling up an off road trail with a Full Fat?
@@UtahTrikesOnline great to know, it would be great to see a video like this with the enviolo hub as well with maybe one of the foreign brands like Azub or Ice
I’ve had a Dumont (non electric version) for about 2 years. Great for touring and some speed work. I can ride comfortably all day long around 17mph. The suspension and gel seat really take the meanness out of the road.
I'm calling BS on this "pulling out the bushings with your fingers" It has been two hours and I'm stil trying to conjure up some type of press out tool for these. Catrike must have improved the tollerance since this video was made. Not happy! Can you tell me what size the ID and OD is on these so I can find some? Thanks!
What would be accomplished by adding a Schlumph Drive would that be able to add some top end? And what happens if you lose all or some of your electronics and you are 30 miles from home?
New trike owner and I have a Yaris (small car.). I got a used Catrike at a price I couldn’t pass on and my first thought was, how in the wide world of sports am I going to get this to the bike trails? My wife has a SUV and while that will most certainly haul this great trike, there are times that the SUV is not available. I went to look at options on a bike rack as I thought the same, no way a $350+ suction cup “bike rack” is going to find its way on my car (I mean, suction cups, really? Didn’t I see this on a old McGauver episode?). After looking into my options I realized real fast that the $350 suction cup bike rack was not only a solid option but became the option that made me research said product which lead me to purchase said product (mine is on the way at the time of me typing this.). Who would have ever thought we would be buying suction cups to place on the top of our cars to carry three wheeled bicycles from here to there? Then again, the last time I rode a three wheeled type bike was when I was a kid and that was a Green Machine…LOL. How the times have changed and I finding myself enjoying riding again (and thanks to these suction cups I can take my trike with me to find more trails to ride.).
I can imagine that with two front wheels and without the risk of falling forward or have the front wheel slip from underneath you, there is more breaking power in a trike vs a bike.
Maybe you could suggest the best trike for my space. I have a Hyundai Accent (small sedan). Till recently I carried a folding bike with no problems , but now I have balance issues and am debating: trike or "stability wheels"? If there's any adult trike that can fit in that trunk, I'd be a happy camper! Thanks!
any of the folding catrikes should work. If you wanted even more then azub has a compact folding option where you remove the wheels it's just a bit more effort
