Make the adjustment at 50 yards. Normally it only takes a 1/4 turn or less to do this. You'll also notice that the focus will improve at that distance. Thanks for watching!
@@kennethdellinger2037 I put it to the test, immediately I noticed if you try to put it in gear for a parking brake substitute, it’s hard and you can’t do it without using the clutch. I also noticed everything feels more loose in general with the feel of the shifter.
@@kennethdellinger2037 Interesting story.. I used to subscribe to Guns and Ammo magazine that was pretty much started by Elmer Keith, and absolute LEGEND. He took delivery of the first .357 and .41 magnum revolvers to review. He was a real "Mans man" he considered any caliber that didn't start with a "4" a woman's caliber. I remember reading an article about the first .41 mag. He loved it, it was fast and flat. His number one complaint was that when in his favorite firing position, leaning against a tree with his arms resting on his knees, The holes were too hard to see on a paper plate at 700 yards.. Dead serious. What a character.
Great videos I almost bought a new scope, because of the cross hairs, these scope companies might be happy they don't have to do the repairs with your videos , we all win
Way out west there was this fella…fella I wanna tell you about. Fella by the name of Jeff Lebowski -Sam Elliot. Man you should do voice acting because your voice and accent is amazing. Very Sam Elliot
About 30 grains of H110, pushing a 180 XTP out of my Model 29-2, is a fun fun round to shoot! Shoots about a 3’ flame out of the end of that 8 3/8” barrel! Really gets the heads turning at the indoor range!
I see you like your Thompson Centers. Did you see they were sold back to the previous owner before smith&wesson bought them? They are promising to go back to their roots. Supposedly, they are going to have new products coming out in 2025. Im kinda excided as i loved my encores.
I do love 'em. Became a TC head just before the pandemic. Bought two dirt cheap. Glad I got them when I did as they're fetching a price now. Someone commented about the TC purchase but gave me no info. I Goggled it and didn't find anything there. Glad to here it. Thanks for the info.
Kenneth, as a point of interest, I witnessed a penetration comparison test done by the Arizona G&F between a .44 magnum from a pistol @ point blank and a broad-head tipped arrow from a 60# bow shot into a milk jug filled with sand. The jug of sand stopped the .44 round but the arrow surprisingly zipped right through it. Anyway thank you for taking the time and trouble to share your interesting bullet test!
That's an interesting result. I'm an avid hunting archer myself using primitive bows in the 50# range. They produce a fraction of the energy of a modern compound bow. I am always amazed at the lethality of these bows. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this info. You just saved me a quite a bit of money. I was just sitting here trying to justify a reamer tool and chamfering tool to use on an old already bubba’d barrel. A lot of us semi-old timers prefer to do our own work and people nowadays are afraid to try anything. If it works for us, then it wasn’t the wrong choice. Thank again.
You're welcome. I agree. Dad used to say can't never did anything. Hope you're successful. I plan to work on my reloads when time permits and see how accurate the barrel really is. I was shooting milsurp powder and blem fmj bullets in the video.
I’m fortunate to have a working 4x16 Nikon Buckmaster and another Nikon muzzleloader scope. It sucks they gave into the gun control nuts. They made very high quality optics for a good price. Luckily we now have Arken
I have the same encore. Did the trigger on it and have shot deer out to 150yrds in the 50 muzzle loader barrel. I have yet got another barrel for it as they are pricey almost the price of a ruger American. But I am really interested in the 44 mag barrel and the 22-250 barrel
Encore addict here. I have the 50 cal Endeavor Prohunter and the standard Encore in the video. My .223 barrel shoots great after I recrowned it. I have 06 and .270 barrels that I plan to get serious with soon. They're a little picky about loads and how I shoot them. When I am satisfied with them I'll post something. The 44 mag is my favorite barrel though. My go to woods gun. Just got into the Contenders also. Gotta stop finding deals. In love! I agree they are pricey. You can find deals sometimes though on Graybeard Outdoors.
@@kennethdellinger2037 Mine is the Endeavor also. Have you got the trigger spring kit from E A Brown? Made a world of difference and pretty easy to install with my limited gunsmithing experience. To it down to 3.5lbs.
@@dhooter I didn't buy the spring kit but modified the original. Took a little experimentation but I'm at a 1 pound pull. A little light for a bolt action hunting rifle but safe in a hammer gun I think. I also polished the parts per M Bellm's instructions. As good a trigger as I've every shot .
Very much appreciate the thought, demonstration and results. Our family has hunted and harvested many, many whitetail deer over the years with 44 magnum revolver and rifles. I took have used saboted 44 magnum bullets in muzzleloader for deer. In all of these the primary bullet has been Hornady 240 XTP. Many deer have been 40-50 yards. A good # have been out to 75(even a doe with a revolver). A few have been 100-120 with 44 rifle and 100 grain of 777 in muzzleloader. The XTP has always proven to be very effective with good placement. Enjoy and happy hunting. Subscribed.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. The 240 xtp is in my opinion the best 44 factory bullet out there. A little thin skinned for the .444 ( my opinion) but perfect for the 44 mag, muzzleloader and pistol. The high bc extends it's range more than people realize. Just completed testing it all the way out to 300 yards. I'll post that video soon.
Absolutely, water does work it just destroys so many jugs each time you shoot. With this setup you can reuse the jugs over and over again by simply taping the holes. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Found it looking for a scope for Crosman 1377 custom shop air pistol I ordered. I shoot mostly airguns, lots of springers. I have 2 scopes that are both AO that are now set at infinity to get them clear at 25 years so something has moved for sure inside. I been wanting to take them apart and see why they fail on spring guns. Will watch the other videos on taking them apart.
@@kennethdellinger2037 Yeah, just the springers. They jump a little backwards like a normal rifle when the spring drives the piston forward, then suddenly jolt the gun forward when the piston hit's the end of the compression tube. Most scopes are designed to withstand the recoil back, but not the jolt sudden jolt forward that follows.
Really enjoying your videos. It’s all good. Good to hear an American country voice that I can understand and knows his business. I personally thank you taking the time to share your knowledge with us.👍
Did Vic Crumpler teach you how to rebuild transmissions or did you teach Vic??? Great video. If Elon Musk knew about you Kenny, he would hire you to work for SpaceX repairing rockets.👍👍
I have not. Took a buck at 90 yards last fall. Quartering away , pass through, dead on his feet. I have no reservations about a close shot though. I'll post results if I do.
Correction to my first reply. A couple of years ago my wife shot a buck through the shoulders at 15 yards using this bullet in her muzzleloader. @ 1700 fps I recovered the bullet under the hide of the opposite shoulder. No jacket separation. Hope this helps.
Learned something once again by watching this video. I’ve had scopes that were like that and I didn’t know I could make that adjustment. Once again, Thanks for sharing.👍👍
Nice. I got a similar one in my '93 T-Bird SC. The RKE-M5R2. I made a bearing puller out of a three jaw puller and the interior tube from one of my shock absorbers. Took a long piece of threaded rod a nut and a large washer to make the screw drive part that pushes agains the output shaft. Happy trails man.
@8.10 you can 'pour' argon into the scope as its heavier than air, just direct the hose into the objective side of the vertical scope and allow the argon to force the air out like filling a glass with water. Then you can screw the objective lens back on with a high percentage of argon in the scope. How does one adjust parallax on a scope that does not have the adjuster? I shoot .177 pellets at 25 yds and would like to BZO this scope at that fixed range. That looks very much like my Tasco World Class 3-9x40 scope with a slightly different zoom ring.
The argon idea would work. If your Tasco is made like the Nikon in the video just screw the cover off the objective lens and run the lens in or out to correct the parallax at any given range.
Yes sir this is single action. Hard to describe a dual action with words only but the front sleeve would be threaded and the nut welded to the round rod. Instead of being welded solid at the other end there would be a washer welded on either side of the sleeve. you get a push pull action that way if that makes sense. A bit more complicated to make. I've never had a need for a double action rod though some people swear by them. I build the neck with about .005 relief built in before gluing on the fret board so the tendency is for the neck to bow forward. Never had a neck back bow although I understand it could happen. I think the built in relief prevents that in my experience.
