I stuck with the 6KFF and it’s been my favourite camera of the decade. I’ve never had a camera before that does what I wanted it to do without a rig and extra monitor! I did add the battery grip though. Kinda feel like I’m shooting with a Canon 1Dx lol. I really feel like the 6KFF is gonna go down as a classic!
There’s no point doing a video about this. There’s no product to buy. Nobody has it. DGI has no idea when they’re going to put it in production. Just a bunch of hype about something that you can’t even purchase.
So how did I purchase one? Clearly they do exist, DJI doesn't sponsor me. However why talk about something that is currently out of stock....because it will come back in stock. It's not sold out indefinitely, in the mean time those interested can consider its features and decide if it's worth purchasing.... when it's back in stock.... which it will be. Weird criticism.
I’m 2 and a half years in at 37 years old. I have some of the symptoms but not all. Some of the symptoms have gotten slightly better (hand tremors and pins and needles) and others have gotten a lot worse (autonomic dysfunction, dysphagia, fatigue). That fluctuation in symptoms gives me some hope that it may not be MSA. I have young children that still need me.
Amazing guidance for the specific use case you laid out, brilliant. In my case, I'd love to shoot with log and and ND filter, but I would like the ability to record sound internally. Looking at the record modes on the 15pro, I see that it can shoot log in 1080, potentially negating the need for a external SSD if the clips were somewhat short, like a cinematic shot of my toddler picking her nose at the beach and then pissing her pants. I have a small pocketable microphone I could plug in to get around the phone's mic being blocked by the ND filter? What do you think? I know some footage looks best when downsampled from 4K to 1080, so I really don't know if the image quality we're after demands 4K recording, in which case, I'll have to potentially bin this whole thing. Home movies without sound just seems kind of sad.
Yes will work absolutely. I record straight into cam if I don't have my SSD setup to hand in 4k Pro res LT, and then you can utilise the USB C for audio. And look, there's also absolutely nothing wrong with 1080 in my opinion. Nice even smaller setup with only the ND filter.
Thanks for an interesting and personal take on the system, not just a "review" per se. You've mentioned a dolly shot with Focus Pro - I think it's one of those things that are reeeeally hard to do manually, especially without a dedicated focus puller. And even with. You can usually pull a person running towards/from the camera in a few takes, etc, if the camera is not moving. But add another variable with a dolly or a gimbal in there and it becomes incredibly hard! The point is, in a situation where a good autofocus truly helps - it helps A LOT.
DJI's LiDAR focus is a fantastic and invaluable tool for filmmakers, offering precise and efficient focusing capabilities that elevate the quality of their work. However, despite its impressive features, the product has been frustratingly difficult to purchase. I've been waiting for three months without any success. It's perplexing why DJI would announce such an innovative product without ensuring its availability to eager customers.

I have a Sigma fp. Beautiful camera and wonderful colour science, but notoriously poor at any auto focus. Do you know whether this system can work with zoom lenses, or only primes? I can’t seem to get an answer. Maybe you have some thoughts.
I've been using their Lidar for a while now, just with the gimbal (well, once you set it up with the gimbal you can get autofocus without it as well). It's very useful for my run and gun setups. This new package makes everything simpler.
I tried the pdmovie lidar smart 3 (also lidar based system) with a bit of oil based haze (thinner) and it worked …. Not sure how much haze you meant when you said “liberal” amounts of haze …. 😊. I work a lot with thin haze so the system would be useless to me if it cannot focus with haze. Thanks.

Had similar issue. Thought I had not seen any fresh contend for a while, only to click on and realise I had missed a load of videos. If you click on the bell icon and change the notification setting to "all" it should solve the issue. I never really understood why the youtubes algorithm appears to not recommend Guys content. It's way more informative and far far farrrrr better produced than most of the garbage that tends to be recommended.

From what I remember people only asked for a box/cube style camera, all the other additions request and complaints followed after the announcement of the PYXIS , so let’s keep it honest.

No. A box camera is a box camera so that people can rig it how they want. Having a monitor on the top prevents you to have a convenient top plate and big enough top handle, and other stuff. People complain about that for the Komodo. Look at all main cinema cameras, who has the monitor on top??? None!! Many have a lot of buttons on the sides. Many Arri cameras even have menu monitor on the operator side. If you hand is holding the top handle it would be a nightmare having a monitor under there. There is no need to make a drama out of the side monitor, really. The position of the monitor on the pocket is horrible if you want to rig the camera. It makes the whole build absurdly long big and heavy if you want to put a v-mount behind. I own 5 Blackmagic pockets so I know what I am speaking about. The fact the sensor is the same of the Cinema FF is not a problem. Because finally it's a box camera as users have asked since years. For this price you can't expect them to put one of their in-house sensors of something new... It's just a Sony sensor that many use in the market. BP-U batteries aren't a problem if you know anything of rigging. Clearly the camera is not wide enough for the ports to fit with a v-mount directly on the camera. But assuming the majority will use some sort of mounting bottom plate, you can just use rails and put a v-mount plate on rails just behind a small BP-U, and voilà. So you have access to the v-mount, and to the ports. Believe me I have wanted a v-mount access directly on camera for long time, but I see that this can be the best solution without it becoming so stupidly huge like on the Pocket. The side monitor is just for settings. And settings on the side are fine, again, the main manufacturers do it like that. It's fine. The fact Komodo is made in that way doesn't mean all cameras need to be like that. I don't want it to be like a Komodo. Also, if you use a box camera, you know you will need an external monitor anyway, so no need to complain. You mention the lack of hdmi port... but I am grateful for the sdi port instead. Hdmi is no professional port, too weak and unreliable. I am the first to be critical about Blackmagic choices when I feel it is necessary, but it is ridiculous to complain about non-existent problems. It sends a wrong message, and it makes real critics of real problems less efficient for Blackmagic to take them into consideration. Just because of the mass of people ranting about stuff without having understood it. Please next time make a video only when you know what you are speaking about and after having used the camera in the way it is intended. Use the Pyxis, use it as a box camera, see how it works, you will see you will like it if you don't like the over-sized dslr style as you say.
These problems do exist, you're just choosing not to acknowledge them. I understand they made a box camera, a box camera that is quite flawed, thus leaving it open to criticism. If it works for you, great. But there's a lot of things that don't work for a lot of people. So it's not ridiculous to complain, it's what a professional would do who's interested in them making a good version of this. You don't like the Komodo top LCD screen, no problem, I also suggested a flip out screen on the side, but just a giant side screen with no controls or buttons anywhere else? C'mon that's not practical.
@@thesavagefilmmaker This is a 3000$ camera! You are complaining about the lack of features that exist in cameras that cost at least double if not 10 times more! (and don't include the Pocket in the list, that monitor is why the pocket form factor is unriggable, besides, no pocket ever had side foldable monitor) You need to be realistic. You made a 22 minutes video complaning about a camera without even having used it once! What if you use it and you discover that at the end the side monitor is not that unusable and actually the form factor allows so many more things more easily than the pocket?
I got the setup. my remaining issue is how to deal with storing the setup when not in use specifically the backside of the nd filter when not being used. is there perhaps a lens cap that can be placed over the back when its not being used do not really want to take the filter on and off every time i use it but that may be the best way
Video is informative, you are a charismatic gentleman and the content is substantive. Ergo 1000 total views is the correct push the algorithm should give you on this. I've recently had my most popular video get close to a millions views (SirBalz. Not this channel) multiple flaws with it as I've been growing in multiple areas. So naturally my new ones with far more investment and skill got 1k and a a recent whopping 4k! It's the best creator I just wanna give up formula they could come up with. Random astronomical success to regular non-explained total failure I do the promoting for the video as well, so as to give youtube a little hint. Getting posts with a link to the video in the comments to occasionally reach between 1k to 50k upvotes on reddit as well as 1k to 3k on facebook, some with articles on gaming magazines linking to the video itself. If I'm lucky all those factors in unison will bring in enough views to make it to 10k maybe 20k. All on my end, and that is the end though after 48 hours the video is just some relique to be found only by the most spelunky of users on the platform. Sorry for the rant 😂 Just got all this flowing in my head from a lot of what you mentioned here. And spectacular hollywood-esc sketch at the end. Makes me angry it was only viewed by me and three other people
The Gen4 Kingston ssd isn’t connecting to the iPhone 15. I’ve seen multiple videos that claim the iPhone isn’t compatible with Gen 4 but is with gen 3. Am I doing something wrong?
Just curious, have you spoke with them for some of these answers? These companies do things for a reason, they do listen to feedback, heck they asked me last year, 2023 cinegear and ask me again at 2024 cinegear - the questions were not tech, but workflow. doesnt mean I agree with everything, but they cant please everyone. As to who sits next to their camera, me, most of the time, even if I have a crew or solo. - Is it a great camera? I have no idea, but I never say a company did or didnt do something because what were they thinking! As I have been involved with several of these companies and everything is a compromise, price point, placement in the product line etc. You see, sometimes adding a $1 part can mean a $2.60 increate in retail price. adding an XLR could mean multiple changes. Dont blindly say company A does it it so why doesnt company B? because maybes is a product placement issue, imagine they do everything you want, and now it kills the ursa sales
You can't please everyone, but you can logically iron out glaring problems before introducing them into a camera. I love Blackmagic, but this is a very flawed design. No I haven't spoken to them, but I'd love to speak to whoever they spoke to who told them this layout was a good idea. Also the whole concept of not doing something because it will hurt your old product only creates new products that are missing important features. It's the same thing everyone complained about Canon for doing in their cameras.

My wife was diagnose with MSA in 2020 but symptoms were present in 2017. Now her condition has deteriorated to where she has trouble walking and talking. She is the most loving and honest person I have ever met. She is fighting and working at PT everyday to continue to have some quality of life. She has gone through cancer and won, a heart condition that was thought to require a transplant and won, but this is different. It's as if the gods, bent on destroying good people, have increased the anti and decided to play a game where they can't lose. MSA treatment has gone nowhere in the last 30 years. Good people are dying a horrible death. And let's not forget the caretakers who must sacrifice their lives and income to arrive at homelessness and aloneness. What a wonderful world.

I use both of those adapters, they are not wide angle, they are just ND filters to control the amount of light you are letting into the lens. Each adapter is a different strength, If I were to pick one, I'd go with the 6-9 stop ND the stronger one as I use it most often.
Cool video, but I'll just keep using my DJI Pocket 3 since you get everything in one small package, including internal connection for 2 DJI Mic 2's without the transmitter. I will use my iPhone 15 Pro Max for handheld shooting with little to no accessories since it's a pain in the ass to mount anything without a cage and a bunch of shit dangling and sticking out from it. I guess if you already have the phone and don't wanna spend the cash on the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 creator combo and an additional DJI Mic 2, then you can rig out the phone instead on the cheap.
I’m mainly a Panasonic shooter but when I saw the 6k FF I purchased it. Tried it for about a month and sold it. Loved the image but the battery was so bad I only used it with a v-mount battery which blocked the screen so I had a screen on top. I really didn’t like the sound I was getting and with no way to sync my Mixpre 3 ii other than clap….. I decided to sell it. I would rather put my own ND’s on the front of the lens rather than have bad internal NDs so I didn’t mind lack of ND. I used to own the Komodo and I hated the top screen and only used that camera with an SDI monitor but sold that one too. When I saw the PYXIS release I immediately ordered it as it has a time code port, love the screen on the side as it will only be for status as I’ll still run an SDI monitor on top and I’m sure someone will have a v-mount option by the time it ships. What this camera gives me over the S5iix is 6k open gate with anamorphic 1.6 in true 24fps. Have a set of Sirui anamorphic L mount lenses with a 1.6 squeeze so this camera was made for me. I wouldn’t have cared if they put the monitor on the bottom…..
