Excellent effort! I also have the NG Riviera. It's awesome! Did you know the solo was recorded on a Fender Strat? I only found that out recently. Sounds better on the Epiphone if you ask me! 😜
Sounds class - i want to learn to play the guitar and im just buying this outright because i think it looks and sounds the dogs bollocks and i can only try and give it a go i suppose! any tips?
Hello mate. Thanks for your comment. If you want to buy your first guitar I recommend a cheaper model. This is a professional model suitable for those who are already at advanced levels. You could buy a Les Paul or a Casino. Good guitars both for those who are just starting out and for those who have been playing for a long time.
I think it's a great guitar to start. Beginners' cheap guitars are not worth It. Full on! Get it and just play! Cos tonight you're a rocknroll star!!! 😎
I'm so happy for you, mate. This is an amazing guitar. My luthier also liked it, recognizing that the Epiphones of the past were made of superior quality. Even if Epiphone is now making good guitars again.
I've played an Ibanez like yours, but made in the 80s. I think the Epiphone Riviera is more comfortable to play and has a clearer sound than the Ibanez one. I prefer an Epiphone, about my personal likes. If you find it in a shop try it. You could probably like it.
@GuitarSupernova That's good information since I notice the harsh character of my Ibanez as well. Hence I'm looking for an alternative. One last question if I may: When you play your Riviera with distortion, do you feel like individual notes still retain their clarity overall? (This is my main problem with the Ibanez, everything sort of gets drowned)
Hello. This is an old guitar made at the beginning of the 90s in Korea, when Epiphone made very good guitars. Nowaday it makes great guitars. This model is out of stock since 30 years, but Epiphone still makes the EJ and the J models and they are very special guitars. I suggest to buy it to everyone who asks me about buying an acoustic guitar.
Hi, you've also made a video about the Casino, what are the main differences of the two guitars in terms of sound and playability? Which one is better in your opinion? Thanks
Hi. The differences between the Riviera and the Casino are the following: the Casino one has a more closed sound, a very lightweight body full of feedback, a bigger neck (not comfort to play for my likes) and different pick-ups. The Riviera one has a more comfortable neck (especially this particular model) a clearer sound and a heavier body. I prefer this one to the Casino. I played the Epiphone Casino Vintage Sunburst too and I confirm that I prefer the Riviera.
Thanks very much mate. There's is not feedback because of the volume. If you play it in a rehearsal room or on stage you can have a feedback like other guitars (I like it).
So mine is now in stock. Can’t decide if it’s just another epiphone or worth the premium? Wonder if they will do any other of his guitars? His ES355 would be epic.
I don't know why they make very good guitars only as limited editions for a couple of years and not regularly. His 335 by Gibson costs like a house. Crazy price.
My problem is I already have the Union Jack and I think that is more iconic and is much better spec. On reflection I just don’t think I associate this guitar with Oasis that much as he played many semi acoustics not just this one.
@@craighumphrey8698 I can see Do you mean this Epiphone Riviera? Because Noel Gallagher used it in his early Oasis years from 1994 to 1996. If you play and see an Epiphone Riviera you must think about Noel Gallagher. D'You know what I mean?
So having got my hands on one of these all I can say is I was wrong. Playability and feel is excellent as is the the tone! Sounds quite different to the Union Jack and is a very resonate guitar for an Epi. This is the best Epi I have played and that includes the LP 59. Great neck too I just wish it has a rosewood fret board and that the case was slightly better. Top guitar.
@@craighumphrey8698 I'm so glad that you liked this guitar, mate. Epiphone is making very great guitars over the last 7-8 years. I suggest you to play a J-200 model to feel the woods of the guitar and its sound. This Epiphone Noel Gallagher Riviera is very great.
They were originally were supposed to ve made in Japan. That's the only reason I took a chance. Mine said made in China and was completely unplayable. Ups picked up 2 days later and took it back. I'll never buy another Epi. China knows nothing about quality instruments..Japan is legendary..
I've never played an Epiphone acoustic made in China. They were always made in Korea and Indonesia and I always liked all of them, except the Epiphone AJ-220S. It was a guitar without a robust sound. Basses were totally absent because of the body. Almost similar thing with the Epiphone 1963 EJ-45. The rest of Epiphone guitars I played in general were very good guitars. I'm sorry for your experience. Japan ones were the top.
I love your approach! A "review" adds too much BS and opinion. You demo shows me what the guitar sounds like, to my ears! If I could just play that well!!!
Thanks very much mate. I really appreciate your words. I don't like so much demo videos with a lot of talking. I leave these things to others. I'm glad you liked my video.🎸
where did you get it? been waiting months for mine! Also how does it compare the UJ Sheraton? I have the UJ and whilst I want this Riviera I wonder if its gonna be too similar - thoughts???
I bought it on the website of a guitar shop here last month. It was the only one that they had available. They're similar for the comfort of the fretboard, the weight and the size.
@@craighumphrey8698 No. They're different. The Union Jack Sheraton has the Gibson mini-humbuckers and it reminds the Maine Road sound, more crystalline that pushes more on the treble. This Riviera has the classic Epiphone Alnico humbuckers.
Nice playing and guitar. :) I’ve just managed to get a 91’ Epiphone EJ200 which looks very similar to this (quite a red sunburst). I was just wondering if yours has the original Pickguard? Your Pickguard looks identical to Noel’s actually.. whereas mine is a lot more transparent!
Beautiful play!! I am getting a Korea EJ200 2005 soon!! I was wondering if the neck profile is comfortable like the J209 inspired by Gibson. What do you think?
Thanks very much mate. It depends by the guitar. I have a 2010 EJ-200 and it's very comfortable to play as much as the new Inspired by Gibson. The best way to have a clear idea is to play it in a guitar shop and try to understand what you like.
I'm thinking about investing in one of these, do you still recommend a year on? I play a lot of Oasis/high flying birds type stuff. Also what are the strings like that come with it?
Hello mate. I'm so sorry for my late reply. For some months the RU-vid app didn't show me notifications. I'm so sorry. Anyway I recommend this guitar for sure. You could put Martin 0.12 on it to hold the body and the woods sound in its fullness.
@@jonniefandango3013 You're welcome, mate. Are you sure about the model? There are some videos of the EJ200 Artist here on RU-vid. There aren't many, this is true.
Encantado. Es preciosa y muy bien construida. Un gran instrumento. Saludos. Le cambió los pins por casualidad?
