I had no idea how much residual 70esque garbage was still charting in 1982. Nobody told Player that you can't front a rock band if you have a skullet any more. I wonder how much payola was spent to get Leif Garrett and the Alessi Brothers in the lower tier of the Billboard Hot 100.
Altered Images was a British band. Between 1981 and 1983 they had 9 hits in the UK, 6 top 40 and 3 of them in the top 10. Including one that was number 1 on some British charts such as Melody Maker and NME. The band has since been inactive until 2022.
Gee, I forgot some of these songs were from 1963. I was 21 and got married in July of that year. As I've said before on RU-vid, I lost her to cancer less than 30 years later.
Étant un véritable fan d Abba, quelques chef d œuvres "mineurs" apparaissent dans votre classement : Eagle, Lay all your love, The day before, Thank you music, Summer night city, When all is said... Mais pitié Rock me, I do I do et l insupportable MM.
Are the weekly top 100 charts available online? I found the Top 40 ones but I grew up in the eighties and love finding the hidden gems that I might have forgotten over the years. Btw, great page.
manic street preachers having their first #1 and placebo having their highest chart position with pure morning was one of the musical highlights of a year where pop was the predominant genre and indie and metal bands barely troubled the charts after third or fourth singles from their albums. the rule on how many songs a single could have was brought in to favour the pop releases. system of a down's self titled debut was one of the best metal releases and idlewild's hope is important was one of the best indie releases even though i didn't get into them until much later down the line. new albums from pulp, bluetones, shed seven, ash and smashing pumpkins might not have reached the hights of their predecessors, but they were worthy listening. even some of their albums that they put out in the mid 2000s was better than the music that dominates the charts today.
I don't usually form any emotional attachments to music due to a somewhat terrible long-term memory, but some of these songs do vaguely remind me of playing with action figures in my room. I'm pretty sure they were small (3 3/4) G I. Joe action figures. Not a clear memory, just a vague notion.
12:05 A song that means something totally different to kids than it does to adults, lol It sounds like a kids song with rather nonsensical lyrics, but adults are quick to note that the song is actually about Nuclear War. I've been a bit obsessed with this song lately, along with Shriekback's "Nemesis".
