OMG - my husband and I DIY'd a kitchen in 2012 - thought there is no chimney on the roof - this must be decoration.... nope - HAHAHA. You know how we took it down though - brick by brick...
I love watching house flips, and you all did a great job , Your music was annoying I had to turn my volume down until you spoke, and I don't know how many times you said the word suck, and your cursing was distasteful. 🙄....js.
I know you probably are used to getting tons of nitpicky comments from people complaining about things you do that are fine, but I do feel like you should look into putting waterproofing over your cement board before tiling. Unless I'm misunderstanding something about your shower install, you should have redgard or some kind of membrane system before putting tile down...
Shed is a level 1 unless ya have an attached garage as a shed . This flip should’ve been a level 5 finish. Not hating as I feel the cost of labor and material nowadays but I’d def not put it on you tube if I were trying selling with no stagger and long floor to ceiling joints that’ll never slick up you’ll see that first coat of primer and it’s actually sad now they wasted their money and time and will need to do it again to save integrity of the drywall and paint. If he sold it asap maybe in 30 days and nobody opened that door and shut it even once he may be okay to get out of there without cracks but if it has been I’d bet it has cracked within 10 closings of the door. One simple mistake either Jsut cost them a sale and money or the new buyer got jacked up for a big repair right off the bat.
Its getting so hard to find beautiful homes that "flippers" havent destroyed. Plain white boring walls, white painted brick, etc. Inlove the 60s-80s style and becayse of house flippers almost every house near me is millenial white and gutted.
Not all renovators destroy properties. Some of us are actually conscientious about upgrading neighborhoods with productive and profitable properties. How'd you like that alliteration?
Please PLEASE stop painting every thing, specially bricks, white. It looks like trash and in a few years people will have to spend so much money restoring all the stuff "flippers" destroy. Preserve history is more important than "current trends" and I would throw half of.flippers in jail if I could.
I had my house built in 2007 and used a similar insulation made with wool and shredded Levi Jeans. It was tightly packed in the exterior walls and keeps the house warm in the Winter and cool in the summer. My electric bills is frequently lower than my friends. I highly recommend it for it's utility cost savings. it eventually pays for itself.
No pre construction load calcs? You seem to have no idea how heavy tile, cement board is...then add people...when you have no clue if the floor structure can handle it! Consultant architect and engineer spend years in school learning ...and did anyone even bother to check building codes? Permits? Have submit those to be checked to show your not setting some poor bastard up for a disaster!.... RU-vid hacks, dangerous, self centered hacks....
The hell are you prattling on about? This house was built with steel beams, cinder block, and over engineered wood joists. We placed plywood over the wood plank subfloor which sits on 2x10 joists spaced 24” on center. We did pull permits and pass inspection. What have you done besides annoy ppl with your user name… my evil plans. How about you plan on moving out of your mom’s basement.
And another flipper ruining the cabinets and making it look white and grey and ugly modern. That wood is still good. The floor could have been like the period. This is the problem with the flippers. I have built a couple homes with my husband and I have to stop getting these in my feed 😬
I'm trying to understand why you didn't waterproof over the cement board? The moisture barrier behind cement is extremely cheap and will only cause problems down the road. Durock does not even recommend this behind their cement board. They recommend using something like Kerdi or Redguard on top of the cement board. I thought your videos were interesting until I got to this one and realized you two are just a bunch of DIY house flipper hacks trying to make a quick buck by ripping people off with cheap construction.
We've answered this question dozens of times. This house was located in a very humid climate, and per the local codes we are not allowed to do double waterproofing (The vapor barrier, and another waterproofing such as kerdi, red guard, etc) This shower is located on an exterior wall, so a vapor barrier IS REQUIRED BY OUR LOCAL CODE!!!!! Sorry for getting frustrated but this question has been answered multiple times, and it IS frustrating when ignorant people insult us, because they are too lazy to do some research. Also it doesn't really matter what DUROCK recommends because they won't be the ones paying the fines for violating building code. So please don't assume to know our abilities, or our intentions for renovating these houses, and we won't assume someone who makes owning a cat their whole personality doesn't have friends.
I know your dollar is better but those prices are soooooo cheap compared to Canada. Had a new shower put in with delta faucets, two tiled walls and a mosaic sheet floor (already graded) - NO DOOR, just a walk-in. It was $9,500 😵
