Yes, that is a much better word. Thank you. When you film stuff "live" all kinds of things come out of your mouth lol. After every filming I see things I would change the next time, but I would never release a video if I kept on correcting myself lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@MyAb111 I understand that ... At least you have the smarts not to spend money you don't have. There is no shame in self control. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@thomasferry2950 OMG it ridiculous.... I paid retail, which is $595. But for years you couldn't find one of these. It seems like the knife market has finally cooled off, so I'm picking up the knifes I've been searching for for years
@@Weldandcarry you are producing a lot of videos so I'm sure that helps. I think it took me about a year to get 1,000 subscribers, and you should be there in under 4 months at the rate you are going
Yeah seriously! When you pay this price you sort of expect a little more. But as a knife, which is what I purchased (not a box) I like it now more than my first impression indicated.
Yeah I am now digging it after my first lackluster impression. First impressions / unboxings are just raw videos and aren't reviews. Thanks for watching and commenting.
If you type in "Grand Canyon of the East PA" in google this canyon will come up. But there is one in NY as well, like you stated. Thanks for commenting and watching the video.
Correcting my pronouncing would be a full-time job lol. Just joking. I remember doing 20 takes to get this video because I kept on stepping on my words or dates etc. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses lol
I decided to not try and get involved in another relationship right away and to focus myself on positive things, and serving has been really helpful. I have been volunteering at my church, building sets and watching the kids etc, as well as attending services. Just keeping busy and I came out of the BS months ago. But I am also busy, so just trying to keep up with everything is difficult. Thanks for the kind words
Forgiving is done for the injured, not for the offender. I forgive, but I'm done with them lol. Basically I let go of the feelings that go along with being betrayed so that I can return to normal and have a healthy outlook. My marriage ending was not an issue, the dealing with the lying and being treated poorly by someone that I was so good to took a while to process. I'll leave the judging up to some other power and for me I'm moving forward with forgiveness in my heart. I really appreciate your kind words, watching the video and commenting. It's all good brother
@@klong4uify This is a healthy thing to do. Just a reminder there is no obligation to yourself or God unless they come to you themself and confess - and even then it is not a 'forget it ever happened'. A "I forgive you" can go along with 'you are no longer in my life'. In the Christian sense we are taught to seek forgiveness of others in the same way Christ seeks ours, but a good man knows he can not be an equal in that field and the bitter will almost always use this against those they've wronged. "My marriage ending was not an issue, the dealing with the lying and being treated poorly by someone that I was so good to took a while to process" That pretty much sums it up lol
Thank you sir. I'm back to my old self. Took a break, but it was needed. I also returned to work, so I have income flowing in again lol. I still have enough knives then anyone could ever need, but I can see myself selectively getting new ones, like the Hinderer Eklipse Bowie I just picked up. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Amen. I'm not a light switch and I didn't go from feeling one way to feeling another way. But I have transitioned to a better place. I think it's unrealistic for people to recover from something within a day. I recovered a couple of months ago, but I took an additional couple months off to focus on myself. I've been camping and riding my motorcycle and exploring and kayaking and not producing videos and it's exactly what I needed. I filmed this video over a month ago but I'm just getting to posting it now. Thank you for watching and commenting and I appreciate the kind words.
@@klong4uify I get you are not a light switch. I have been through pretty much exactly what you have and just reflecting back I see years later I should have embraced the suck. Hopefully just a friendly word of wisdom and encouragement? That was my intention anyway. God bless!
@@frostbitevinnie I definitely appreciate your perspective and comments. I put the video out there and I expect people to have opinions. My cousin called me afterwards and wanted to know if I was ok and said I sounded sad. To me I sound reflective but I get why he said that. I really appreciated the concern ultimately. But I'm fine. I'm not happy that the marriage failed and I'm not happy how it went down, especially at the time my mother was dying, but this to shall pass. All things considered it's fine 😂 Part of the reason why I took a couple months off was because I was going to sell my house and downsize, so I did a good couple months of packing, painting, doing repairs and house shopping, so filming and editing videos was low on my priority list. Again, I didn't take your comment the wrong way and thanks for your comment and concern.
Glad to see/ hear from you. I have been through more than my share. My favorite line from Full Metal Jacket is. Life is a Shit Sandwich and we all need to take a bite . ( something like that). Stay well. C
In the grand scheme of things, everything is good. The betrayal was the hardest part of the whole thing, so I just needed to focus on positive things. My Mom passing was rough, but she wasn't doing well so she is no longer in pain, and realizing that helps.
I just happened to catch this video while i can post .RU-vid gives me timeouts for posting my views about the treasonous government and as of late the Secret Service in particular..🤬 ..my friend i have went through these same things ..mom and dad passing i doubt will never get over at heart. But it looks like you caught your stride and moving forward..awesome..stay frosty through November brother it's gonna be wild..godspeed.
Thanks for your comment! I am a survivor and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! I needed some time to reflect and just focus on myself. Sorry you went through your own BS but that's life. If we live long and hard enough, we are going to have these up and downs. I appreciate your support and comments though! Thanks again
Glad to see you putting out a video bro. Hard to beat that Hinderer quality. Might like a partial model better but I really enjoy em all. Sounds like you are doing well my friend 😎🤘🤘
Thank you Dave! I am in a much better spot. It's hard to pick a favorite knife. Which "partial" model do you like better? I also like them all (of the ones I own), but none of them suck. I don't own a Project X or a Jurassic or Full Track, but I haven't found them yet, so I really can't speak to the best out of all Hinderers. But of the ones I own, I like the Eklipse the best.
@@appalachianadvrider overall the 24’s are still my favorite because of the size. Project X is a really close 2 nd for me. Especially after I put studs on it
@@satudave OK - the 24 is on my list. I should have figured that since you love those really big knives. I saw one for sale, but I went with the Bowie knife because I had the scale already, it was cheaper and it's an exclusive.
You're really overblowing the differences between tips on the different grinds, and the flipper tabs even moreso. Im not even sure there is a difference in flipper tab geometry. Sure it can be uncomfortable if you press your finger directly into the corner of the tab, but why the hell would you do that?
This was an unboxing video and not a review, so I was just commenting on the tip and comparing their differences. Outside of the wharncliffe clip, the tip on all the grinds seems decent for harder use. I'm just showing people the differences, if any. I said in the video I am nit-picking the flipper tab on the XM-18, but there is definitely a difference. I have a double XL sized hand that's pretty wide, so for me I find the Eklipse is slightly more comfortable because the flipper tab doesn't flair towards my finger and poke it. If someone has smaller hands they might not even notice what I am talking about. But again, I am nit-picking, and said so in the video. And I was calling out the differences in the flipper action. The XM18 has a slightly pointy flipper tab - that's the truth. If you grab / flip it incorrectly, then it will poke your finger slightly. Is this a big deal? No, not to me, but I am calling it out. That's the whole point to doing these videos. I really appreciate you watching and commenting, and I enjoy these conversations. Thank you
Designed and manufactured by my man Les George! I should have been clearer. That is what happens when I just talk into a camera randomly lol. Thanks for the clarification for other viewers.
Cruwear is a great steel. I do a lot of outdoor stuff in water, so I tend to prefer stainless, but the edge retention on those carbon knives are better.
@@joshalmighty1901 I just love a sheepsfoot blade and Vanax Superclean steel ... This is a real practical blade for EDC tasks. I use it while camping all the time. Thanks for watching and commenting!
A wee bit late on this, but my two Striders from 2001, my SMF DDG Tanto came in a ziplock just like yours, but the MSC SMF XL Nightmare Grind Recurve came in an elegant padded cotton pouch. The SMF was $450 whilst the MSC was $800. Back then I had money to burn and I wanted a knife that was built like a tank. My SMF is my edc knife, still. I’m a carpenter/contractor, so I use it to open boxes, cut insulation at times, even use it to cut-open painted-shut windows and pry them open with the blade. Have not broken it yet. Not too many knives can make that claim. The G-10 is tough as nails. It’s been re-sharpened, God-knows-how many times and it’s S35V steel and heat-treated by Strider just after they took over that process from BOS. Strider builds knives, originally, for soldiers, EMT’s, police, firefighters. He was open about them not being “safe-queen” finished so it’s not unusual to see scuff marks, scratches, or even small dings on the handles. My SMF looked like it hit the factory floor a few times but it still works fine. He stands behind his lifetime warranty to the original owner. A friend of mine cracked his blade and they replaced it with no hassles other than a two week return time.
I started loving the knife after carrying it for a while. I don't do a ton of hard use stuff with my knives only because I'm not in a job that requires daily use of a knife, but you have a proven track record of this knife and I believe ya! Thanks for the comment.
If you get the fatty blade stock, the tip is robust. But these normal blade stock thicknesses are thin at the tip. It makes it a great slicer, but I wouldn't go buck wild on it.
I had this knife with the partial serrations. I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I lost it. I was absolutely torn when I lost it and bought a Microtech ultratech and a Microtech socom elite manual to replace it. Although I love both of my microtech’s, they couldn’t fill the void I now had missing my Freek. So as of 2 days ago, I finally ordered another partial serrated Freek. I can’t wait to get it back and make it my EDC once again! This knife holds an edge like no other and came super sharp. I did have to hit it with some blue Lube a few times and really work it but once I did that, any slight irritating issues it had was then gone. Hands down best knife I’ve ever had. That’s out of 6-7 microtech’s, 3 benchmade’s a few gerbers, a CRKT M16-14SFG and some cheap local store knives.
