I love vintage! I am almost done with a lineup of purely vintage figures. I have a number of playsets. I do my absolute best to keep everything vintage. However, who has intact foam for the Dagobah playset? Anyone? What work around do the purity spiralers have for that? Who has brand new vintage sticker sheets? I try to do the best I can. Some of this stuff just doesn't exist anymore. Furthermore, repro capes, lightsabers, and weapons are wonderful ways to rehabilitate second line figures. Like most collectors, I have a few multiples. Including my originals. Which witnessed the school yard! You can bring those older, beat-up figures back to life with repro stuff. Make them serviceable in another diorama! For an economy price. Stan Solo, Next 17, Zac Paris, Trash Compactor are all awesome! If you don't like them, don't buy them. These new figures, stickers and accessories breathe new life into my collection. I retreat to my Star Wars collection because the modern world is crazy. I don't need the crazy world in my Star Wars.
One of the cooler aspects for me from Star Wars was that whole "Local Colour" thing on Tatooine...the Cantina especially...Jawas, Sandmen too...between the original Kenner run, Stan Solo, and others, surely we have the whole peanut gallery to make a proper Cantina scene!!! Add some Sand-Stormies with those coloured pauldrons you can get for them from Etsy..and you got yourself a great diorama!!
Wilro Hood with his ice cream maker (as we called it when I was a kid) is very cool! So neat that it's completely made from scratch. Impressive! So are the Cantina aliens and furniture! It's amazing what they can do with 3D printers now. Great paint jobs on them. You're gonna need another Cantina playset. :) The droids for the Jawa set are fantastic too! I've always loved all the imaginative droids in the movies and have wondered why Kenner or Hasbro didn't make all of them. So cool!

Great looking figures as always. That "bat"-figure was amazing! And his mate, the one who scratch his toung, was so qute 😄 Now, thanks to your videos, and the inspiration to watch all these figures, I have finally become brave enough to dare to make me some custom figures of my own. Admittedly no so advanced ones, but: Biker Scout without a helmet, Hoth Han without a hood, Han Solo Stormtrooper, Lando from the end scene in ESB. I had made my own Last 17 Lando, until I got hold of the real one. Now I'm thinking of making a Biggs figure instead 😄

Coming in 🔥 right off the bat with Willrow Hood!! Love it. Kabe & Muffy look awesome too. Super high quality & excellent paint. Old 4-arms turned out great as well. I still can't believe Kenner never put out an Ewok Village/Endor Leia nor a white outfit Bespin Leia. These rock! Really sweet accessories too. Too bad the 5-POAs can't bend there knees. 😅. And your very own droid factory 💥. This video was "Christmas in September" for sure. What a nice haul. Super generous. More great customs for the displays!!
I have now my own Star Wars action fleet Sandcrawler from Galoob micro machines. Also nice detaild. Because i have no place for the Kenner Sandcrawler.
3D print is much more fragile than Kenner figures. The arms and legs are not sonic welded or constructed in the same manner as og figures. You have to be extremely careful NOT to drop 3d figs. Not sure if they will ever "melt down" as I haven't had any single 3d figure for over a year yet. Only time will tell but if I had to make an educated guess, I'd say the 3D figs wont get all gooey ever like 40 year plastic.
The 3D printed figures are pretty hard resin. Fragile, but they wont melt. They’re not as durable as plastic that bends and gives. They’re rather rigid but fit in well.

Yeah the premiere had glitches which was RU-vid's fault not mine. My video upload was perfect. If you re-watch the video now, it plays fine. It was just janky for the premiere. Sorry about that!
Great video. These aliens and droids were a lot of fun to make. The two Leias and Willrow are always a little tricky with the eyes. Glad to add to your collection. Have a great weekend.
I just made one of these with a one armed Endor Luke I got cheap off eBay and swapped the Head and arm of an old Jedi Luke, the swapped arm is slightly different but I am very happy with it, it is 100% vintage. This figure would have been a money maker for Kenner as no extra moulds would have been needed.
Thank the Maker that your glass cabinets didn't break! That would have been terrible. It'll be a pain in the neck to have to set everything back up but at least nothing is broken. That Chewie looks interesting! Is he a custom figure? The bowcaster is certainly different. Some of their new positions are pretty funny! I have felt a few tremors here in Las Vegas, but just enough to make a ceiling light sway a bit. I agree, figure stands are a great idea. I especially like the wide, round disc bases. There are some that are sold by some really great fellow collectors out there. Glad nothing broke. You must have done a great job putting those shelves together.
Awesome! That's a beautiful case! Amazing condition for a vinyl case. My childhood one just like that fell apart many years ago. I saved the awesome lid insert art from it and it is now hanging on my wall above my collection shelf. Too bad it is missing the trays, but it's still a great find. The AT-AT is a huge find too! Mine is one of the crown jewels of my collection. Still has all of his stickers and chin guns. The mechanism inside still works perfectly. Amazing considering that I played with it outside in the winter many times. I'm very glad that you got such a nice one. The AT-AT is one of those vehicles that has some great stickers but can look fantastic without them. I hope your new one has working mechanisms. Certainly looks great standing there. Some of the figures look pretty good. Weird that a couple are missing feet. Maybe his dog chewed on them. :) Great that you got them local and didn't have to order them and then pray the postal system doesn't lose or ruin it. You're right! The hunt is totally worth it even if you have to drive a bit to get it. This lot is a big win.
Super cool that your childhood ATAT still works! That's amazing. I haven't been able to get this one to turn over but I'll keep trying. Either way, I don't actually play with any of this stuff, so if the electronics no longer work, I don't really mind. That's not a deal breaker for me as this collection is just for display purposes. I also don't buy anything that I don't see in person. Too many jokers out there and scam artists.
@@GQJedi Yes, I'm really glad that it does. Now and then, I put batteries in it and fire it up just for fun. I like looking at my collection for the artwork of it and the memories, but sometimes, it's fun to mess around with it. I wouldn't drag it outside now, because it's getting to be pretty old as far as toys go, but playing with it in snow drifts in front of our house was a lot of fun back in the day. A while back, I was talking with a friend about our collections and he asked if I had any figurines like those from Diamond Select for example. I said I liked the look of them in stores, but I preferred the action figures because I enjoy occasionally rearranging them and posing them in different ways with different accessories. Can't do that with statues. I don't blame you for preferring to buy in person. I try to and I'm lucky to have several hobby and toy stores here in Las Vegas, but sometimes, I can't find what I want in person, especially not at the budget I try to stick to, so I wind up buying online. I try to stick with buying on Ebay or trusted sellers on FB groups who will let me return things.
Go to the Stan Solo website (google it) and you will see exactly what he makes and sells. All questions for Stan Solo should be directed there for specific answers. I'm just a collector.
Is there other types of recreations out there of other star wars things as good as this? I am new to this whole thing. I'm going to grab one of these when i can.
My suggestion to you would be to search on your own and join some Star Wars Facebook groups. You will learn a lot. Many questions are answered daily in groups by members.
I wish I would have gotten some of the playsets as a kid, but never did. I made my own back then out of styrofoam and other stuff. I'm possibly going to get one of this playset that seems complete according to the pictures except it is missing the Probot. It depends on how the auction goes. Most Kenner playsets go for crazy money today, even if they aren't 100% complete, so I'm glad to see that this one is still fairly reasonable on the sales posts. I've been looking at them for quite a while and finally found one that isn't yellowed or missing any stickers or parts to the turret or base, so I'm taking a shot at it. If I get it, it'll look fantastic next to my childhood AT-AT. I might not have gotten any playsets, but I did get the AT-AT and Millennium Falcon which are sort of vehicles and playsets combined, so I was lucky in that respect as a kid. Very good review of this playset! If I win the auction and the playset arrives, I'll let you know how it turned out.
Kenner made tons of playsets. Some are cooler than others. No doubt about it. I like this playset because it's simple yet effective. Good luck on your auction!
I always thought it strange that SS would reproduce the Stormtrooper figure. Why? There are thousands upon thousands of them in the market from the original Kenner run. He should've instead done the Death Squad/ Star Destroyer Commander in the proper black uniform, or an Imperial Officer in the green/gray uniform.
I wish I could say that I give none of my money to hasbro/disney anymore, but unfortunately that's not reality. It's certainly profoundly less than what it used to be at least. As far as comparing this to the official one, that one is objectively better; but if I wasn't a fool and ended up selling 70% of my vintage figures years ago (including Jabba), I'd _totally_ go with this one over the hasbro version for a vintage setup. It's definitely more in line for the OG figures, just like how the hasbro one is more in line with a modern/more realistic display.
@@GQJedi It is totally like what Kenner would've given us back in the '80s. And I'm sure that guy or someone out there has made a 3D printed carbonite wall piece. The last thing you'd need (other than the Kenner Jabba's dungeon) with having a decked out Jabba dio. But even if you don't get those other parts, this is still *_highly_* satisfying and enough. Congrats on not being a dummy like me and selling most of your vintage stuff.
I'm fairly happy with my Jabba setup. Pieces can always be added but should nothing else ever hit this shelf, I'm good. Sorry to hear about your collection. Never too late to pick it back up.
They will ALWAYS be worth a decent bit....The nostalgia and dwindling numbers of good condition figures show that they will go up and down but ALWAYS up over time if you choose the right ones or collect the right ones together. Plus on card theyre still worth just as much now as they were in the 90s new for the POTF2 line while the POTF 1985 line has gone WILD on price....many POTF2 are worth more than they cost new even after inflation, and some variants are worth 10-100x
As someone who also holds my vintage Kenner Star Wars collection near and dear, I'm relieved for you that the earthquake merely toppled over various figures, but there was no permanent damage and amazingly, no damage to your glass display cases either. Whew!
great way to make money to advance the collection tbh...ive scored a couple rare POTF2 star wars figures and even at a 80 to grade i have made enough money on just those 3 figures to buy a couple 30+ figure lots on ebay(trying to collect all the base figures, then specialize/get variants from there) I never got "it" either till i found the right things to keep my eye out for to make it make sense
The spaceman is nice, but it's the other two that really got me going. These might be two of my favorite customs yet. The ewok is really cool, but that biker scout is out of this world. Love it! 🥰 Keepers keeps on killin' it!
Hi. I love to see your collection, and the dioramas you do. May I ask you a strange question..? I recently bought me a Tauntaun, but he came with no saddle, so now I am planning to do my own. I just like to know if you know the measurements from the end of one of the strap that goes under his belly to the end of the other strap that goes under his belly 🙂
Thank you so much! I honestly don't know the exact measurements and the saddles are delicate, so I don't take them on and off. Apologies I don't have exact measurements for you.
You had me at "chin guns"! Hahaha. As Han would say, "Never tell me the odds". Despite the rather common figures, this is a fantastic pickup nonetheless & even better that there were a couple upgrades for you too. Always love seeing your local pickups, you're right on it every time. Sounds like the deal was a good one, you definitely got lucky. Another fun video & great local find.
