Hi buddy, great to hear that you like the content, much appreciated 👏🏻 Depends on the state of the bike, but in general you can get a long way by doing a good clean and the consumables like you've mentioned 👍🏼👌🏼 You can always go further/deeper when necessary

Lots of obsolete touring bikes out there await chopping and the prices are right. While under-powered the old Airheads are simple and reliable so turning them into a coffee shop ride folk art piece is better than scrapping them. If you DIY nothing on that bike is expensive and parts are easy thanks to Ebay. Touring bike riders are like RV owners, if it's not the latest most loaded machine it goes cheap so take advantage.

giving lots of inspiration for a k1200rs project I may begin- been sitting for a long time- trying to decide between major overhaul/refresh similar to this, or just refresh fluids filters and see if it works. But probably Worth the effort to give it a full new life i would bet- but a huge endeavor. Any Manuals recommended? Clutch centering tool?

Thanks man 👍🏼 I just shorten it, but did put back the original end plate like seen in the video. That helped quieting it a bit. Have to say, the TÜV sucks 😁
Can't wait to start on my k100. Videos like this make my bank account get goose bumps though. Is there a reason why so many cafe racers go for 'scrambler tires'? It kind of fights in my mind. Either complete the slick cafe racer look with some clean rubber or go bold with a tough scrambler look. The tires kind of hurt the complete look in my eyes.
I think that caferacer or scrambler is just an term that can be used for multiple build types. Also the vision of the builder can be different from one to another
All air head BMWs are easy to rebuild and repair. I put over 200.000 on my R80/7. The Man I sold it to is still riding it without rebuild. He only had to replace the diode board.
They sure are a joy to work with. Love the simplicity of these engines and the classic look that they have. With proper maintenance they sure can come far 💪🏼👍🏼

Hi mate, awesome work. I know this video is from way back. I can't find any info on BMW K-Series regulator rectifier chargers for changing to lithium battery. I have a K75 1986, just bought an antigravity ATZ10-AH restart battery. No clue if I also need a reg/rec? If anyone knows?
