The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is an institution for the advanced study of Islam and the Muslim world. It operates under a Royal Charter, with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales as its Patron.

The Centre promotes, through learning and scholarship, a better understanding of the culture and civilization of Islam and contemporary Muslim societies. It is committed to advancing dialogue and cooperation within the global academic community.

As part of an inclusive, multi-disciplinary approach in its academic activities, the Centre offers visiting fellowships to scholars from around the world, and scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate students to read for degrees at Oxford University. It organises regular lectures, seminars and conferences on topics relating to the Muslim world.

Since the Centre’s foundation in 1985, many leading figures have visited to deliver lectures. The RU-vid channel features archival recordings of previous distinguished speakers.
