I came here bc ... Somehow I saw an interview with Kelly Hogan about crambs. Someone I dont follow at all. Women that seapks to loudly dont attract my attention. I love the way you shared your knowledge. Thank you Amber. Keep doing your great work.
Sad to see so many long-term carnivores who, after initial weight loss, wrecked their metabolism, and will never get lean again. Carnivore benefits exist - but sadly not good long term for most.
Raw began is the healthiest human diet. Hands down; health claims aren't falsified. At least not the ones I've been exposed to; not most of them. P1: murder is wrong; and killing other beings with no need is murder p3 humans don't need flesh to be physically & mentally healthy C: meat eating is usually murder. Your free will to eat a caveman diet our species took to to SURVIVE Is imposing upon other sentient beings; you're not protecting or being a custodian of life and abundance, but a predatory parasitic harbinger of death. Selfish. Narcissistic. Psychopathic. This dude is the epitome of all carnivore types: no empathy, no emotional intelligence, tons of denial and mental gymnastics & pompous eloquence to overcompensate for lack of ability to see our species-specific diet and to witness his own frailty and emotional pain.
Mocking, arrogance: this guy is a TEXTBOOK narcissistic carntard. Thinks he so intelligent, can't even see the structure of our body and the kind of consciousness YOU LOT have vs omnivore, vegans , especially raw frugivore vegans. "Aberration " - no it's our species-specific diet! It's possible not down to delusion, but down to instinct. You lot pick up tools, and buy scavenged flesh in vac packs, and use knives and sterile boards, fridges- so so detached from nature of a true scavenger, or predator I can tell this is gonna be full of utter cringe. I'm only 3 minutes in
Vegan and feel excellent for 20 years lots of vegetables lentils and chickpeas berries but few simple carbs like white rice only brown simple carbs do create liw energy ectt
Thank you for this video, I have watched a few others you were interviewed in. I would like to know if you have any input regarding lipedema. I’m on carnivore , have fibromyalgia, lipedema , and few other health issues including diabetes which levels are improving. 3 months now no weight loss , also increased fat intake. …
I wonder if O'Hearn has ever discussed deuterium depleted water. Anyway, about the topic of the video, I'd note two examples. Mary Ruddick observed the Hadza drank little water, around a cup a day, and they will go out on persistent hunts won't carry or stop for water. According to historical accounts, the Apache could outpace the US cavalry while on foot and carrying no water or food, while passing through hot dry regions.
I like these deep dives. One I'd love to see Amber investigate: the reasoning behind the croissant diet... that in Fall, animals switch to eating unsaturated fats, which shut down metabolism and make them fat, and in Spring, they eat Stearic acid rich fats, which flip the switch back on for leanness.
The amount of water produced should be limited by the body's energy demands, which go down while fasting. If it burned 6 times more fat, then the body temperature should increase significantly as if the subject was on dinitrophenol. If a human needs roughly one packet of butter, or one mole of palmitic acid, then he'll only get about 280 g of water.
There's a reason why dry fasting day 3 and up is characterized by the 'Dry Fasting Heat' and spiritually is described as fueling your chakra, so yes, the body gets surplus energy from the sky rocketing fat oxidation.
If high salt induces a catabolic state along with high cortisol, doesn't that suggest it isn't a good idea to consume that much salt? Very interesting video and look forward to more.
Thank you this is interesting and useful as I am exploring the options for introducing children to fatty meat and to reduce their intake of fibre, vegetables and fruit. Children that are already excluding many ingredients due to casein, lactose, fructose and gluten intolerance.
Thank you, Amber! I live in the Denver area (it's dry!)... even if you have to hydrate more than these study subjects, I expect the physio-logic still applies... bodies adjust and conserve more electrolytes. The trouble is, getting low on electrolytes feels awful. I'm always tossing Na, P, & Mg in my water, with some lemon. It's mostly a matter of comfort, but it's nice to see studies suggesting we adapt. Otherwise you wonder about the validity of keto as a valid diet.
Boulder here. 😊 Yes, I'm not opposed to doing what feels best regardless of theory! And as you say, it's hard to argue that a ketogenic state is normal for humans in one breath and say that ketogenic diets require a constant supply of salt in the next. Salt mining is a neolithic endeavor.
@@l.amberohearn450 2 things just for further puzzlement: 1. does anyone know the concentrations of Na, K, & Mg in elephant meat? Hippo? other things we evolved on? 2. I seem to wake with a less full bladder when I drink electrolyte water vs plain. What might that mean (it's a plus... I hate waking up in pain ;)?
Thanks for this, Amber. I looked up the natural sodium levels of meat, chicken, eggs, etc. and was surprised that our sodium needs are easily covered by the meat/chicken itself. I add a little to taste, but like keeping it fairly low to moderate. Even Owsley Stanley who never added salt to his food loved his cheese which contains plenty of salt. To each their own. ✌
Bizarrely I needed to have a higher salt intake on SAD, and if I eat a lot of carbohydrates the level of sodium in my blood drops (along with potassium actually). I've even ended up in the ER as a result of this before. Any idea why I'd have this happen, since normally it's the opposite? I've found any form of low carb (carnivore included) it's just really much easier to maintain safe blood levels of sodium and potassium.
The longevity of persons in Blue Zones might only be because they are in coastal regions with ample access to high iodine foods (seafoods) to meet the increased need due to increased carbohydrate consumption.
The medical community really is an absurd, tunnel vision cult. Skin issues often get an "elimination diet" recommendation... but no doctors recommend such diets for much of anything else. Why? Why, when such diet experiments are free?
psychosis was rare because they had no idea what it was 100 and 200 years ago. It was there in the indigenous people they were just called the village idiot. I bet there was no Autism either. But there was. It was just not diagnosed. Very misleading right off the bat. You state there was more mental illness or psychosis later in our history. No. We as a people were able to diagnose it.
i want to know what exactly is responsible for mental stress and mental health disorders. mine were most likely from either hershey special dark chocolate, peanut butter, almond butter, or sugar free rice cakes. BUT WHICH IS IT????
## 1:00 Membrane permeability - Most important structure is the tight junction, which responds to various food. They are highly functionally dynamic. ## 3:00 Link between disease and membrane permeability - association
## 2:00 Lectins 9 children ate soaked but unboiled kidney beans : all of them got diarrhea & vomiting, even one who ate only 4. Kills rats in other studies. >100 plant sources of lectin Bind to carbohydrate moiety, so bind to our cells Lectins are resistant to cooking. You need to soak them too. Resistant to our digestive enzymes. Lot of lectins provide no nutritional value. Lectins can bind to the intestinal membrane which has a carbohydrate component, and damage it, causing leaky gut. 7:00 Study chart : amount of peanut lectin within their blood after peanut intake Then lectins can bind to cells in different organs. We select plants for their resistance to pesticide, and that resistance comes from lectins. 8:35 lectins stimulates the insulin receptor. Insuline : hormone stimulating fat storage. 9:09 Chart Insuline vs Insuline + Lectins vs Lectin effects on quantity of glucose converted to lipids 9:45 lectin also impacts leptin Leptin : hormone essential in regulating appetite, satiety and energy balance. Mice loose weight under lectin-free diet. 10:45 Lectins cause Reflux Reflux : stomach acid ascending up the oesophagus Lectins can stimulate Histamine, and this leads to acid production in the stomach. 12:45 Parkinson Disease Lectins can travel along the vagus nerve up to the neurons in the brain. 13:56 Study chart : by cutting the vagus nerve, the risk of developing Parkinson's dropped by 47%. ## 14:33 autoimmune disease - The body attacks its own tissues. - Antibodies have receptors that bind to healthy cells, which leads to destruction of healthy tissues - leaky gut is a key contributor to autoimmune disease - 80% of protein in wheat is gluten 17:14 graph of the intestinal barrier blue : not exposed to gluten red : exposed to gluten up : non-celiac cells down : celiac cells 18:40 Gluten in the system 23:15 chart showing keto diet increase the proportion of anti-inflammatory lipopolysaccharides. 23:38 Studies on Diabetes - chart of maternal gluten intake & type 1 diabeties in offspring - remission of diabetes with gluten-free diet - Diabetes is mainly auto-immune 27:45 Inflammatory Bowel Disease increases the risks of 23 other conditions. ## 27:00 Leaky Guts 27:55 factors increasing intestinal permeability : - Alcohol - 29:00 emulsifyers - 31:00 polyethylene glycol - 32:45 pesticides -> loss of tight junctions - small particles (PM10) - Plastic (BPA replaced by BPS which hasn't been tested but probably same effect) 35:40 factors decreasing intestinal permeability : - fat improves the function of the mucus layer (>10x) - 36:10 glutamane : main fuel source of the intestinal cells. - lectins + sugar/glutamane (will serve as a decoy) - phosphatidylcholine - bacteria like lactobacillus plantarum 41:14 Dairy A1 and A2 protein - A1 lead to the formation of a peptide, BCM7, which has the ability to bind to opiate receptors in the brain and cause intestinal inflammation. - Studies comparing A1 and A2 milks : elimination of A1 leads to reduction in systemic inflammation and improvements in cognitive performance 44:00 Study where participants cut out all lectins, 11/14 experienced remission of inflammation within 6 weeks.
## 5:45 Triglycerides in keto typically you have a drop in trig and an increase in HDL Chol. Ten days into carnivore his trig was peaking above anything he's ever seen (228 vs <100) Can be coffee, or lack of fasting. After 8 hours : same level (other days : any level) After 12 hours : 99 (other days : <100) ## 11:20 Proteins ### 17:30 Amino Acids & DNA - DNA is constantly getting unzipped, then process of transcription : - messenger RNA (blueprints) get made, escape the nucleus and bind with the ribozome (3D printer). Then come the transfer RNA. Each of them has a key that perfectly match the messenger RNA, and dislodges the one amino acid they have on the other side of the ribosome. Amino acids form a polypeptide chain, then protein folding happens.
## 4:50 Grapefruits compete for liver enzyme which break down drugs ## 6:00 Factors of Bioindividuality ## 7:00 We are biologically similar to the creatures the plants evolved their defenses against ## 7:20 Plants make inhibitors to digestive enzymes ## 8:45 Wheat inhibitors trigger immune response & drive intestinal inflammation ## 10:30 Plants attacking the guts Those plants are older than mammals. Ex : - Red Kidney Beans - Wheat Germ Agglutinin : damages the guts of rats (1993 study) + human gut epithelial cells + cause inflammation in humans - P450 liver enzymes ## 18:30 Oxalates ## 24:00 Hormone disruptors Isoflavones - causing sterility issues in sheeps - in soy : excellent fungicide - some physicians recommended soy to menopausal women - Soy causes reduction in sperm quality in men and cause changes in sex hormone ratios
5:00 there are 0 RCT on human nutrition 6:00 we don't know anything about the microbiome 9:00 Hong Kong : 1 pound meat/day : high life expectancy, high IQ
I was raised a strict vegan and remained a fairly strict vegetarian aftee leaving home and then in my mid 20s started eating meat, in particular high quality beef and some chicken. It really improved my physical health, id suffered from painful exhausting heavy periods my entire life - like magic my period became a mild monthly event that no longer majorly disrupted my life. My mental health improved and monthly blues and dark thoughts became far less frequent, i felt happier and more balanced mentally. Obviously vegetables are fantastic blah blah blah but meat is nutritionally really special.
I’m not a carnivore by I like Dr. Baker. Seems humble and has a great sense of humour. As an aside I really wish a different title was chosen for this video as Dr. Baker never said this in the clip (unless he’s said it elsewhere and I’m unaware of it?) The plural of anecdote is definitely not data 😂
Miki Ben Dor is wrong about evolution. Evolution is a teaching of Satan. Miki Ben Dor as a professor at an Israeli University should know far better than to promote these false teachings. The Bible does not forbid the eating of meat, but it does record that humans were first given fruit for food. Afterwards, we were given grains. And then after the flood, God gave Noah meat and told him He would give them everything like He gave him green herbs. There is no doubt that some people need to avoid or limit certain foods even if God gave them to us. For example, God gave us peanuts, soy, and milk, but some people are allergic to them. Allergies and food sensitivities are a consequence of our fallen world. Evolution was made up with dubious evidence and fallacies. All we need to look at are the prophesies of the Bible, and that they have all been fulfilled in the past, and archaeology confirms this. This is why archaeology is called a friend of the Bible. And in the future, the end time prophesies will be fulfilled whether they occur in our lifetime or not. Jesus is God and He will judge everyone in the end. Some will go to hell for eternity and some will go to heaven for eternity. Will you choose your flesh, or will you choose Jesus?
Egg yolk lecithin is fine for those who are not sensitive to eggs due do disrupted gut barrier. In that case, sunflower lecithin is a good alternative.
Regarding cramps, for myself they seem to become more noticable with a higher fat/protein mass ratio. Below 1.8/1, I do not experience cramps. Around 2/1 they are noticable but more salt seems to help. 2.2/1 or higher, cramps become very noticable and I've not managed (or tried) to eat obsurd amounts of salt to keep them at bay at that ratio. It is mostly a problem while lying in bed or being in awkward positions sitting down or crouching to work in tight spaces, of which I seem to do quite a lot. I had rarely experienced cramps in the past, prior to keto/carnivore, but only for short periods with months or years between.
