At 100 Mile Drive, I'm on a mission to redefine the way you approach test driving. Through my dynamic drive reviews, I stress the importance of spending quality time behind the wheel before committing to a purchase. I advocate for a thorough test drive experience, encouraging viewers to rent a car for a minimum of 24 hours and cover at least 100 miles across various terrains - from bustling city streets to open highways and winding country roads.

Why do I emphasize this approach? Because I firmly believe that the true essence of a car can only be felt through extended, diverse driving experiences. It's not just about ticking boxes or analyzing specs - it's about answering the fundamental question: "How does it feel to drive?"

If you're eager to discover the most effective strategies for test driving cars and gain the confidence to make informed purchasing decisions, then I invite you to hit the SUBSCRIBE button and embark on this thrilling journey with me.

Great honest review. I just bought one of these and like it very much. Great engine power comfort and very acceptable handling. Mine has Michelin pilot sport 4 suv tyres and they are very sticky. Just sold my LC 500 and of course the RX cannot compare in the handling department, but I didn’t expect it to. Also have had an X5 and I didn’t think it was particularly dynamic and certainly not as comfortable as the RX. If you want performance and handling buy a sports car.

Thanks for your comment! The RX 500h definitely exceeded my expectations-it's a fantastic vehicle. Your insight aligns with my exploration so far. I've been searching for a crossover that combines the qualities of an SUV and a sports car. This led me to the BMW X3 M40i, but now I'm realizing I need more comfort. As you mentioned, the BMW X5 wasn't dynamic enough for me as well. My next option to explore is the Porsche Cayenne. However, I'm starting to think that the best approach might be to have a separate comfy SUV and a dedicated sports car, using each for what they are meant for.

Unfortunately, prices for new cars have skyrocketed. If you're looking for the best RX in the segment, the RX500h is the top choice, though it can cost up to $80K. I never imagined someone would pay this much for a Lexus RX. In my opinion, the RX350h is more about maximizing fuel efficiency in a larger vehicle rather than focusing on acceleration. Ideally, you should be getting RX450h a plug-in hybrid to provide a decent sense of power.

Why reviewers keep saying Lexus owners don't care about getup and go, handling and road feel as if we are amateurs drives with no appreciation for a good car . A great review all but for zero discussion of the crash worthiness of the vehicle. These have still not been independently crash tested and Tesla's in house results from their testing have not been published. And if you refer to the recent article in Elektrek, following a significant frontal collision, you'll see why. This vehicle has virtually no crumple zone. Tesla has nurtured a well deserved reputation for occupant protection, one which they have boasted of, and now this? Why aren't reviewers bringing this to the market's attention? The absence of a progressive crumple zone in a modern vehicle is a major design flaw and one with deadly implications.
@100miledrive
@100miledrive 7 часов назад
Thanks for the input. In my videos I focus on driving dynamics, more specifically on "How does a car feel to drive" by doing more extensive test drive versus what most people would do is 5 minute test drive around dealership block. As for the crumple zone Tesla basically says it exists but in more unconventional way where the under body of the front is designed to break apart redirecting energy away from the occupants. To me also looks like a grey area until it's properly crash tested and confirmed.

I think no SUV Coupé should have running boards. Not a fan of those on the GLE. Items the X6 has that I would want on my GLE are the 4 piston mono block front calipers, Digital Key/key card and an option for a high end audio system. BMW has the Diamond Bowers & Wilkins with 20 speakers (1,475 watts) option and Mercedes only has the base Burmester (13 speakers & 590 watts) on all GLEs and AMG GLE…. I prefer the gauge cluster in the GLE. The gauges in the X6 are too “video game-ish” for my taste.

Thanks for your comment. Yes it's funny how both GLE and X6 have good things to offer but can't be 100% happy with either one. I really like driving dynamics of BMW over GLE, but then GLE 's luxury experience was more elevated for me. Looking at new 2025 BMW X3 that was just announced, I think X5 and X6 will have a major makeover in another 2 years I guess, but I am not 100% sure if I like where BMWs are going with their new design language.

I think both the Mercedes and bmw suv coupes are very nice it’s a matter of preference but for some folks i read on this thread to call the bmw x6 trash is very biased. It is far from trash. I personally think the steering wheel in the Mercedes is super ugly the dash is underwhelming for the price it was just Lackluster to me And cliche. I see a nice suv but I don’t see 130k. I have had my 2024 bmw for about a month and my 2022 lexus rc350 coupe that I love dearly has been parked. I absolutely love my x6. It’s so clean and modern along with luxury. That’s my style I have the same color and interior as on your video and I have every option they had to offer down to massaging seats. The seats are super comfortable and It’s just a smooth ride even with 22 inch rims. I was afraid of that. I love it. To me the Mercedes looks very nice as well but it seems more of vintage old school luxury and x6 seems more of a raunchy muscular feel. It’s a sporty suv just like he said so it’s equally nice in its own way. I love the m sport exhaust. The car is a head turner period. People who aren’t techy are not going to like not having the usual buttons but to me, I love the tech. That was a big part of the reason I bought it. The infotainment. Now cars with too many buttons look dated to me. The ambient lighting is amazing I also have the sky lounge LED panoramic sunroof which lights up as well and looks sooo cool. I don’t have a need for speed in Atlanta however so the tech and styling influenced my choice. A younger driver will possibly like the bmw. That metallic Brooklyn grey was love at first sight. I added the red brake calipers it’s just a beautiful suv and top luxury. You get the best Of both worlds in my book and I will have it for years to come. To the naysayers put it in sports plus mode and ride. You’ll love it

@100miledrive 8 дней назад
Thanks for the feedback and really giving all the details. I completely agree on the part of a preference. This argument of which is better BMW or Mercedes I think will never end. I am glad you like X6. I mean for many folks BMW will win just because of driving dynamics, but then there is another group of people who care less about driving dynamics and want what Mercedes has to offer and that is very flashy (night club) interior, cool exhaust notes and comfy Air suspension.

Thanks for stopping by. X3 30i with M Sport is essentially the same car as non M Sport. I don't see anything different in the suspension. Based on BMW USA info this is what M Sport offers in X3 30i: Shadowline exterior trim 19" M Y-spoke Bi-color Midnight Grey Wheels Roof rails in High-gloss Shadowline The biggest notice in general between X3 30i and X3 m40i will be engine response, engine notes and firmer suspension on X3 M40i. Also steering feels heavier in X3 m40i. X3 30i M Sport vs non M Sport is all about appearance package. If I were to get X3 30i I would for sure opt for M Sport as it looks much nicer. Also don't forget new 2024 X3 has just been announced, you can review that as well.

@100miledrive
@100miledrive 11 дней назад
Hi there. Sure, thanks for the feedback. Well Tesla kind of targeted BMW when they were designing Model 3 and Y. I think they succeeded pretty well with Model 3, not sure so much about Model Y in terms of the premium feel and driving dynamics. The biggest thing with this switch would be an EV experience which some people love from day 1 and for many it takes time to adjust and some absolutely hate it. Dynamically BMW X3 to me feels more premium in terms of a drive feel, but from cost perspective you can't beat Model Y. Overall Model Y is a very solid car except for few minor things like sound insulation. My best advise would be to rent it for at least 2-3 days and try to live with the car. Drive around the city, go to your favorite grocery store, drive on your highways, literally try to mimic your daily life - you will have most of your questions answered there. The worst thing you want is to make a switch and 2 days later regret it or if your spouse will not be happy with it. I have been there and that is the reason I started my channel to basically say - rent before you buy. Also be very open minded, like don't have a mindset that you want Tesla to work, just be open to see the goods and the bads, because if you only see the goods, the bads will come few weeks/months later when you have to face them. I think if you want to get into EV experience and test driving Model Y confirms you are ready - then you can make the switch and feel right about it. Hope this helps.

thanks for sharing. I recently made a newer video on run-flat tires, where basically I stated that as long as run-flats don't impact driving experience they are fine. But in my case run-flat tires created a jittery ride especially for passengers and it could not be tolerated. Since you brought up Mercedes, their higher lines like GLE AMG also use regular tires. Brands like Porsche do not use run-flats at all in any of their vehicles. BMW does not use run-flats on all EVs. So it really depends.

you think so :) I am actually OK with i3. I really like that it is all carbon fiber and quite unique approach, but yes the looks are also controversial.

Hmm. Thanks for sharing. Electric cars certainly lack some of the aspects that gas cars have which make them very exciting, but they do have their own space, espectially for commuting
