Father daughter duo searching for hidden treasure! We like nothing better than seeking out fascinating finds in the thick gloopy mud. We both have a background in adventure sports, so whilst we might not always have the history knowledge, we certainly get stuck in and have a lot of fun along the way. That case to me looks like a "calling card " case that people used when they visited someone that wasn't home ... they'd leave a card with their name on it.
...fine steel wool might surprisingly clean up the rest of the barnacle's residue from the bottles, try on a broken bot first... good luck, and many thanks for the awesome vids... Joe
Great finds once again! That green poison was amazing! If you're up for an engineering experiment, I've seen local rockhounds here come up with a homemade tool to increase visibility in creeks and rivers. They take a small bucket (like a 2 gal baker's bucket), cut out and discard the bottom, and replace the bottom with a clear plastic like plexiglas or lexan. They epoxy it up so it's completely watertight again. When the new bottom is submerged just below the surface, you can see a lot more clearly because you've bypassed all the surface refraction. It may not be perfect with this much silt, but it's probably still a big improvement.
You really do bring the mud into mudlarking. Great finds under very difficult visibility, but on a plus no dripping noses. 😁 I’d leave the Harrods, you could always cut it if/when you find another one. Love all your videos but the creek is my particular favourite location.
Hello 👋 from New York USA, that NOT TO BE TAKEN bottle was an amazing find. Thank you for bringing me along with you guys. I can't wait to see where you go and what you find next 😊
When you think some would take themselves off to the countryside or the seaside for health reasons. The air pollution back then within towns and cities must have been so bad!
I worked on the mudflats for many years collecting shellfish, sacks of them. I found many items, ink wells, cod bottles, stoneware, an array of Differant bottles, clay pipes. I have the first pipe ever made ! I took it to the local museum and they authenticated it, tiny bowl as tobacco was very expensive when it first came here. I found the pipe in Southampton waters.
Josie is as strong as the Terminator. I worked building houses for 20 years and digging is the hardest thing to do. You guys are unbelievable. Especially now that I am disabled
What a FUN lark! Tough conditions but you & Andy prevailed. 2 great codds and a fairly rare applied lip poison. I thought Andy was going down for a second. Was waiting for the repeat. Still laugh every time I think of his slow-mo fall. Hope all is well and training is progressing nicely. Take Care and don't drink too many espresso martinis🚴♂🚴♀😁
@@bobbarbour4288 hello legend!! Hahaha I must find that clip of him falling, it was one of the funniest moments of my life 😂 not sure he would agree lol! Alllll good here, chipping away, really enjoying training - next race is next weekend in the Netherlands! Fingers crossed I can place well enough for world qualification🤞 then August I'm in Sweden and back home for national champs. Lots going on and all exciting! hope you're good anyway Bob!! Have you been up to anything fun recently?x
@@Mudpies Hi Josie: If you find the video of Andy doing the slip n slide, you should repost it or use it for an intro. I know Andy would appreciate the memory. It was hilarious and everyone needs a good laugh!!! Good Luck on your upcoming race in the Netherlands, Fingers are crossed!! Qualification will come sooner rather than later. All is good here. Summer has been relatively mild & wet, but that won't last. I hear the UK has been cold & dreary. But may make for good training weather. That is if it's not raining. Take Care and say HI to your mum & dad for me.🤭🤭🚴🚴♂🚴♀☕
Well shit, today I learned that Nike is the greek goddess of victory. Great mudlark, wonder what stirred all the mud up that day. Lovely poison bottle too. In my local town i noticed they'd found a dump area in a place they are preparing for houses..but by the time i came home they'd already covered it with hardcore. Such a shame i will not get to explore what is in it.
good to sea ?you back up the creek ,training for the estuary??please don,t cut the Harrods bot,so rare maybe wait for another first !what year do you think? Happy digging .
