Hi, my name is Zach. I'm a Resident Physician in Internal Medicine in Boston. I make videos about medical school, studying, and growth. I love trying new things and often mess up. However, every time I screw up I usually learn something. Whatever I learn I post either on RU-vid or my website 🌐 (zhighley.com/).
I write a biweekly newsletter 💌 (zhighley.com/newsletter/) linking the best things I read, watched, and listened to that week.
I have my final year med school exam in 9 days this will be ride or die for me (I get kicked out of med school if I don't get pass). I am going to try this method out and report back with the result...
Everytime I realize I am dreaming I say in the dream that I am dreaming and wake up. When it's a great dream I have tried to go back to the dream which never works lol When I have a nightmare I can literally say,... This makes no sense and wake up
Waking from a dream, turning on a light, and then writing down dreams is a challenge - especially as the dreams begin to fade within seconds after waking. I would be writing, but at the same time, can feel the dream begin to drift away from my conscious memory. For a few weeks I gave up even after having a brief lucid dream. Instead, I’ve begun to use my phone’s voice recorder. I know it’s not the same as writing and going through the handwriting motions that can enhance learning and memory, but at the same time I’m able to record more dreams and details within the dreams by using a voice recorder. I’ve just begun to do this in the past week so we’ll see…
Guys I’m overweight. I let myself go after high school and I’m starting to notice how fat I’m getting. And it kinda pissed me off. Starting today(June 1st 2024) I’m gonna go ahead and get my shit together. I’m leaving this comment here to hopefully keep me motivated and be held accountable. By the way I’m 5’9 and weigh 240 lbs. My goal is 180. I’ll update every 2 weeks or something like that.
When I started to be interested in this lucid dreaming thing, I almost immediately had a dream in which I knew I was dreaming and then I woke up. I thought it was so easy, but the fact is that I don't dream consciously, but I don't even remember my dreams now. maybe I'm doing something wrong or I just need to practice?
Be careful with this as it can cause sleep paralysis and you either get a demon sitting on your chest, old hag choking you or the hat man with red eyes…
Wow, incredibile, parli benissimo e hai fatto progressi velocissimi.
You are an inspiration! 🙌 Your 98-day strategy is genius. It's amazing how you went from the 50th to the 97th percentile! You've totally convinced me that it's all about studying smarter, not longer. Thank you for sharing your tips!
I never have an appointment with a doctor anymore in any capacity of Healthcare....every time it's a nurse practitioner, and I am genuinely curious why? Is becoming a doctor so difficult and expensive and students do not find it worth acheiving?Genuine curiosity here 😊❤
I spent 5 hours reorganizing and decluttering my closet last night. I am a well organized person, but my closet had too much visual clutter. I ended up with a large bag of shoes and clothes to donate, and I have set aside some purses to sell online that I no longer use.
just keep asking why when you read a new concept/theory..until you get to the very root of it..if you get stuck take help from chatGPT..then try explaining the whole thing back to yourself imagining an audience..
I'm NO DR,I DID STUDY PSYCHOLOGY THOUGH AT THE COLLEGE.. ANYWAY IM 40 AND HAVE HAD LUCID DREAMS AND MORE MY WHOLE LIFE. I DONT HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT OR THINK ABOUT IT NATURALLY OCCURS.. ON TOP OF THAT I HAVE HAD SEVERE SLEEP PARALYSIS AT TIMES. .. U CAN IMAGINE THAT KIND OF COMBINATION.... ANYWAY AGAIN . I THINK YOUR OVER THINKING AND FORCING AN OUTCOME TO SOME ONE PREDETERMINED OUTCIME . JUST BEING ABLE TO REMEMBER YOUR DREAMS MORE AND MORE IS A FEAT ALL IN ITS SELF... I HAVE LD DREAM 4/6 NIGHTS OUT OF THE WEEK . ITS THE ONLY WAY TO DREAM UNLESS IM DRAINED OF ENERGY AND I JUST BLACK OUT AND RECHARGE
Reality checks are just to get you used to it, this is a weak method. You should just stay aware as you fall asleep. Every night I watch myself fall asleep and I decide when to enter the dream, at no point do I lose awareness, so no reality checks are needed. It sounds crazy, but it's easy. When you start to feel yourself moving or like you're fighting a "falling" feeling, you have to willingly fall back or jump in, because you're aware you normally would fight this without knowing, all you have to do is give in to the feeling. You'll fall, you'll feel like you're sky diving, you'll hear a very intense noise build up and feel a vibration, then silence, and then the dream will slowly materialize. If you didn't know better you would think you were awake the whole time. Lay on your right side with your right arm straight in front of you, just do it, trust me. When you're in, because you are going into rem immediately, you won't be very deep in that state yet, so remain calm, and take on a passive role, don't go crazy yet. If you start to fade out, sit down and focus on an object, observe all the details, just focus on something, you'll get deeper into it, then you can resume whatever you were doing. No need to do all these steps people recommend, just keep your brain awake and let your body fall asleep! It's not scary, just go with it. It's like a rollercoaster, it might be scary the first few times, but when you ride it enough, it's nothing. I love it now, it's like going through a portal, it's fun.
I'm positively amazed bro. I always wandered how people like you manage to do so much in a single day. Now I know. Your level of organization and self discipline has inspired me to try a little harder 😁
