My channel is a collection of videos which show my rather sudden transformation over the years from an R/C flying FPV pilot to a fairly accomplished, highly enthusiastic ultralight pilot.
Great vid! You gotta love how someone uploads something 12yrs ago and the comments/questions are continuing like it was published last week:) (probably a testament to the evergreen nature and quality of the content)
Extremely risky. Potentially over stressing the wing and lose half a panel. Rad up on Parks Dive. WW1 RFC pilot who was one of the first to successfully recover from a spin and wrote the first technique
I was there in my orange tail Sonex. That morning I flew to grants pass and the rv guys were there. Then I flew to green trees for the get together and camping. Had a great time. Even got coffee in the morning. FUN!! I miss you Doug (guy that filmed it in the shark tooth ultralight)… Great memories…..
There was a Lotta vibration on that engine, looked like front right mounting hole didn't have a bolt , feel sorry for these Ukranians , having their runway, next to a nuclear plant ,and landing airplanes on radioactive grounds. 😢 reminds me so much of Chernobyl .
I remember being so happy when this came out and I hoped for a lot of new vids, I really miss your channel. Are you ok man? And do you plan on making more vids?
Nice, but let's be honest...could you really still see your plane- I've been 619meters according to my gps with my LRP UpStream- I could still see my glider, but only coz of cloud cover....with no clouds, I'll not exceed 300m- nice video all the same
additional: running the way it is shown breaks the bond where the strength of the belt comes from. Observe the new belt - there will be a slight taper of the sides with the slightly wider surface being the flat side. This taper is there to match the shape of the pulleys.
It was neat to see this; we thought we were the only one. It is on display at the Aviation Museum of Kentucky. Ours has the registration number NR12881. Ours won several air races in the 1930s, was exhibited at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, and was donated to the Museum by Mr. & Mrs. Howard Brandon of Murray, Kentucky.
This is awesome but I don't think you can do it in many places anymore. I think there are quite a lot of restrictions on flight Level now unless you apply for a NOTAM
Is it even possible to get a NOTAM and a clearance to do this kind of thing? I like to do long range FPV and drive many hours to the coast. I fly over the ocean to stay out of US airspace as much as I can but it would be awesome i come request a clearance for the 12 NM I would be in US airspace. I don’t think the FAA has made this possible so I will do my thing without talking to traffic until they find a way to get my 6LB plane legally operating in the NAS.
Cool Video but buzzing around mowing the Grass leaves very little time to react to a emergency situation, I'm glad it happened over a wet but open field!
I do not have experience with belts that look like yours but I do have designed many drives with typical "timing" belts. The tension members within the belt are wound in a spiral. This causes the belt to track to one side of the pulleys. Most belts have a right hand spiral which in your case would cause the belt to track toward the engine. But since your wear is on the side away from the engine, suspect the tension members in your belt are wound left handed. So I would carefully examine the flanges on the pulleys and find what is supposed to keep the belt from just walking off of them. There should be a flange one one or both pulleys on the side away from the engine to do that. The interaction between the flanges and the belt is a possibly causing the wear. The other option to consider is what happens dynamically when the engine is running? It would be helpful to watch the belt with the engine running at different rpms to see if belt flutter is causing it to hit something it is not supposed to. If you have access to a strobe light, or a strobe app on your phone, you can use it to make the belt motion appear to be in slow motion. This may tell you the problem instantly.
That aircraft has to be forced and held in the spin. It will recover on its own just by letting go of the stick. I have spun one of these hundred of times and never had any issue recovering... very forgiving
Hello sir,i need your help actually my watch has a issue i charged it but the camera, audio anything is not working only watch showing time correctly so please suggest some idea
First visit to your channel. I'm a commercial/instrument pilot, fly for fun, & get to work on F35s as a career. I'm considering an ultralight so have been watching videos. It was disconcerting to read your kind words in CAPS introducing me to your channel. I'm not going to talk about your choice to spin your ultralight, but your description's beginning is repulsive enough that I will not be back and will leave a dislike. You can see my hair style in my Eagle Park Wild Mouse video, so you can make fun of it.
