My channel is a mess of stuff! I love testing, reviewing and working on just about anything. I hope you enjoy this channel and subscribe. Never know what will be on video next!
Great video! We’ve had this pool bot for a couple of years. Has worked well but I think I need to replace the battery. This video gave me confidence. Thank you.
a tip I learned is you should open the valve on the LP tank slowly so the regulator in the hose line doesn't close off the flow of gas thus limiting the supply. Might try that to see if it fixes you rough idle.
Hello, That does apply to BBQ regulators. I have yet to come across a regulator for a generator that will lock out propane flow in the same way. You can actually open the tank with these regulators / hose unhooked and open as fast as you like, propane will flow at the rate intended by the regulator. If you find any that will lock you out, let me know!
Hi Mr garage. Really love your detailed videos. Very informative. On the topic of pulsar 3200w generator. I came across one truetimber 3200w generator by pulsar. Have you seen it or can you shed some light on it. I came across one with a nice price tag and I'm interested . The mode number is TGD40iS. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance
Hello and thank you for the video as I am about to do my gx470 project. Nothing crazy and expensive but off-road capable and fun. Got few questions. 1. From your experience how much gx470 can tow? My RV weight about 5150lb empty, I think with all our stuff in it it will be 6200-6500lb. Would be it too much for gx470 Including few hills on the road? The tires you’ve put are they 33’s or 35? What rims size would you suggest if I want the tire to be flash with a sides/fender sides What would be the difference if Belistein 6112 installed? Thank you in advance
Just bought one off Ebay. With coupon and rebate on my Credit card I got it for $272 delivered. Ran it for an hour so far. Exercising it with a 1750 watt hair dryer about 1-2 minutes every 15 minutes. Sluggish in eco mode for sure. Bought it for dry camping but wanted something that would run the trailer A/C if needed. Seems to be running rich. Going to check the spark plug once it cools down. Maybe the valve lash. Going to run it for another hour before I change the oil. They recommend 5 hours break-in run time!
Polling to see who would be a retro fit revamp of this bugger? DC brushless motors, some high efficientcy blades, shift the battery location to center weight... maybe better materials for the rubber skirt.
I would say (without reviewing it) that the pulsar would be a better choice. My favorite budget pick is this unit, the Nexpow YH2200i. amzn.to/3z938nr which I would recommend over the pulsar. Cheaper and better features.
Dang it. Today, I just ordered the BiltHard 2k gas genny based on your great outcome of its review. Now, it did come up shy of the 2k you expected. Think it topped out at 1940kw in your test I watched. Just went online n saw Walmart has this Nexpow @$329 but w a coupon it offred $30 off. So about same as the BH I bought. But i just ordered a hour meter, $12. The Nexpow has it bilt in. Ah well, they seem close enough for about same price. Next, Im liking the Heomaito hmt3500 dual fuel. Online order only. Costco had the Firman dual fuel @$799. Hoping for a July4th sale for the easier return policy. But the Heomaito sure looks good to me in your test. Want next genny aprox 4kwh for propane use only. I'll be watching ya for anymore surprises. AND, Howdy from Tx!
It will be fine but the nexpow is definitly a step up. Still the best overall budget gen I have found in this price range. And for sure, can't go wrong with the heomeito! They revved the PN to HMT4300iD now (same thing exactly). It just outperformed its labels with ease so their marketing capitalized on it. Much appreciated! Stay tuned, always more to come!
Do you have a light tint on your windshield? I have the same boat but my windshield doesn't have a tint like yours seems to at 11:29. Is so what did you go with? Also, on your starboard side smart tab, did you have to modify the swim platform to mount the strut or did it fit just under the swim platform?
You likely have the newest version of the generator. They went through a couple of generations. The valve covers are VERY different if a later rev. Also WOW... .002 to .003 seems really tight. Don't like that at all!
The WEN DF360iX would best this generator in power output. Weight and size wise, it is larger and around 15lbs heavier. The WEN is more in the league of the GD400BN and HMT4300iD besting the GD400BN in features (not power) and a cheaper option than the HMT4300iD. Not sure if the WEN has an iron sleeve / bore or aluminum. I know the HMT does have iron sleeve which keeps it my favorite choice.
My favorite dual fuel right now is the this unit amzn.to/3x7gHU1 It would be a perfect match for your single 15k. Next favorite is the this pulsar amzn.to/3xfUhQo I feel the extra features of the Heomaito are worth it for about $100 more. It is a really good runner.
This was such an excellent video! I even let the ads run for a little while so you could make a few extra bucks on it. I just received this generator yesterday and am doing my break-in period right now. I am a single woman living very remotely in the jungle. I have two 800W solar generators that are starting to fail. I bought this so I can rotate all three of them, especially when it's cloudy and charging the solar generators becomes more cumbersome than it is worth. One 800W solar generator runs my refrigerator, a fan, and charges my electronics, so I knew this generator would be sufficient for my needs. The only things I can't run are my washer/dryer combo, and my toaster oven. I have gas alternatives to cook, and I can always wash clothes by hand if I'm without electricity long enough to go through all my clothes. I feel very grateful I found this little generator before the upcoming storm season. As my solar generators are not lasting as long as previous years, this will be perfect to combine all of them and never be without some kind of power. Thank you for such a detailed video about this.
This is so cool to hear! I am glad it helped you out and you have an amazing use case :) Keep us posted with how things go and as always, keep up with maintenance!
@@MR_Garage I do have one question, if you wouldn't mind replying. I ran it for two hours at turtle mode and 2.5 hours at normal mode. In the final half-hour, I connected my phone charger and a small fan just to put a small load on it. I just changed the oil after that run time, and it looked good. I bought 10W-30 as per the directions. You used 15W-40. I live in the tropics. It is hot, humid beyond belief, sunny, and fierce. I don't understand oil weights or why to use one over another. I tend to think 15W-40 is better given this extreme climate. What are your thoughts? We generally have 30-33 degrees C and 95-98% humidity.
@@MR_Garage Also, I will definitely be using your links to replacement parts and maintenance. I'm grateful you have listed everything so I don't have to go searching for it and unwittingly buy the wrong products.
Hello, I specifically use 15w40 Rotella as it is actually made for diesels and uses a really good detergent and additive package. Also has good ZDDP (zinc) and really is a good choice for small engines. 10w30 will do you just fine if it is a quality oil. 33C is not so hot! 46C at my house yesterday and will be on the way to 48C soon!!! I know it feels hot per humidity but you are fine with that choice of 10w30. Just make sure you stick to a good change schedule and you will be fine. And, make sure to run a magnetic dipstick in these little generators.
Fo you have numbers on life at the 2000w draw my wife runs a vending business and is looking for me to build this and im trying to determine if it is really worth it for her application
I am looking for a 3000 to 3500 watt propane generator and this one seems like a no brainer! Am I missing a better option out there ? Wanted to stay under 50 lbs Your thoughts?
Hello, Right now this is my #1 pick overall out of all the generators I have owned and reviewed. Solid machine. Pulsar GD400BN comes in a very close second for less cash but less features (often goes on sale for $499). amzn.to/3Xchnlu Both will serve you well!
It’s there a way you can review their new Pulsar PG5000BiSRCO Dual Fuel 30A RV Ready Portable Inverter Generator with Remote Start? It’s 5000 watts peak and the same size as the one you reviewed in this video, and if so. It would be greatly appreciated.
I do not have it on my list to review but will consider it (have been watching it for a while). Looks to be a nice unit but very heavy in comparison to this unit but also more powerful. Remote start accounts for a lot of that weight.
Stupid question if you parallel link 2 generators together do they need to be the same wattage? Asking for a friend lol. Also your hard bilt gen review was fantastic. Definitely learning lots, i look forward to your future reviews.
They do not need to be the same wattage. They both do need to be inverter generators | pure sinewave. An example, if you have an 1800W generator and a 4000w generator in parallel, you would not be able to exceed the lowest rated generators output x2. In this example, the pair could do 3600w ish... (not 5800W)
Great video! Do you have any experience with the Champion 2500 duel fuel? Anyway, I loved the video and the way you structured your review. Also, I'm really thankful for the heads up on the magnetic dip stick.
Much appreciated! The champion 2500 uses the same inverter and engine rotating assembly as the very inexpensive bilt hard I reviewed awhile ago. Same manufacturer but the champion uses a better designed panel with additional features. Also, it is dual fuel which the bilt hard does not offer. I think it would be a fine generator if you chose the champion and will serve you if maintained. For the price and weight, I feel there are better dual fuel options and I would not chose the champion for myself. For about the same price or cheaper, you can get a GD400BN pulsar like this and have a much more powerful generator for only 10lbs more weight. amzn.to/4aOv6C7 Or, my top pick in the 40-50lb range - the heomaito HMT4300iD amzn.to/4e3YVBD
Bravo, well done. My travel trailer has two quick disconnects on the propane line that I use for my flat top and BBQ. If I were to get just a flexible gas line without a regulator with a male quick release on one end, would this generator work using my trailers onboard regulator? Thanks for your time.
The regulator that comes with the generator is unique to the motor size and carb of the generator. If you ditch the regulator and go straight, there is no guarantee what air fuel ratio you will end up with. A lot of guys do this hack and it may work, start and run but longevity of the motor comes into question. Better to split off the tank pre-regulator and attach the line for the generator directly. Or, use the 2nd propane tank on the trailer (if equipped) specifically for the generator.
I just got a new Ryobi 1/4" impact, two 1.5Ah batteries and charger shipped for $70. (3 yr manufacturer's warranty too.) Dam strong impact and I used it on nuts/bolts of 10 to 17 mm today with no problems at all. So I need one with 1/2 inch impact power (lug nuts and beyond) and this review just sold me. With my batteries fitting the P261, there's a clean, lightly used one on eBay for $50 and free ship. Think I'm gonna go that route. Thanks for the vid -- it help me make up my mind.
Looks like your TV is a Lexus GX we have save same it matches well with a the 153. Just got back from a 5,500 trip from AZ to back east and down south and back to Kingman. Screws for a couple cabinet latches came loose was our biggest problem used wood matches and reinserted screws. Thanks for showing us the guts of a 153!
Right on man! Crap gas mileage but rock solid reliability !!!! I picked my 153 up in Kentucky (long story) towed it back to Arizona. Longest single trip I have done.
I would recommend just removing the spark arrestor. That will help the engine breathe a lot easier and run much cooler. If you're ever in a spot where you think you might need the spark arrestor (like a national park... only because it's required by law) you can reinstall it. But otherwise, get rid of that spark arrestor. I'm thinking that there might be a bad or at least subpar component in the inverter that is causing the dirty waveform... it would be interesting to see what the scope shows on another identical unit. I like your choice of oil. Mobil Delvac 1300Super is my flavor of choice, but these small engines really need the heavy duty oil. I run the Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 in my small engines that see winter use, but that said, I've never had a problem with using the 15W40 in the winter either.
I don't disagree on the spark arrestor :) I just can't say it in my videos HAH! This is also why I prefer the single layer screen arrestors. They usually never clog and breath super easy. I wanted Dinking to offer another unit to test or at least speak to what was shown but they did not. They insisted it would get better with time. I have not run this generator in a while but need to get back to it and test more. You choose good oil too! HDEO's are so good in these small engines.
Hey Kevin, They are all listed in the video description. The new YT layout makes it kinda hard to find but all is there. Here are the plug options. I mostly use Denso as of late as you do not need the terminal nut separate. Equal in quality and performance to the NGK. DENSO UPGRADED IRIDIUM SPARK PLUG THAT WILL LAST THE LIFE OF THE GENERATOR. WILL FIRE AND START EVEN WHEN WET FOULED. DO NOT CHANGE THE GAP! amzn.to/48zu7EF NGK UPGRADED IRIDIUM SPARK PLUG THAT WILL LAST THE LIFE OF THE GENERATOR. WILL FIRE AND START EVEN WHEN WET FOULED. DO NOT CHANGE THE GAP! amzn.to/3OHYPEC (SEE TERMINAL NUT NEEDED IN THE NEXT LINK) ***** For the NGK spark plug upgrade, you will need a terminal nut. You can buy this one in the link or you can unscrew the one on the factory plug (takes some force) and use that. amzn.to/3PqzpMH
Hey @MR_Garage - the previous owner of my GX470 did a rear coil conversion using Eibach Rear ERS load leveling system. I am now replacing that with the Arnott air springs and Bilstein system you advocate for. My question is about bump stops. Should I return to the OEM stops? Is there another option you recommend? Thanks
You could always keep the eibach setup and go with air-lift 1000 bags inside the springs. Just an idea. I still stick with the stock airbags. works excellent for me as I tow a lot. No need to return to oem bump stops that I know of.
@@MR_Garage appreciate it. I already have the Arnott air bags, Bilstein shocks, new Eibach front springs, new bushings, top hats, new brake lines, washers, diff drop and new hardware. Pretty much everything on your list because I am borrowing a friend's shop for a day and want to have all the potential parts on hand. I want to remove the Eibach rear kit whole to sell it. Thanks for all your help and video content. Strange but your laundry detergent video for stinky shirts has been my favorite
@@MR_Garage yeah, I tow a 4,000 tt regularly all around the PNW, usually also loaded up with kids and gear. So towing is very important. My brakes are the next project. Any comments / recommendations on the power stop products? I saw your Bosch recommended setup but curious if for a bit more money you'd do Power stop or even the GX460 upgrade?
2024 192 here. Right off the bat, I found 1. water leaking from pex connector to the hot water tank. 2. Water leaking from the waterless P trap(Pipe connector was missing a washer on one end). Fixed both myself before they could cause any water damage to my brand new trailer. 3. A speaker wire lead was not connected to the ceiling mounted speaker. 4. Dinette table wobbles excessively. I watched this video before buying and overall the build quality is about what I expected(low expectations). Thanks for taking all the panels out and showing us what it looks like!
