UNFINISHED LONDON A show about London's quirky, unexplained unbuilt infrastructure, exploring bridges over nothing, tunnels to nowhere, and borders that don't make any sense.
MAP MEN Me and Mark Cooper-Jones (the comedian off the telly who used to be a geography teacher and really loves geography) team up to talk about the world's weirdest/funniest/interestingest maps.
POLITICS UNBORINGED What does the Prime Minister do? Who does the government? What does Right Honourable mean? If you don't understand the first thing about British politics, but you want to, this series was made for you.
australian here and we have this thing called 'sand banks' which is basically when a big patch of sand appears out of the water - it can often look like a small island - maybe this island did exist but was actually a sand bank and just washed away over time...
There are actually trailer houses and mobile homes at the exact spot where Agloe was on that map. They associate with the Roscoe-Rockland town despite being outside of their city limits by 300 feet and a full 100 feet before the welcome sign.
An island full of Amazonian women sounds very appealing actually. I too would be devastated to find out that an island I'd read so fondly about turned out to not exist.
2:58 This is a joke, but man I wish the world could work like that. Sometimes I just need to know something quickly but for that I need to write a proper letter, send it physically, wait for them to process it, wait for them to ignore me, send another letter, go to their place, wait 3 hours in the waiting room, realize it's closed because it's Saturday, cry.
Is it bad i really do wait for the adverts, they are SO clever to make the advert a part of the show. "But its...not...and andvert" is finnier than entire tv shows all by itself haha
Why do you pronounce Amerigo as "ameh-REE-go"? It's pronounce the same as America, but with an "o" (yeah, mind-blow!). Amerig-oh! (g and c are very similar sounds, look it up)
Living in Hornchurch, it still makes me chuckle that despite being in Greater London, and South Ockendon being where the border to Essex officially starts, our mail still has 'Essex' attached to it. Even online forms do this.
Would you get explorers just outright trolling those who came afterwards, especially other map makers, the same way later map makers put fake features on city maps as a form of copyright?
So… sometimes, when I add a graphic in a box behind me, I have to shift myself over to the left to make room for it and make the shot look nicer. Unfortunately, this leave a big black box on the right hand side. So I have to fill it in by adding more background. In this case, I forgot to make the “more background” last the full shot.
