HI, welcome to the Mexican Spec channel. Here you will see the differences between Mexican Spec and US Spec cars. Thrown in for good measure you will also see work I do on my own fleet of old metal. Please remember my motto. "Not Good But Better" If you want to send me anything please request my shipping information. Thank you for visiting us.
The Mexican Fairmont's available 302 V8 engine option is unique in that the US Fairmonts in 1980 and 1981 came with an available Windsor 255 V8 as the top engine. The 302 was available in US Fairmonts only in 1978 and 1979.
1981 worst yr for American cars? I would say it started in 1981 and ran for a few yrs (rebounding in 86 and 87). Now I would say we can say decades instead of yrs for poor quality American made cars since the 2010's 😲
Yes but it started in 1981. They had big engines but only put out 150 HP. That was because of the smog equipment the car companies didn't know how to make.
I hear Buff may be looking for another car, this is perfect for him 😋 That tailgate (nothing else though) looks like it came straight from our 1979-87 Aussie Falcon wagon.
Heat 😂 I drove my Grandpa's bug one year in the winter and I had to scrape frost on the inside of the window to see where i was going and you had to drive for 30 minutes before it would get warm inside.
@@NathansMoparGarage Just about everything with an air cooled VW is sketchy, but that is what they had for these. I don't know what another solution would be.
Excuse me but I found these exact pictures on an ad for this car on Facebook marketplace and they’re selling it for 2000 dollars, can you confirm that you took these pictures and the ad I saw is a scam?
Yes I am selling that car and I do all the traveling to go get the car and transport it to the border. If you have any questions about my integrity send me an email and I will set you up with my previous clients so they can tell you what services I offer. That is, of course if you are serious about buying a car.
That is one sweet looking Dart. The color sets it off great. We only got the 225 in the Valiants down here too, which is odd, as the cars it was built to compete with, only had a 138 (Holden) and 144/170 (Falcon) initially.
That thing is a showcar compared to the rust buckets im used to 😉. Anyone in Ontario looking to buy a Mexican Spec ride we can do the same thing Mex, i could be a stop in the process of getting it there as long as i can post on my channel 👍
I am sure we can work something out. I still don't know how to do the paperwork and my customs agent doesn't know either. I will have to research it. There is a form to fill out allowing the vehicle to cross the US to be imported into the US but I am not sure what it is.
Nice 57, but, in this country at least, this is a Custom 300, not a Fairlane. In 57 and 58, there were two different Fords, the Custom and Custom 300 on a 116 inch wheelbase and conventional sedan style doors, and the Fairlane and Fairlane 500 on a 118 inch wheelbase, all using convertible style doors with separate uppers to adapt them to steel-roof cars.
@@mexicanspec The early 510 was just "Datsun 1600" That was replaced directly here by the 180B, then 200B, each slightly bigger. Our Stanza was basically a 1978 rebirth of the more popular older 1600 in the more squared off form, seen on your Samurai.
When I went to visit some cousins in New Jersey in 1984, their family car was a 1968 Mercury wagon with the 390 and 3 on-the-tree. The father let me drive it once too.
@mexicanspec i can't remember what year it was. But I wish I had kept it. My girlfriend was freaked out by it, so I sold it. If memory serves me, it had ridiculously low mileage.
@@donmunro144 Most of them did. You would have done better to get rid of the girl friend. My girl friend grew to love hearses and the jokes that went with them.
I had a car just as rare: an AHB Reliant Police/Patrol car bought new. It was a giant killer. Rewelded unibody. Freewheel clutch-equipped a/c compressor. Regeared transmission. Heavy duty front and rear brakes. Front and rear anti-roll bars. Goodyear Eagle GT tires, stock. Heavy duty padded seats front and rear. Separate coolers for the transmission AND the power steering unit. Skid pan under the engine. Upgraded alternator. and much more. I had it for 15 years. I also added a strut cross brace...and Koni shocks and struts. Yes, Konis on a K-car.
