I still think the master love system is total bs. Ofcorse it keeps the game alive but when the story and lore gets butcherd to such degree, its just sad. But hey, they have to do what they have to do to keep the coomer money going.
It's poetic that a character which constantly loses memories had her entire life story deleted from the memory of players via retcons. Thanks for archiving this, I never would've known.
I heard that Snowbreak was going to re-write the whole first 10 chapters. Perhaps they can build something that ties things together with the current story in a better way better.
The Initial concept of Snowbreak is amazing the problem was the plot, the plot was lazy so all the world they build dont have to much relevance cause most of the people really dont care what happened after the chapter 10. If they story was good initially im sure the game could be much better and they didnt need to change anything.
Story doesn't really carry gacha games as much as you would think, especially for the target demographics which are CN and JP players mostly. While it adds background at the end of the day these games HAVE to sell charcaters and you know whats easier then just giving lore? Making them attractive, just in the Enya and Cherno patch they made 20 million alone in CN the highest its every been from its abysmal $500k it used to make with the previous direction they had. Unless you are hoyoverse and have wide global appeal you are better off just cattering to that demographic and build the game off of that.
When the game came out, I really liked the story. I really liked the characterizations of Lyfe and Fenny and their seemingly one sided rivalry, and Nita and Cherno for their past affiliations to the enemy factions that we fight. It had some unique potential for some interesting story telling, even thought the genre of post apocalyptic waifu games is oversaturated. However, around the time Tess got released, I felt like i was missing important information. And that feeling became stronger when I read the story from then on. It was bugging me for a long time, but this video has given me a likely answer. Perhaps I was missing information, not because I wasn't paying enough attention to the story, but because the nature of the story itself has changed, and to me, it seems that change started around after the yallu island event. It seems to me that the shift to a Master Love story in Snowbreak is making it harder to follow and more incoherent. This video made me realize not only do we need more videos on the characterizations in snowbreak, we need someone to go through the entire plot from the start.
Enya and Cherno really have to be done at the same time. Tess doesn't have as much lore to work with as she's the first character to have basically no attachments to the world set up in chapters 1-11, so she's lower priority. I was thinking about doing Haru, but after the announcements today I think Lyfe or Fenny is probably more timely.
Is it though? After seeing the scary levels of Para social in Girls Front line. HI3rd, etc. I don't like Companies making money off players' manufactured feelings.
@@arnowisp6244 Welcome to gacha games. Gacha games has always been about collecting waifus and fanservices. It has always been about gratifying the lonely people's need for parasocial relationship with fictional characters. It's literally monetised on selling characters.
Im sad siris story had to change for the worse but i do enjoy master love type stories. I'm a goddess of victory nikke player after all. That being said i hope they can do better writing wise to make the stories more consistent and give the characters more depth. I can say from playing a game with a similar master love story that nikke doesn't get rid of characters friendships. In fact alot of them constantly have events together sometimes even without the main self insert character. I think the developers have potential to do good. master love stories can be done well they just need to avoid hyper focusing to much on the master love aspect they forget we are supposed to like the character to. Make the characters real and alive first then add the attraction and love. The developers to their credit seem very willing to listen to players so perhaps bringing up some writing inconsistencies in the next survey would bring some good changes that could make the games story better for everyone. Thanks for the video i appreciate the deep dive!
Really impressive deep dive! Gotta admit I didnt catch all these things. You should make general lore videos about each character outside of the retcon angle, you'd be good at it!
It's kind of sad and bitter now that after i watch this. With how her memories work in the newest, everything seems... idk convenient to the plot. So they just going to use her forgetfulness for narrative instead of consistent clinical condition. You're right that it's just dumbed down version and it fits for the new direction though imo still not organic to take it seriously even as romcom. And the quality of writing seems a bit down too in recent update despite there are more words than chapter 11. I think what makes Chapter 11 is great is that how it shows the development of the characters while Siris stories is looking like a jumble mess of inconsistency. The writers seems fail to show the transition of siris development. On a hilarious note, That comment in Ksana's personal files section hits the mark. The writing feels like that "An off-hand attempt at a justification for a major story element that the writing team just pulled out of their ahh..." Another hilarious note. When i read about Siris tells the Adjutant about the trick her mother used to tell her for first time, i got a good laugh out of it because it implies that siris doesn't love her mother. How quaint & cruel.
I want to say thank you for cateloguing this information. I am very new to the game- i only started playing within the last 2 weeks, but hearing about these retcons very much concerns me, and the way it's been done even more so. I feel very much concerned about how they will handle fitting the new direction in the future with other characters, and I hope it's nowhere like this in the future to how different the characters are. I don't think i would mind the core thrust of her character change if it was a progression instead of what I see as a Retcon, and im not happy at all about the loss of her and Chenxing's interactions. I wonder if part of why Sirius was so altered is because of just how hidden her character actually is. to get the full scale of the alterations You have to either have a video like this, or actually been there for each element, when if it isn't part of a permanent story piece or Personnel file, the odds of seeing it drop extensively for the bulk of the playerbase.
If you see the new story, the one in New Hentiro, that is how it will be. All female characters will thirst over self insert, they will protect you with their life, and you'll protect them. Also you'll always be 2 steps ahead of the villains, which is currently the Board, that was also retconned in Chapter 11 to be the big bads, while in first 10 chapters that wasn't the case. Before Chapter 11 it was the old writer from beta, and since Yehrus it's a new harem writer that came in Tess patch, that's why everything is so different.
@@TheMrToxin I did see New Hentiro. I played through 1-11 and New Hentiro already, and knew going in that there was a writer change, and a direction change post 10. personally the board thing only bothers me as much as the "being steps ahead of them" bit is. even pre 10 they seemed scummy to me if that wasn't also a rewrite. I also get how the core focus is going to be going forward... that said I don't know enough about all the characters to know what else is at risk of change specifically beyond the new core motivation. now im worried about how the staff handles the characters to meet the changes as much as the quality going forward.
@@DarkCT Ok so you played through the story. Well you definitely noticed a 'sharp' change in Chapter 11, that's when new writers came in, and in Tess chapter (Yehrus), another writer came in who CN players call 'brother Kang' and he's the harem writer, and the reason why game became master love. You don't need to worry about anything from Chapter 11 onward, that's the new writing, it's only the first 10 chapters and the personal files that came before Chapter 11, some of it is already retconned like Siris, but others can be too, like Nita, Fritia's file and so on, basically all the characters the game had at launch and in the Festival event, before Chapter 11. And yes the Board originally were the schemers and similar, but weren't the big bads that Chapter 11 made them out to be. Enya and Cherno had a sort of 'mother/daughter' relationship originally, that was also partially retconned, as well as Nita for example not being completely in love with Adjutant, but now all female characters are. So in short, it's only the first 10 chapters and Festival event that can be changed, the ones written the old way.
@@TheMrToxin aye, thats well outlined as to what can be changed. thanks for giving me examples of other changes that may happen. I guess i need to go through the personnel files of Enya, Nita, Cherno, and Fritia at the 4 star amounts to get a feel of what things already were. Enya and Cherno had that kind of set up? I did notice Enya keeping an eye on Cherno in the earlier chapters. funnily enough i think the only 4 star im missing is original sirius. and true, they hadn't been promoted to big bad until 11. that said, from the earlier chapters, the deal one of them had with dietrich over trying to turn people against others in the containment zone still really got to me. honestly after a certain breakpoint chapters 1-10 had me scratching my head at times. I just hope that when the next exosuits or rewrites for launch characters come, it keeps their character more consistent than what happened here. Considering all this, what's your take of the game at this point anyway? I'm not usually a player of any game like this, mechanically nor otherwise.
@@DarkCT Yeah basically all the 4 star personal files and launch content are prone to change, as well as those standard 5 stars like Marian, Fritia and so on. The one who had deal with Dietrich was Pi, which is the same person you meet in New Hentiro, yet it was never mentioned there, which begs to question if that is retconned too, although her character is consistent with the one from before personality-wise. Personally as a Day 1 player who bought all the skins up to 5 star Enya patch, I feel mixed about the game. It has improved in many ways compared to before, everyone thinks new story is better than the one from before, and they even became mainstream in CN recently due to GFL2 drama, and them listening to feedback. But on the other hand, becoming mainstream made them change the game too much, and focus too much on the harem aspect and even after earning so much money, they're still not making new mini games like Monopoly from Summer event. Other games that earn less than them like Aether Gazer constantly make new mini games and even have fully voiced story. Meanwhile Snowbreak is focusing too much on fanservice and retcons now, which I don't like. But overall, game is definitely doing better now and it's superior than it used to be in some ways.
i like new desings, but when their minds degenerate to the point of a livestock it hurts alot. Now i can feel what hentai cuckold guys feels when his girl is mind broken
Great video. As a new player, it's really nice being able to see the old story. Personally, I prefer the old version and I'm glad that you documented it and how it differs from the retcon.
I hope the story improves over time as well. I personally like master love stories but it needs to be well done. Like Nikke goddess of victory is pretty good with the master love. The characters all still have her own personalities and relationships but they still love the master at the end of the day so it's pretty good imo. I think if they can make the whole story consistent it will be better. I look forward to their reworks on the earlier chapters since I never really enjoyed the story originally Anyways. I just treat the rewrite characters as entirely new and try to enjoy them on their own.
Awesome video. You rock and thank you for your time for researching these characters. I hope you can make more videos like this about the other characters as well. Much love <3
I understand the announcement wasn't any happy news, but it's important to note that it was a one sided claim from a Discord moderator who presumably works for member of staff in Seasun's Global Marketing Department. Unless we hear from both Seasun and the agency representing the voice actors, which is unlikely, we cannot claim to know the whole truth. Moreover, the agency negotiates contracts on behalf of the voice actors. It is unlikely that the situation was solely within the voice actors' control. The fact of the matter was that the nature of the job has changed. If Seasun truly wish to bring English voice acting back, they can explore other agencies who would provide suitable talents, as they have provided for other games with similar requirements. Finally, it should have been enough to announce that Seasun did not reach an agreement with the English voice acting agency. It was unnecessary and unprofessional to announce the supposed reason behind such decision. Without an official statement from the agency, the reason new contracts were not signed was solely Seasun's claim.
Yes, but the boss pattern is mostly RNG for most bosses. For Katya, she has one hp threshold move at ~50% hp where she instantly teleports to the center and does an 'Arrow Rain' style attack. Besides that, she can do any attack at any time. It's even possible for her to use a long animation attack that delays her 50% hp activation. Thus, it is possible to RNG a run where she barely moves and never goes invuln. This will always be the fastest run, but you'd need insane luck or a thousand resets to get it. So even if you learn the boss pattern and know all possible attacks, you can't really use that information to significantly improve your time. There are cases where it can help, but RNG is still the greatest factor.
You should pull for Lava Bones on the standard weapon banner. You can pick the rate up weapon, but it will only be 50/50 (100% if you fail the first time around). It's best to use mostly tickets, but that will take a while so you can use digicash if you're in a rush and it's worth to you. You will get a free Olympus from newbie quests. Level it to 50 for the Part and then recycle it. You can get another set of recycle materials from Paradoxical Labyrinth with a lot of grinding, but it's not timed so you can be casual about. If you lost your 50/50 for Lava Bones, you can recycle that weapon as well which will give you enough recycle components to buy your second copy of Lava Bones directly from the shop. Otherwise, swing the 50/50 again which will either give you a Lava Bones or something to disassemble.
In the case where you don't have tess's sig wep but you have t1 lava bones, a single beam would have a hard time oneshotting a max difficulty boss in simulation right?
Fascinating as always. This sounds to me like a major whale situation though, 'cause it would take several years on F2P to satisfy all the requirements. Just to meet the Lavabones requirement on F2P, you would need to make 96x10pulls on any operative banner if you get one 4star per 10pull. That amounts to almost 154K digicash. I replayed the video several times but didn't hear it mentioned, so I assume Fritia needs to be at M5, yes?
It's much faster to get Lava Bones by pulling on the weapon banner then using dissembled weapon material to trade for the second copy. Fritia needs to be minimum M1, but her damage will increase indirectly at M3 and directly at M4. M5 is not needed. If you've been playing a while and lost a couple 50/50s, it's not uncommon to have her at M1 without any particular effort.
I can kill him on the 1st 4 levels of the neural simulation no problem. The 5th level is really hard. I can break his armor but then he kills whoever I have left while they try to kill him.
If you have a good healer, now is a fine time to break them out. Eatchel is the best choice but work with whatever you have. If that's still not working, try using a Sniper character to break from range and minimize damage using the pillars he drops at the beginning. It won't be a quick time, but it's easier to survive. You can bring Lyfe 4* to paralyze him as well which will stop any attack. There's a 15s lockout on CC so you can't stop everything, but you can at least get rid of the most dangerous moves.
