Jimmy was NOT 5-9 and 160. He was 5-7 and 170....COMPACT and powerful. Aaron Judge is the biggest, most powerful guy ever. Makes Frank Howard look small. I saw Jimmy and Frank as a kid!!!!
I appreciate him taking the time to talk to me that day. His institutional knowledge of the game, in perfect detail, is an honor to experience first-hand. Happy to tell his story.
I was at this game in 93, I was 8 years old with my father. What a memory. I didn't understand baseball very well then but man that inspired me beyond belief as a young man.
Saw him play many times in Baltimore. Exciting player. In 1961, when he ended up third in homeruns he hit 46 hrs. and 141 rbi iplaying in only148 games! . . It should be mentioned he was a great fielding first baseman. too.
Diamond Jim. There's a classic picture of him when with the O's, busting a bat on home plate in frustration after striking out. The big names in the American League that "year of the homer" were Maris, Mantle, Colavito, Killebrew, and Jim. With 46, in any normal year, good enough to lead all of baseball.
Your channel is far and away my favorite on RU-vid. I look forward to each and every video. I notice the guitars in the background... In a band? Anything recorded? If so, where can we hear it? Keep up the great work. You're honest and authentic as the day is long. Cheers
I really appreciate it. Those are characteristics that I'd surmise are in short supply on this platform. 😂 Yes, a play guitar in a post-hardcore band called Pyro, Ohio. We have some music videos on here, and it's also available on Spotify, apple music, etc
@Hatbilly Wow..... Your band rips! Seriously. I've been playing in hardcore punk bands going on almost 30 years now, and I've heard a ton of bands. But, you fellas are solid as all hell! Love the name, too. Baseball and music are my two favorite things in the world, and now it's no wonder why the universe drew me to your channel. Cheers
@ColinMoran Life happened, and we all live in different states now, but we still write and record. Unfortunately, playing shows came to an end. That was my favorite part. Send me some of your music!
@Hatbilly I totally get that! We don't gig like we used to either. Kids and family are the main focus nowadays. Which is actually a great thing. Music will always be there. Ya know? I'm in The Damaged and we're on all the streaming platforms. We also hail from a rural area. Very Western New England. It's beautiful here. Just like how I'd imagine WV to be.
Stam the man was my fathers favorite player. My favorite was brooks robinson. I was terrible at 3rd base but i was the best right winger simce brett hull. Drinkimg emded me playing in europe. Nhl dream was an imppssibl3 dream.

Was stunned for a while after. Keep it goi g hatbilly. If we end up in hell together i will save you a seat at the bar.
10 cent beer night is the ultimate Hatbilly answer! 😂 Cal’s 2131 would be the pick for me, so if I manage to find a Delorean and some plutonium I’ll scoop ya up and we’ll take a trip back through time!
After the fact, I thought about it a little more, and I'd like to experience a negro leagues game with Bullet Rogan or Josh Gibson playing... hell I'd watch Josh Gibson mow the grass. He was the best at nearly everything.
10 cent beer night was so fucking insane that there’s not a single person on the planet who would not have it in their top 10 craziest days of their life if they went.
Who is picking o. You about how you TALK??!! I taught you to talk and it is above average. I know what you got in public speaking class and it was excellent. When traveling people say they could "listen to us talk all day." My texting does leave a lot to be desired.
Next time you go to an Oriole game, get there early and find a free spot near Pickett brewery. Fantastic beer and a 5 minute walk to the game! Ain't the beer cold.
Rangers all time lineup: P- Fergie Jenkins SS Kyle Seager 3B - Adrian Beltre 1B - Al Oliver 2B - Julio Franco LF - Juan Gonzalez CF Josh Hamilton RF - Adolis Garcia C- Ivan Rodriguez
Personally, I love the juxtaposition of your accent and your baseball content. We'll all be here for you when your move is complete and you get back to this. Best wishes.
My mom's family are all over Virginia Appalachia and despite moving to Los Angeles, I still love the accents from there. I met a guy who grew up just on the Pennsylvania side of the old M/D line who has the same last name as my mom's maiden name. He sure looks and sounds a lot like folks I know back there. I also know my mom talked a lot differently than her immediate family so we only heard the full accent when we visited family. Maybe she went to non-regional diction school. I never really asked her about it, but I know there were some difficult family dynamics going on there. I figure you talk the way you talk and whereas grammar and vocabulary are great tools to create understanding and common ground, they should never be considered rules. Language is alive in the hearts, minds, and mouths of each individual who uses it and their self-expression can never be wrong. Trying to make people feel bad about the way they talk is classic elitism and the calling card of the insecure.
I think I'm hypersensitive on the subject because I experienced it in college. Which is kind of hilarious, because I went to Virginia Tech, an hour from home, so they were on my "turf", telling me I was wrong. They chose to move to Southwest Virginia. 😂
Fun fact about "ain't": the word has been around for centuries, and was originally not considered incorrect or characteristic of any socio-political group. You can find examples of it all up and down literature and correspondence by "well educated" English speakers from the 18th century.
As a Midwesterner, ain't and ya'll are fine. The one thing that automatically makes me stop listening is, "I seen." It's like fingernails on a chalkboard.
