Gorgeous Lin, your garden really is looking fab. Baden baden looks nicest for me again today. I do like that flower. Also the porcelain Parfuma i see is doing very well, one of the very few roses we share that is also doing well in my garden! I may have to get mine in the ground somewhere. All the work you’ve put in the garden is looking great Lin :)
Love your re-makeover Lin. My brother says my garden is twee! Emma Bridgewater looks amazing with all those buds and Golden Gate looks like a very nice rose too Lin. Another couple to add to my list! So glad that I bought Emily Bronte when I went to David Austin's a couple of weeks ago. If she turns out half as good as yours I'll be happy.
I think you were right to get the makeover re-makeovered, Lin - it would obviously have irritated you for years if you hadn't. That Souvenir de Baden-Baden does look very attractive. And maybe I need to try and get hold of a Lady Emma Hamilton from somewhere too. I think I remember you did a video on taking cuttings before, but I'm sure many of us out here would enjoy another one - particularly on how you keep them moist afterwards without them getting too moist and rotting from the bottom, which is what mine usually die from.
Hi Lin, thanks for the update. I wonder what doe DA says about mature bloom size for their new introduction. About Penelope Lively, it's strange because I have her since november and her stems are able to support the blooms, I'll try and show you in my next august garden tour or roses tour.
Don't reverse over the Rose beds Lin! 🤪 All looking good in the new garden. Dont know what to make of PL! Mine first year and up to 5ft in a pot. Great for flowering but very messy. I'm convinced it's an Obelisk 🌹!!
Hello sweety .. i was just telling my son .. i have to learn from you & others who don’t cut back their roses so hard.. then i worry when it doesn’t start sprouting for quite some time 4-5 wks. & they’re 1st yr. ones too .. i love the way you talk.. so i subscribed.. brother ok?.. my quatre saisons blanc mousoux has 5 buds for the first time since last October & Omar khayyam rose & kasanlik rose have not flowered yet.. quatre saisons rose pink one has the most intense Fragrance (.. i was feeling very light headed smelling it …)out of 90 roses i planted in winter
Congratulations Lin and to your husband! 🎊🎉🍾🥂🌹You looked lovely in your wedding dress and stunning flower arrangement. Carol Klein is one of my favourite gardener and I watched that video too! 🌹
Lin, Thank you for sharing your wedding story. You made a beautiful bride and I love the idea of using flowers from your own garden. I've heard how expensive weddings are these days as my friends' children are all getting married. I'm feeling quite old as I remember the children being born and it seems like yesterday when I attended their parents' weddings. Hope you and your husband have lots of happy years together. My own parents made 65yrs and it would've been their 70th wedding anniversary today (31st July) but my mum sadly passed away 5yrs ago. Hope you and your plants are enjoying the sunshine.
@@wendybartlett6717 I hope you are enjoying the sunshine too. Wow, 65 years is very good. It’s rare nowadays in this generation. Thank you for your lovely comments .
I would say how lovely you look in those wedding photos, but I don't think that's allowed these days! A lovely combination of colours in that bouquet too. I must try Carol Klein's "on my way to my wedding" technique for getting cuttings from people's gardens - maybe not when I'm wearing my gardening clothes!
Albertine is very fast growing lots of shoots that are long .think it only flowers once , I bought 4 for front of house 🏡 didn’t realise it wasn’t a repeat flowering rose .
Lovely roses Lin. I too like Mill On The Floss. Gorgeous fragrance. My Lady Emma Hamilton has not done well for me this year. She is full of blackspot. Poor Ken. Stress is awful and seems to be affecting a lot of people who are working. I took early retirement because of it.
Hi Wendy, you’re not the only one with problems of Lady Emma Hamilton, mine and Lin are both like that this year and it’s not anyone’s fault. Another 6 years Wendy and I’ll be retired like you.. counting those days now😊
@@kenvoong5977 Those six years will fly Ken although it probably feels a long way off right now. I'm going to David Austin's in Shropshire next week when we're on holiday. I can't wait and am super excited. Take care.
I was wondering only yesterday how your j parker roses were doing..if i was you .i’d get me self a Cristal ball.. cos you’ve got a special gift.. reading minds.. thank you for that special update lin
@@Lin_Greenfinger 🤣🤣😂😂.. I meant it in a good way.. wasn’t trying to be bad in any way .. gorgeous roses lin.. i must say.. i find my DA roses dropping .. puts me off
Oyyyy!! Less of the cheeks, I’ve still clinging on to a few strands of hair left, that’s why I’m the poorest one of the 10😅 Soon I’ll be bald and rich..
Hi rose wife 😂😂. I’m surprised your brother hasn’t aquired Alnwick. Yay another fan of mill on the floss, my mums is growing demon, I’m surprised you say this. A little leggy perhaps but strong grower. New bed exciting always!:) that baden baden rose is one I looked at before but could never source it. It looks gorgeous. I think timeless cream can do part shade. Abit of a gap between flushes but mine seems to flush well in part shade and has grown pretty well. My timeless pinks I gave away, my mum has one but it’s not done as well as the others in my garden but I agree a very good collection, decent lasting flowers and good in wet weather. Well done garden is looking lovely and tell Ken he needs to relax more. The money he has he can afford a break :)
She’s definitely getting cheeky these days just because her roses are in better shape this year. Jay I do have Alnwick, the one she has was a cutting from my garden. I’ve been so busy working toward making that million 😊 hence most of my roses have been neglected for the time being.
All looking good!. First year Tranquility for me Lin, very pleased with her performance so far. Queen Bee has arrived (30% off @ PB) Sh'e had about 10 flowers on arrival. I'm sure that Jay Jay will be jealous 🤪
I’m sure you have a very impressive rose collection that we would be envious of. Queen Bee is a good deal at 30% off. It looked amazingly floriferous in JJ’s Tantau video.
I have Alfred de dalmas moss rose that is same colour as desdemona .. rose with moss on the buds is a novelty old .. variety novelty rose .. i have damask roses .. the fragrance makes you feel like you’re gonna pass out with their strength
I’ve never grown a Moss rose. I’ve seen the buds, it’s …err… interesting. It looks like it’s covered in aphids from afar. I get what you say about super strong fragrance. It’s like some lilies, so strong it’s overpowering ( almost stinking).
@@Lin_Greenfinger last yr i bought damask & gallica & hybrid perpetuals, moss roses from Trevor white spending £480 on them.. then many from other vendors too .. altogether ending up spending £3000 on them.. because i’d survived a heart attack in 2021.. only realised last yr. after that shock that i was still alive & should get more roses to celebrate 🎉
Hello Lin! My great admiration for all your success in your rose cuttings especially the Jubilee Celebration, looks cool with the standard tree form. It seems like you had a nice weather there, is it not very hot? My rose flowers are becoming smaller in size, high temperatures at the moment here. That was a lovely colour of Munstead Wood. Lovely to see your roses!😍
Hi Gemma. The weather has only recently improved . We had a lot of rain and now is mostly dry around 22 degrees. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Take care .
Even though I'm a David Austin fan, I just got Summer Romance today and put it in a pot bc I have had good success with Kordes so far. I have an Earth Angel I bought 2 months ago that is doing amazing in a pot with perfect shaped blooms. I put another Earth Angel in the ground this spring, but it has struggled giving me good blooms even though it's healthy overall. Raspberry cupcake is a super healthy, vigorous, fragrant rose. I would highly recommend it bc it produces.
Nice Parfuma roses you have. I’m sure it’s just the beginning. So many more to collect if you have the space. My favourite is Madame Anisette/ Glorious Parfuma . But Spicy, Bliss and Porcelain are fantastic too. Actually, all of them are great 😊
The little isle is all inrail'd With a rose-fence, and overtrail'd With roses: by the marge unhail'd The shallop flitteth silken sail'd, Skimming down to Camelot. A pearl garland winds her head: She leaneth on a velvet bed, Full royally apparelled, The Lady of Shalott.
Lovely roses Lin and so many buds. I wish mine looked like yours. That little stem of Ebtide is unusual. Are you sure that naughty Ken hasn't been playing a trick on you? You both have beautiful gardens and green fingers.
Lovely walk around your garden rose wife 😊. Ancient mariner I think has slightly better flowers if anything. And as you say more fragrant, I’m waiting on mine putting on some growth but it’s in a good spot. Ok now you’re showing off with your distant drums oh and PCDM! Yeah very jealous I am! But a lovely walk around :)
So far...I think Olivia Rose is more reliable flowering and the healthiest DA in my large collection. It also is a full attractive bush. The scent is just okay. I would probably recommend it for beginners.
Hi Lin! Thanks for doing that side-by-side comparison - I had suspected that they would look very similar, and they certainly do. but it's reassuring to know that you think I opted for the better rose - just imagine if I had got it wrong and had to dig up my 5 Ancient Mariners to replace them! Those various cuttings look well established - when did you take them? That Chandos Beauty at the end is indeed a beauty, especially in that light - mine, new this year, lost its head weeks ago just as it was about to flower due to my clumsiness and I am still waiting for it to bloom. As usual, thank you for an enjoyable and informative video.
Hi Nik. I do think Ancient Mariner is underrated. Olivia steals the attention with the family name. I took the cuttings about 1.5 years ago, some last autumn. I just can’t resist when I prune. Then I end up with far too many 😅
@@Lin_Greenfinger Thanks Lin. I have only ever taken autumn cuttings until this year - my recent summer cuttings look fine above ground, but it's the roots which are important, isn't it? I do it for the fun of it and enjoy doing it, but as you say you do end up with a lot of roses you don't need.
@@Lin_GreenfingerI’ve got cuttings of just joey rose & bride & groom rose doing so well from this yr’s cuttings.. but you know how we are like .. as many as rose bushes we have ..” they are never enough “..
Tranquility is my favourite this year , last year was Woolerton Old Hall . Another favourite is spirit of freedom a D.A rose . Desdemona is repeat repeat bloomer and smells divine .
Hi Lin, congrats on your run time you did very well ! Your new patio and driveway look great and the roses of course are all stunning. That new border by the drive will be fabulous if that's what you are planning. What a welcome sight that will be when you drive up to your home. Lovely video as I look out on pouring rain here this morning :( Enjoy your lovely garden, take care.
Oh your space is just stunning! Even the renovation looks great. I don’t know what the before looks like because this is the first video of yours I’ve ever seen, but I am grateful to you for sharing your serene space. I look forward to checking your existing videos out and for more to come. Take care!
Brilliant professional-looking video Lin, one gorgeous rose after another all captured in gorgeous pin-sharp close-ups! Well done! You've made me want to buy a lot of those roses. Maybe you could compare blooms from the Ancient Mariner and Olivia Rose Austen some time - they look quite similar to me? Lots of other beautiful colourful plants too, but my heart belongs to the roses.
Thanks Nik. Ancient Mariner was launched a year later than Olivia, I think Olivia receives more attention but Ancient Mariner is a better rose. Both blooms remarkably similar yet AC don’t nod and is stronger in growth. Good idea for next video to compare the two roses.
