Y’all can hate 2k 18 but that was the last 2K when it was fun and everyone was on park was jumping, but it was cheesy if they would’ve took some of that out and grew on it. The game would’ve been fine.

You lost me @15:30 , to say the older mechanics from previous games were more realistic? Bro until adrenaline bars, you could just chain-dribble combos in circles for 22 seconds of the shot clock, with no fatigue impact, come down to the hash and make a Slightly Early timed 3 pointer. That was realistic? Grab a basketball and go outside and try to do moves like that for 20 seconds straight and see how out of breathe you are, let alone throw up a 40-foot shot after... The "Dribble God" era was not realistic... and that's just 1 of many.. alley-oops, chase-downs, & more were all unreal physics and required ZERO skill
The past 2k's were very "arcadey" (i'm 33, been playing since 2k9) and more and more every year they make it more of a simulation which makes gameplay mechanics match those of real-life.. now was the gameplay in the past more "Fun"? You can argue that because you could chain moves and things better and get a more satisfied feeling after playing. The games had more life in them, and more enjoyment, but they took WAY less skill in most aspects to perform and were not realistic to IRL movements..
The disconnect with 2k to me, is the community as a WHOLE doesn't Evolve with the game. Especially the "Veteran" content creators cause they are holding on to this old play style and every year try to figure out ways to keep these playstyles going.. which is why videos every year come out from creators figuring out what Sigs can get them the same "Cheeses" from previous years (Left-Right, Momentum Spam, etc)
I follow popular creators, "2k tutes" & "Kevin Cruz" even "2klab" and they show the way this game is supposed to be played IN 24' and how to take advantage of the games mechanics like "pro-play" and if yu have REAL basketball understanding not just play 2k, the game is actually a good 7-8/10 if played correctly.. there are just so many more moves and animations in todays game, but everyone sticks to the same 5-6 packages
