That is the conclusion of Alfred. But is it correct? Think about the story Alfred told, who's the good guy in the story? Alfred, the British soldier transporting bribery payments to local Chiefs to get them to do things that are against the best interests of their people? Or the villager that stole the bribery payments not for profit but to stop corruption? The issue is we really like Alfred and Batman and usually see things from their point of view and so we are primed to think of them as the good guys. But this story reveals that Alfred was the bad guy, did not realize he was a bad guy, and because he didn't realize he was the bad guy could not fathom Why the thief would do what he did, so he came up with a conclusion that made sense to him even though it's not accurate
It's because the person telling the story is the bad guy, Alfred is the one that burned down the forest. Alfred is the one that was transporting bribery payments to local leaders for the British government. But Alfred can't imagine that he's the bad guy so he makes up reasons like maybe some people Just want to watch the world burn
Is the wisdom that British soldiers transporting bribery payments is bad? Or is the wisdom that someone trying to stop those bribery payments is crazy person that just wants to watch the world burn?
Not sure adding the fasist with makeup, and a wig at the end was a good touch. Unless you were refering to that oaf as the one trying to burn the world down.
Except it doesn't.... What's the story? British soldier transports bribery payments to local leaders. Local thief intercepts bribery payments Local thief does not keep the Gregory payments showing that their motivation is not greed. British soldiers cannot catch the thief that is stopping their bribery payments from reaching they intended target So British soldiers burn down the entire forest. British soldier then concludes that some people just want to watch the world burn because they can't fathom that they are in fact the bad guy
Alfred really hits that nail on the head. Evil people don’t always need a motivation or a tragic history to justify their actions. Somewhere, someone kicked a puppy and thought to themselves “that felt good”, and that was all the reason they needed. Some men perform acts of evil “JUST. BECAUSE. THEY CAN.”
100% right! Alfred didn't need a tragic backstory in order to burn down an entire forest nor did he need a tragic motivation in order to transport bribery payments to local leaders Some men do evil things just because they're ordered to. It's not that they want to watch the world burn it's that they will burn the world down as long as they're told to by someone above them.... Just like Alfred did And by the way yes Alfred is the bad guy in that story, and what's worse is it doesn't even realize decades later that he was the bad guy
He did though. Hes crazy in a way he's killed alot of people he wasnt just a butler but personal security for the Wayne's before they died. Hes former SAS, and protected the queen. Hes the only bat family member that is allow to kill and use guns no one questions it
I love how at 0:09, Alfred explains the joker like he’s some supernatural force. As though the mob made a deal they shouldn’t have in their desperation and brought something they couldn’t comprehend
I love this scene. Bruce actually PAYS ATTENTION bc he respects Alfred and his opinion. That slight change in his face to true curiosity really sells it. Now he’s intrigued, this is not something he expected in the story. And to later when he asks Alfred what happened to the bandit, he was truly thinking about how to deal with the situation and never forgot Alfred’s council. Just a masterwork from both actors, director, and story writers
Ya, okay.. . We got shorted on RU-vid, so we're revenging on people on RU-vid.. . Eyelid flutter.. . If RU-vid showed slutty arbitrary gigolo love sings t me ten years ago, well just slamming RU-vid.. . RU-vid can't be uninstalled from phone... .. Decent apps are uninstallable.. . So me getting new phone.. .. Maybe tizen or something.. . . Sorry, crisbal.. . Very sorry we had to meet this way.. .
I don't seem to find the video where this speech from Alfred is taken apart for the dirty lie it is. The bandit was stealing the stones and throwing them away to reduce their perceived value and stop the invaders from using the gems to corrupt the local community leaders into selling their lands and people to the benefit of the colonialists. Alfred and his buddies were the scum trying to corrupt and exploit the natives, and the bandits were protecting their land from the invaders, pretty effectively at that.
Start of the movie: "One man or the entire mob, he can wait" End of the movie: "I gotta find this man, Lucious" Nolan did an awesome job of setting up the Joker! Making him go from a nobody to worst of them all! Alfred was the only one who never underestimated him
While it is being used in a different context here, that line about in their desperation they turned to man they don’t understand seems to sum up American politics right now.
It has happened to other countries and now it's happening to mine. Some joker comes to stage of power and logical thinkers won't be able to move him away because they can't understand his motives. He is supported by all kind of criminals even though they don't share any philosophy with him. He splits a nation into pieces and watch them kill each other for reasons fabricated by him. He talks about greatness, belief and peace yet none of his actions relate to any of it. He calls people who speak the truth "terrrrorists" and provokes one half of the population against the other; because his only goal is to create the biggest mayhem possible within the shortest time possible. The royalties and the other elites of the world know it well that if certain cultures thrive and find peace as they are, it will prove that nobody will need royals, nobles or elites for keeping the order and peace. Thus, they will lose influence and won't be able to stay in power by being able to ignore and manipulate laws.
@@Joecbg100 In my country we have in a rising party a man who fits perfectly in this profile. He's in the government, started 5 years ago a right-wing extremist party which is now the third most voted party in the country and most of his speech feels like the right thing to do to everybody. The only thing that still keeps him from gain more power is that a few can see right through him the nature of his intentions, and that is what keeps him at bay. And he is a byproduct of years of a rotting political system. Europe at the moment is like this.
this is a speech about the grand spectrum of politicians ,war profiteers and oligarchs who need to hear this .and then afterwards need to indicated and punished for the crimes against humanity .
